Where They Stand

Rochester is 30-48, sixth (last) in the IL North, 15 games behind Lehigh Valley.  They have lost five in a row and are 3-7 in their last ten games.

New Britain is 41-35, third in the EL East, 4.5 games behind New Hampshire and Trenton.  They have lost three in a row and are 5-5 in their last ten games.

Ft. Myers is 37-41, second in the FSL South, 5.5 games behind St. Lucie.  They won their last game and are 3-7 in their last ten games.

Beloit is 43-34, third in the ML West, 5 games behind Burlington.  They lost their last game and are 7-3 in their last ten games.

Elizabethton is 6-4, second in the AL West, 3 games behind Johnson City.  They won their last two games.

The GCL Twins are 4-4, third in the GCL South, 1.5 games behind the Rays.  They lost their last game.

The DSL Twins are 19-10, first in the B. C. B. C., a half game ahead of the Orioles.  They lost their last game and are 6-4 in their last ten games.

Minor Details: Games of 6/30

Pawtucket 6, Rochester 5 in Pawtucket.  The Red Wings tied it at five with a run in the top of the eighth, but the Red Sox won with a run in the bottom of the eighth.  Brian Dinkelman singled and doubled.  Aaron Bates had two hits to raise his average to .331.  Kyle Gibson allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk in five innings.  Kyle Waldrop pitched two shutout innings.  Anthony Slama allowed the winning run, which scored on a walk, two stolen bases, and a wild pitch.

Harrisburg 6, New Britain 0 in New Britain.  The Senators scored three in the first inning.  Evan Bigley singled and doubled.  Brett Jacobson struck out nine in 6.2 innings, but allowed four runs on five hits and three walks.

St. Lucie 2, Ft. Myers 1 in Ft. Myers (Game 1—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Mets scored both their runs in the third.  The Miracle out-hit the Mets 8-4.  Anderson Hidalgo was 3-for-3 with a double.  Jamaal Hawkins was 2-for-2 with a walk.  Kevin Slowey allowed both runs on three hits in 3.1 innings.  Matthew Tone pitched two hitless innings, walking one.

Ft. Myers 3, St. Lucie 2 in Ft. Myers (Game 2—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Miracle scored two in the first and one in the fourth to build a 3-0 lead.  Anderson Hidalgo hit a two-run homer and Aaron Hicks hit a solo homer.  Those were the only hits the Miracle had, as they were out-hit 9-2.  Kane Holbrooks gave up a run on six hits in six innings, walking none and striking out five.

Kane County 4, Beloit 3 in Kane County.  The Cougars scored three in the bottom of the eighth to overcome a 3-1 deficit.  Wang-wei Lin had three hits.  Daniel Ortiz hit a home run.  Manuel Soliman gave up an unearned run on three hits and two walks, striking out five in six innings.  Michael Tonkin took the loss, surrendering the eighth inning runs in his second inning of work.  He struck out three, but allowed three hits and walked two.

Elizabethton 2, Kingsport 0 in Elizabethton.  The Twins scored both of their runs in the fifth inning on Tyler Koelling’s two-run homer.  Koelling also singled.  Nick Lockwood singled and doubled to raise his average to .364 in 33 at-bats.  Max Kepler had two hits.  Tim Shibuya struck out six in six innings, giving up two hits and two walks.  Sam Spangler struck out three in two innings, allowing one hit to get the save.

GCL Twins 1, Rays 1 at Rays (Game suspended in the top of the sixth.)  Each team has four hits.  Joshua Hendricks had two of them for the Twins.  Angel Mata struck out five in three innings, giving up a run on four hits and a walk.  Luis Nunez pitched two perfect innings, striking out four.

DSL White Sox 5, Twins 1 at Twins.  The Twins out-hit the White Sox 5-4 but made three errors.  Adonis Pacheco doubled and tripled.  Jose Jimenez took the loss, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk, striking out three in four innings.  Ezequiel Zarzuela pitched two perfect innings.

Minor Details: Games of 6/29

Pawtucket 4, Rochester 1 in Pawtucket.  The Red Sox scored three in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.  The Red Wings had only two hits in the game, both singles, and struck out fourteen times.  Eric Hacker gave up two runs on eight hits and a walk in 5.2 innings to take the loss.

