Minor Details: Games of April 25

INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS 10, ST. PAUL SAINTS 0 IN ST. PAUL (GAME 1)

An error and a Jack Suwinski single gave Indianapolis a 2-0 lead in the first.  They then scored five more in the second on five singles, two walks, and a balk to put the game out of reach early.  They added single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth.  St. Paul had only three hits, with a Royce Lewis double the only one for more than one base.

Batters:  None.

Pitchers:  Starter Marco Raya lasted just 1.2 innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks, striking out one.  Kody Funderburk struck out two in 1.2 perfect innings.  Ryan Jensen struck out two in a perfect inning.

Opponents:  Nick Solak was 3-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and three runs.  Jack Suwinski was 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and two RBIs.  Malcolm Nunez was 2-for-4 with a run.  Bubba Chandler pitched five shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks and striking out four.

ST. PAUL SAINTS 3, INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS 0 IN ST. PAUL (GAME 2)

Patrick Winkel homered in the second to give St. Paul a 1-0 lead.  It stayed there until the sixth, when Carson McCusker singled home a run and another scored on a wild pitch, making the score 3-0.  Indianapolis got just two hits, both singles.

Batters:  Ryan Fitzgerald was 2-for-3 with a run.  Patrick Winkel was 1-for-2 with a home run.

Pitchers:  Darren McCaughan struck out seven in five innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  Anthony Misiewicz struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Opponents:  Nick Dombkowski struck out five in 3.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk.

Stats:  Ryan Fitzgerald is batting .313 with an OPS of .923.  Carson McCusker has an OPS of 1.009.  Patrick Winkel has an OPS of .891.  Darren McCaughan has an ERA of zero.  Anthony Misiewicz has an ERA of 1.86.

WICHITA WIND SURGE 2, SPRINGFIELD CARDINALS 1 IN WICHITA

Kyler Fedco doubled leading off the second and scored on a pair of productive outs to put Wichita up 1-0.  Springfield put together three singles in the fifth to tie it 1-1.  In the seventh Aaron Sabato led off with a walk, went to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a pair of productive outs to make it 2-1.  Wichita pitchers made the lead stand up.

Batters:  None.

Pitchers:  Darren Bowen pitched five innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks and striking out three.  Pierson Ohl struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up one hit.  Joel Cesar pitched a scoreless inning, walking one.

Opponents:  Pete Hansen pitched five innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk and striking out three.

The game's lone run scored in the sixth inning on a double play.  Each team had four hits, with Danny De Andrade getting the only extra base hit, a double.

Pitchers:  Alejandro Hidalgo struck out seven in five shutout innings, giving up one hit and four walks.  Jacob Wosinski pitched three shutout innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk.  Paulshawn Pasqualotto pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

CLEARWATER THRESHERS 4, FORT MYERS MIGHTY MUSSELS 3 IN CLEARWATER

Fort Myers scored two in the first, getting one on a sacrifice fly and another on an error, to take a 2-0 lead.  It went to 3-0 in the sixth when Jay Thomason doubled and scored on a Jefferson Valladeres single.  But Clearwater came back.  Kodey Shojinaga tripled and scored in the bottom of the sixth.  In the seventh, Eduardo Tait doubled home a run and another scored on a wild pitch to tie it 3-3.  In the ninth, Raider Tello singled home Brady Day with the deciding run.

Batters:  None.

Pitchers:  Cole Peschi struck out nine in five shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks.  Liam Rocha pitched a scoreless inning despite giving up one hit and three walks.

Opponents:  Diego Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Raider Tello was 2-for-5 with an RBI.  Dante Nori was 2-for-5 with a run.  Ryan Degges pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, walking one and striking out one.

ST. PAUL SAINTS 6, OMAHA STORM CHASERS 4 IN ST. PAUL

Omaha scored four in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead, but St. Paul tied it with two in the bottom of the fourth and Carson McCusker hit a two-run homer in the sixth to win it for the Saints.  Luke Keaschall was 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, two runs, and two RBIs.  Jair Camargo and Anthony Prato were each 2-for-4.  Alex Speas struck out five in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.  Kyle Bischoff struck out five and walked two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.

WICHITA WIND SURGE 4, MIDLAND ROCKHOUNDS 1 IN WICHITA

Tyler Dearden singled home a run in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.  Wichita added single runs in the fifth and sixth.  Tanner Schobel was 3-for-4 with a walk.  Andrew Cossetti was 2-for-3.  Jake Rucker was 2-for-4.  Kyler Fedco hit a home run.  Trent Baker pitched 4.1 innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks and striking out three.  Angel Macuare struck out four in 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hits and two walks.

