DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Aguilas 8, Escogido 5 in Escogido.  Luis Perdomo struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up only a walk, for Aguilas.  Pedro Florimon was 2-for-4 and scored twice for Escogido.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE

Melbourne 8, Perth 7 in Perth (10 innings).  Luke Hughes was 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI for Perth.

Sydney 5, Adelaide 3 in Adelaide.  Jacob Younis was 1-for-4 and scored once for Sydney.

PLAYOFF UPDATES

Dominican League—Escogido leads Aguilas three games to two in the best-of-nine championship series.

Mexican League—Obregon won the championship.

Puerto Rican League--Mayaguez won the championship.

Venezuelan League--Aragua leads La Guaira two games to one in the best-of-seven championship series.

Australian League—Melbourne leads Perth one game to none.  Sydney leads Adelaide one game to none.  Each series is best-of-five.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Mayaguez 5, Caguas 2 in Mayaguez.  Daniel Ortiz was 1-for-4 with a run for Mayaguez.  Eddie Rosario was 1-for-3 with a run for Mayaguez.  Nelvin Fuentes pitched a perfect inning for Mayaguez.

PLAYOFF UPDATES

Dominican League—Escogido leads Aguilas three games to one in the best-of-nine championship series.

Mexican League—Our congratulations to the Yaquis de Obregon as they have won the Mexican League championship, sweeping Guasave four games to none in the best-of-seven series.

Puerto Rican League—Our congratulations to the Indios de Mayaguez as they have won the Puerto Rican League championship, defeating Caguas five games to three in the best-of-nine series.

Venezuelan League—Aragua and La Guaira are tied one game apiece in their best-of-seven series.

Australian League—The playoffs begin today.  Perth plays Melbourne and Adelaide plays Sydney in the first round.  Each first round series is best-of-five.

Aguilas 1, Escogido 0 in Aguilas.  Pedro Florimon was 1-for-3 for Escogido.  Francisco Liriano started for Escogido and pitched four innings, striking out five while giving up an unearned run on two hits and two walks to take the loss.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Caguas 6, Mayaguez 5 in Caguas (11 innings).  Aaron Bates struck out as a pinch-hitter for Caguas.  Daniel Ortiz was 1-for-3 with two walks for Mayaguez.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

La Guaira 4, Aragua 2 in Aragua.  Pedro Guerra allowed a run on three hits and a walk in one inning.

Mayaguez 8, Caguas 5 in Mayaguez.  Daniel Ortiz was 0-for-4 and scored once for Mayaguez.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Magallanes 8, Aragua 4 in Magallanes.  Pedro Guerra struck out seven in three perfect innings for Magallanes.

Sunday

Magallanes 6, Anzoategui 5 in Anzoategui (11 innings).  Lester Oliveros struck out two in three shutout innings, giving up one hit, for Anzoategui.

Adelaide 7, Brisbane 1 in Adelaide (Game 1).  Rory Rhodes was 0-for-3 for Brisbane.

Brisbane 4, Adelaide 3 in Adelaide (Game 2).  Rory Rhodes was 0-for-4 for Brisbane.

Perth 3, Sydney 0 in Perth.  Jacob Younis was 0-for-3 with a walk for Sydney.  Luke Hughes was 1-for-4 with an RBI for Perth.

Sunday

Melbourne 10, Canberra 7 in Melbourne.  Tim Atherton surrendered eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits and three walks in 4.1 innings.

Perth 7, Sydney 2 in Perth.  Jacob Younis was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for Sydney.  Luke Hughes was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one for Perth.

Venezuelan League—Aragua won the round-robin, but there was a three-way tie for second among Anzoategui, La Guaira, and Magallanes.  Magallanes defeated Anzoategui in the first game of the playoff, with La Guaira getting the bye.  La Guaira then defeated Magallanes in the second game.  La Guaira will play Aragua in the championship series.

Australian League—The playoffs start Thursday.  The way the brackets work, 1 plays 2 and 3 plays 4 in the first round.  In the second round, the winner of 3-4 plays the loser of 1-2.  In the championship round, the winner of 1-2 plays the second round winner.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Hermosillo 7, Mazatlan 4 in Hermosillo.  Anthony Slama pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout for Mazatlan.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Ponce 5, Caguas 2 in Ponce.  Angel Morales was 1-for-4 for Ponce.