Portland 4, New Britain 3 in Portland.  The Sea Dogs’ Alex Hassan led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off homer off Bruce Pugh.  Five Rock Cats had one hit each.  Bobby Lanigan gave up three runs on six hits and three walks in six innings.  Tony Davis pitched 1.2 scoreless innings despite giving up a hit and four walks.

St. Lucie at Ft. Myers.  Postponed.  Game will be made up as part of a doubleheader this evening.

Beloit 14, Clinton 5 in Clinton.  The Snappers scored eight runs in the third.  Michael Gonzales hit two homers and a single, driving in five and raising his average to .305.  Jairo Perez had a homer and two singles, raising his average to .406 in 64 at-bats.  Daniel Santana had two singles and a double, Wang-wei Lin singled and doubled, and Nate Roberts had two hits.  Ryan O’Rourke got the win, striking out six in five innings while giving up two runs on five hits and a walk.

Elizabethton 4, Johnson City 3 in Johnson City.  The Twins scored two in the eighth to take a 4-1 lead, then hung on.  Eddie Rosario hit two solo homers to raise his average to .395 in 38 at-bats.  Matej Hejma hit a two-run homer in the eighth.  David Hurlbut was the winner, giving up a run on five hits in five innings.  Bart Carter struck out four in two shutout innings.  Madison Boer pitched the final 1.1 innings, giving up a hit and striking out two for the save.

GCL Rays 2, Twins 0 at Twins.  The Twins out-hit the Rays 7-4.  Phillip Chapman and Kelly Cross each had two hits.  Hein Robb struck out six in four hitless innings, walking two.  Cole Johnson pitched two shutout innings.  Mark Trau took the loss, giving up a run on a hit and two walks.

DSL Twins 5, Diamondbacks 2 at Twins.  The Twins scored three in the first and two in the seventh.  Ernesto Ciprian had a triple and two singles, driving in three.  Ronald Jimenez had two hits.  Jose Abreu pitched four shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk.  Felix Jorge and Elias Villasana each pitched two shutout innings, with Jorge striking out four.  Yeison Florentino retired the final two batters of the game to get the save.

Minor Details: Games of 6/28

Pawtucket 8, Rochester 6 in Pawtucket.  The Red Wings led 6-0 after three and a half innings.  Steve Singleton singled and tripled.  Dustin Martin singled and doubled.  Aaron Bates had two hits, raising his average to .333.  Andrew Baldwin allowed six runs on seven hits in six innings.  He struck out seven and walked none.  Cole DeVries allowed two runs on four hits and a walk in two innings to take the loss.

New Britain 2, Portland 1 in Portland (Game 1—9 innings—Scheduled 7 innings).  Deibinson Romero homered to lead off the top of the ninth.  Brian Dozier had two doubles and a single.  Liam Hendriks gave up one run on seven hits and a walk in six innings.  Deolis Guerra struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and getting the win.  Tyler Robertson gave up one hit in a scoreless ninth to get the save.

Portland 12, New Britain 5 in Portland (Game 2—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Sea Dogs scored seven in the sixth to break a 5-5 tie.  Yangervis Solarte singled and doubled, raising his average to .330.  Chris Parmelee also singled and doubled.  Mark Dolenc had two hits.  Each of the three Rock Cats pitchers surrendered four runs, with Blake Martin giving up four hits and a walk in two innings, Jake Stevens six hits and two walks in three innings, and Michael Tarsi four hits and a walk in one inning.

Ft. Myers 9, Charlotte 8 in Ft. Myers.  The Stone Crabs scored seven in the eighth to overcome a 7-1 deficit, but the Miracle got two in the ninth to win.  Ramon Santana singled to drive in the tying run and scored on a Jon Goncalves double.  Oswaldo Arcia had two doubles.  Aaron Hicks, Nick Romero, and Jamaal Hawkins each had two hits.  Logan Darnell gave up just an unearned run on eight hits and a walk in six innings.  Matt Hauser surrendered two runs on three hits and a walk in 1.2 innings and was credited with the win.

Clinton 4, Beloit 3 in Clinton (12 innings).  Jairo Perez had two singles and a double to raise his average to .390.  Daniel Ortiz singled and tripled.  Adrian Salcedo gave up two runs on five hits and a walk in 6.2 innings.  Clinton Dempster struck out four in two hitless innings, walking two.  Nelvin Fuentes allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk to take the loss.