CEDAR RAPIDS KERNELS 6, BELOIT SKY CARP 4 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Beloit scored four in the sixth to tie 4-4, but Cedar Rapids came back with two in the eighth on RBI doubles by Misael Urbina and Brandon Winokur.  Billy Amick was 2-for-3 with two walks.  Caden Kendle and Winokur were each 2-for-4 with a double.  Kendle also hit a home run.  Charlee Soto struck out six in five shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.  Jacob Wosinski pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out two.

FORT MYERS MIGHTY MUSSELS 6, TAMPA TARPONS 3 IN FORT MYERS

Fort Myers led 3-0 after two.  Tampa cut it to 3-2, but Fort Myers got one in the third and two in the fifth.  Dameury PenaYasser Mercedes, and Jefferson Valladeres were each 2-for-4, with Mercedes and Valladeres each hitting a double and driving in two.  Eli Jones struck out six in five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks.  Cole Peschi struck out four in four innings, giving up an unearned run on five hits and a walk.

Minor Details: Games of April 4

COLUMBUS CLIPPERS 3, ST. PAUL SAINTS 2 IN COLUMBUS (GAME 1)

The Saints started the game with four consecutive singles, producing two runs.  That was all the runs they would get, and for six innings it looked like that would be enough.  But Scott Blewett came in to pitch the seventh and, well, he blew it.  A walk, a double, and a two-run single by Angel Martinez tied the game, and an RBI double by Will Wilson walked it off for Columbus.  Saints starters still had not allowed a run through four games.

Batters:  Mike Ford was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Austin Martin was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.

Pitchers:  Marco Raya struck out five in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up five hits and a walk.  Kody Funderburk struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition:  Angel Martinez was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.  Bradley Hanner pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.

ST. PAUL SAINTS AT COLUMBUS CLIPPERS (GAME 2)

The Saints trailed Columbus 11-1 through five innings at press time.  Luke Keaschall was 2-for-3 with a double.  David Festa ended the scoreless streak by St. Paul starters, allowing six runs (five earned) on ten hits and two walks.  He did strike out four in 3.1 innings.  For Wichita, Christian Cairo was 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs.  Will Wilson hit a two-run homer.  Kolby Allard struck out five in four innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk.

WICHITA WIND SURGE AT SPRINGFIELD CARDINALS

Rained out.  Will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday.

CEDAR RAPIDS KERNELS 4, WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 1 IN WISCONSIN

It was scoreless through three, but Billy Amick singled home a run in the fourth, Brandon Winokur doubled one home in the sixth, and Caden Kendle hit a two-run double in the seventh.  Wisconsin did not get on the board until the ninth.  There were thirty strikeouts in the game, with Cedar Rapids pitchers striking out thirteen and Wisconsin pitchers fanning seventeen.

Batters:  Gabriel Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with a double.  Caden Kendle was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.  Kyle DeBarge was 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs.

Pitchers:  Charlee Soto struck out five in four shutout innings, giving up two hits and three walks.  Spencer Bengard struck out six and walked one in four shutout innings of relief, allowing no hits.

Opposition:  Manuel Rodriguez struck out eleven in 4.1 innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and a walk.  Aidan Maldonado struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Record:  1-0, tied for first.

PALM BEACH CARDINALS 8, FORT MYERS MIGHTY MUSSELS 2 IN PALM BEACH

Palm Beach scored two in the third to open the scoring and led all the way.  Jefferson Valladares singled home in the run to cut the lead to 2-1 and a wild pitch scored a run in the seventh to cut the margin to 4-2, but the Cardinals scored one in the seventh and three in the eighth to put it out of reach.

Batters:  Kevin Maitan was 2-for-4.

Pitchers:  Starter Eli Jones pitched 4.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk and striking out one.

Opposition:  Luis Pino was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.  Jonathan Mejia was 2-for-4 with two triples, a walk, and two runs.  Cade McGee was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Christian Martin was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, a run and an RBI.  Jose Suarez was 2-for-5 with an RBI.  Anyelo Encarnacion was 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks, and three runs.  Leonel Sequera pitched 3.2 innings, giving up a run on three hits and a walk and striking out two.  Michael Watson struck out three and walked one in two shutout innings.

Record:  Fort Myers is 0-1.