Mayaguez 6, Carolina 4 in Carolina.  Daniel Ortiz was 0-for-3 with an RBI on a sacrifice fly for Mayaguez.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Anzoategui 5, Lara 4 in Anzoategui (12 innings).  Lester Oliveros retired both batters he faced for Anzoategui.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE

Perth 9, Adelaide 5 in Adelaide (Game 1—Scheduled 7 innings).  Luke Hughes was 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Perth.  He was also hit by a pitch.

Perth 16, Adelaide 11 in Adelaide (Game 2—Scheduled 9 innings).  Luke Hughes was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and three walks, scoring twice for Perth.

Melbourne 15, Sydney 7 in Melbourne (Game 1).  Jacob Younis was 0-for-5 and scored once for Sydney.

Brisbane 3, Canberra 2 in Brisbane (Game 1).  Rory Rhodes was 2-for-4 with a home run, driving in two for Brisbane.

Brisbane 10, Canberra 2 in Brisbane (Game 2).  Rory Rhodes was 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk, scoring twice for Brisbane.

Escogido 4, Cibao 1 in Escogido.  Pedro Florimon was 0-for-3 for Escogido.  Alexi Casilla was 0-for-4 for Cibao.  Wilkin Ramirez was 0-for-4 for Cibao. 

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Hermosillo 6, Mazatlan 5 in Hermosillo.  Anthony Slama gave up a hit but no runs in two-thirds of an inning for Mazatlan.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Ponce 2, Carolina 1 in Carolina (Game 1--Scheduled 7 innings).  Angel Morales was 1-for-2 with a walk for Ponce.

Ponce 2, Carolina 1 in Carolina (Game 2).  Angel Morales was 2-for-3 with a walk for Ponce.

Mayaguez 4, Caguas 1 in Mayaguez.  Daniel Ortiz was 0-for-3 with a walk for Mayaguez.  Nelvin Fuentes retired the only man he faced for Mayaguez.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE

Perth 5, Adelaide 4 in Perth (Game 1--Scheduled 7 innings).  Luke Hughes was 1-for-2 with an RBI and was hit by a pitch for Perth.

Perth 10, Adelaide 9 in Adelaide (Game 2).  Luke Hughes was 4-for-5 with two home runs and a walk, scoring twice and driving in three for Perth.  Brendan Wise got his third save for Perth, giving up a hit and striking out one in a scoreless inning.

Sydney 15, Melbourne 5 in Melbourne.  Jacob Younis was 1-for-5 and scored once for Sydney.

Canberra 9, Brisbane 6 in Brisbane (10 innings).  Rory Rhodes was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two for Brisbane.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Monday

Mazatlan 10, Los Mochis 0 in Mazatlan.  Anthony Slama struck out two and walked one in a scoreless inning for Mazatlan.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Monday

Margarita 12, Magallanes 11 in Magallanes.  Pedro Guerra pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout for Magallanes.

Mazatlan 5, Los Mochis 3 in Mazatlan.  Anthony Slama pitched a perfect ninth to get the save for Mazatlan.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Ponce 6, Mayaguez 5 (11 innings).  Angel Morales was used as a pinch-runner for Ponce.  Daniel Ortiz was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Mayaguez.  Nelvin Fuentes worked a scoreless inning despite giving up a walk and a hit batsman for Mayaguez.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Anzoategui 3, Caracas 2 in Caracas.  Lester Oliveros retired the only batter he faced for Anzoategui.

Magallanes 5, Aragua 4 in Magallanes.  Pedro Guerra allowed two runs on two hits in two-thirds of an inning for Magallanes.

Culiacan 4, Mazatlan 3 in Culiacan (10 innings).  Anthony Slama struck out two and gave up one hit in a scoreless inning for Mazatlan.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Caguas 6, Mayaguez 2 in Mayaguez.  Daniel Ortiz was 1-for-3 for Mayaguez.  Eddie Rosario played in the field for Mayaguez but did not bat.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Anzoategui 7, Caracas 5 in Caracas.  Lester Oliveros got the win for Anzoategui, retiring all four batters he faced.