Johnson City 8, Elizabethton 7 in Johnson City.  The Cardinals scored in the bottom of the eighth to break a 7-7 tie.  Miguel Sano hit a home run, two doubles, and a single.  Eddie Rosario hit a two-run homer.  Cesar Ciurcina surrendered five runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks in two innings.  Derek Christensen gave up an unearned run on three hits, striking out three in three innings to take the loss.  The Twins made seven errors.

GCL Orioles at Twins.  Postponed.

DSL Twins 5, Padres 3 at Padres.  The Twins scored three in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie.  Erick Gonzalez doubled and tripled, driving in three.  Melciades De La Cruz pitched four hitless innings, giving up a walk and striking out seven.  Francisco Nunez gave up a run on two hits in 1.1 innings to get the win.  Edgar Martinez worked a perfect ninth for the save.

ROCHESTER

Thursday—Rochester 7, Charlotte 2 in Rochester.  Dustin Martin singled and homered.  Eric Hacker struck out six in six innings.

Friday—Syracuse 10, Rochester 3 in Syracuse.  Trevor Plouffe had two singles, a double, and a homer, driving in three.  Jake Stevens pitched two shutout innings.

Saturday—Rochester 6, Syracuse 2 in Syracuse.  Dustin Martin had three hits and scored three times.  Kyle Gibson gave up two runs on six hits and a walk in five innings.

Sunday—Syracuse 9, Rochester 2 in Rochester. Toby Gardenhire singled and doubled. Carlos Gutierrez struck out three in two shutout innings.

Monday--Syracuse 11, Rochester 2 in Rochester.  Aaron Bates singled and doubled to raise his average to .321. Anthony Slama struck out four in 1.2 scoreless innings.

NEW BRITAIN

Thursday—Bowie at New Britain.  Postponed.

Friday—New Britain 3, Trenton 2 in New Britain.  Deibinson Romero had two hits.  Bobby Lanigan struck out nine in eight innings, giving up a run on five hits.

Saturday—Trenton 12, New Britain 5 in New Britain.  Mark Dolenc had three hits. Chris Parmelee singled and tripled.

Sunday—Trenton 6, New Britain 2 in New Britain.  Yangervis Solarte singled and doubled, raising his average to .322.  Tony Davis pitched two shutout innings.

Monday--New Britain 15, Portland 5 in Portland. Brian Dozier had two singles, a double, and a triple.  Evan Bigley had two singles and a double.  Deibinson Romero had three hits.

FT. MYERS

Thursday—Bradenton 6, Ft. Myers 5 in Ft. Myers (14 innings).  Nick Romero had two hits.  Matthew Tone struck out three in two shutout innings.

Friday—Bradenton 16, Ft. Myers 5 in Bradenton.  Aaron Hicks had two doubles. Steve Liddle finished the game on the mound and went 1.1 scoreless innings.

Saturday--Bradenton 7, Ft. Myers 5 in Bradenton. Jamaal Hawkins singled and doubled, driving in two.  Kevin Slowey gave up two runs on three hits in two innings, striking out four.

Sunday--Charlotte 3, Ft. Myers 1 in Charlotte. The Miracle had just two hits.  Matt Schuld allowed a run on three hits in four innings.

Monday--Ft. Myers 4, Charlotte 0 in Ft. Myers.  Tom Stuifbergen allowed six hits and no walks in seven innings.  Aaron Hicks and Jamaal Hawkins each singled and doubled.

BELOIT

Thursday--No games scheduled.

Friday--Beloit 3, Cedar Rapids 2 in Beloit. Nate Roberts singled and homered.  Ryan O’Rourke struck out nine in five innings, giving up a run on four hits.

Saturday--Beloit 8, Cedar Rapids 7 in Beloit (10 innings). Adam Bryant doubled twice, driving in four.  Michael Gonzales homered.  Michael Tonkin pitched two shutout innings.

Sunday--Beloit 8, Cedar Rapids 5 in Beloit.  Lance Ray had three hits.  Pat Dean gave up two runs on six hits and a walk in six innings.  Ben Tootle pitched two shutout innings.

Monday--Beloit 9, Clinton 2 in Clinton. Jairo Perez doubled and homered to raise his average to .364. Tobias Streich had two doubles. Andrei Lobanov pitched two shutout innings.

ELIZABETHTON

Thursday--Elizabethton 6, Bluefield 5 in Elizabethton.  Jhonatan Arias singled and homered.  Sam Spangler pitched 2.1 shutout innings.

Friday--Elizabethton 8, Burlington 7 in Elizabethton (10 innings). Matej Hejma had three hits.  Steven Evans gave up an unearned run on no hits and two walks.

Saturday--Elizabethton 3, Burlington 1 in Elizabethton.  Rory Rhodes singled and doubled.  Sam Spangler struck out four in two shutout innings.  Madison Boer struck out the side in the ninth.

Sunday--Elizabethton 12, Burlington 7 in Elizabethton.  Eddie Rosario had two doubles and a home run, scoring three times and driving in five.  Nick Lockwood had three hits.

Monday--Johnson City 10, Elizabethton 5 in Johnson City. Eddie Rosario and Miguel Sano each singled and homered. Pedro Guerra gave up a run and struck out four in 4.1 innings.

GCL TWINS

Thursday--Rays 9, Twins 2 at Twins. Brandon Roberts and Aderlin Mejia had two hits each.  Shay Crawford struck out three in one inning.

Friday--Twins 10, Red Sox 1 at Twins. Oswaldo Arcia had two singles and a triple. Hung Yi Chen struck out six in four shutout innings.

Saturday--Red Sox 5, Twins 4 at Red Sox.  Wander Guillen had two hits. Tim Atherton struck out six in 3.1 innings, giving up two runs on a hit and two walks.

Sunday--No game scheduled.

Monday--Twins 4, Orioles 1 at Orioles.  Jacob Younis was 4-for-4.  Wander Guillen singled and tripled.  Jeff Manship gave up one hit and struck out two in three shutout innings.

DSL TWINS

Thursday--Orioles 7, Twins 4 at Twins.  Dubal Baez had two hits.  Carlos Martinez drove in three runs. Carlos Suarez pitched two scoreless innings.

Friday--Twins 8, Cubs1 3 at Twins (Game 1--Scheduled 7 innings). Ronald Jimenez singled and doubled.  Ezequiel Zarzuela struck out four in two shutout innings.

Cubs1 3, Twins 1 at Cubs1 (Game 2--Scheduled 7 innings). Jose Ramirez had two hits.  Javier Vargas allowed an unearned run on four hits and three walks in four innings.

Saturday--Rockies 11, Twins 5 at Twins. Adonis Pacheco had three hits. Javier Pimentel singled and tripled. Joel Polanco singled and doubled.

Sunday--No game scheduled.

Monday--Twins 13, Reds 2 at Reds.  Javier Pimentel had two doubles and a single, scoring three times and driving in five.  Junior Subero struck out four and gave up two hits in four shutout innings.

NEW BRITAIN

Wednesday—Rays 5, Twins 1 at RaysHein Robb allowed four runs on six hits and two walks in 1.1 innings.  The Twins had only four hits.

DSL TWINS

Tuesday—Twins 5, Diamondbacks 4 at Diamondbacks.  Erick Gonzalez singled and tripled.  Junior Subero struck out five in four shutout innings, giving up three hits and three walks.

Wednesday—Twins 7, White Sox 5 at White SoxJhon Silva had two hits.  Yorman Landa struck out five in 3.2 innings, giving up a run on two hits and two walks.

Minor Details: Games of 6/20

Charlotte 7, Rochester 2 in Charlotte (Game 1—Scheduled 7 innings).  The Knights got all they needed with three in the second and put it away with four in the seventh.  All five Red Wings hits were singles.  Kyle Gibson struck out six in five innings but gave up six runs on eight hits.

Charlotte 5, Rochester 1 in Charlotte (Game 2—Scheduled 7 inningsz).  The Red Wings were limited to four hits in the nightcap, for a total of nine on the doubleheader.  Scott Diamond struck out eight in five innings, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks.

New Britain—No game scheduled.

Ft. Myers 6, Palm Beach 3 in Palm Beach.  The Miracle scored five in the seventh to overcome a 3-0 deficit.  Jamaal Hawkins had two hits.  Nick Romero tripled with the bases loaded to give Ft. Myers the lead.  Kane Holbrooks gave up three runs on four hits and two walks in five innings.  Andrew Albers worked a scoreless sixth to get the win.  Matt Hauser followed with two scoreless innings, and Dakota Watts blanked the Cardinals in the ninth to get his eighth save.

Beloit.  No games scheduled.

GCL Twins 2, Orioles 1 at Twins.  The Twins tied it with a run in the sixth and won with one in the ninth in their league opener.  Drew Leachman singled in Kelvin Silvania with the winning run.  The Twins had only five hits in the game.  Ricardo Arevalo pitched five innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and three walks while striking out five.  Tyler Herr and Luis Nunez followed with two shutout innings each, with Nunez getting the win.

DSL Twins 9, Padres 0.  The Twins scored three in the first and three in the fifth.  They had only eight hits, but were aided by six Padres errors.  Felix Martinez singled and tripled.  Victor Arias singled and doubled, driving in three.  Sterling Bonilla struck out four in four innings, giving up three hits and a walk.  Randy Rosario followed with three hitless innings, walking two and getting the win.

Minor Details: Games of 6/19

Indianapolis 8, Rochester 3 in Rochester.  The Indians score four in the first and that was all they needed.  Trevor Plouffe had three hits and Toby Gardenhire had two.  All nine Red Wings hits were singles.  Ryan Mullins surrendered six runs on eleven hits and two walks in only four innings.  Dusty Hughes and Kyle Waldrop each pitched two shutout innings of relief.

New Britain 5, Reading 3 in Reading.  The Rock Cats scored three in the first, but lost that lead and needed single runs in the seventh and eighth to put the game away.  Chris Parmelee singled and homered.  Yangervis Solarte had two hits to raise his average to .322.  Steve Hirschfeld allowed three runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings.  He struck out seven and walked none.  Michael Tarsi got the win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.  Bruce Pugh pitched two shutout innings to get the save.

Ft. Myers.  No games scheduled.

Indianapolis 7, Rochester 5 in Rochester (Game 1).  The Indians scored four in the sixth to break a 3-3 tie.  Chase Lambin had three hits.  Trevor Plouffe doubled and homered.  Steve Holm had two doubles.  Dustin Martin doubled and singled.  Mike Hollimon had two hits.  Eric Hacker pitched five innings, allowing five runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks.  Chuck James threw two shutout innings.  The Red Wings made three errors.

Rochester 12, Indianapolis 7 in Rochester (Game 2).  The Red Wings scored five in the second and ten in the first four innings.  Trevor Plouffe doubled, tripled, and homered, scoring three times and driving in three.  Steve Holm singled and homered.  Brian Dinkelman and Steve Singleton each had two hits.  Jeff Bailey hit a three-run homer.  Cole DeVries got the win with 3.1 innings of relief, giving up a run on five hits, walking none, and striking out three.

New Britain 2, Reading 1 in Reading.  Dennis Suarez got the win with six shutout innings, giving up four hits and a walk.  Deolis Guerra struck out five in two shutout innings, giving up just one hit and walking none.  Bruce Pugh came in with the tying run on second and struck out the only man he faced for the save.  Deibinson Romero had two doubles.  Chris Parmelee and Yangervis Solarte each had two hits, with Solarte raising his average to .320.  Evan Bigley hit a home run.

FSL All-star Game.  North 5, South 3.  Danny Rams struck out in his only at-bat.  Dakota Watts retired both men he faced, striking out one.

Beloit 7, Burlington 4 in Burlington.  The Snappers scored all their runs in the second inning.  Michael Gonzales had four hits to raise his average to .307.  Wang-wei Lin and Jairo Perez each had two hits, with Perez raising his average to .342.  Andrew Achter pitched seven strong innings, giving up a run on four hits and two walks.  Michael Tonkin worked a scoreless ninth for the save.

DSL Twins 3, Reds 1.  The Twins scored single runs in the third, fourth, and seventh.  They had only four hits in the game.  Jose Jimenez pitched the first three innings, giving up a run on three hits and a walk.  Javier Vargas struck out four in two shutout innings to get the win.  Edgar Martinez struck out three in three shutout innings, and Francisco Nunez pitched a perfect ninth to get the save.
