Minor Details: Games of April 11

SAINTS 5, INDIANS 1 IN INDIANAPOLIS

Andrew Bechtold hit a two-run homer in a three-run fourth that put St. Paul up 3-0.

Mark Contreras was 2-for-3 with two walks.  Andrew Stephenson was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer.  Bechtold's homer was his second.

Bailey Ober struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.  Trevor Megill struck out the side in a perfect inning.

WIND SURGE 8, NATURALS 2 IN WICHITA

Wichita scored three in the first and led all the way.

Jake Rucker was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Alex Isola was 2-for-5 with a home run.  Brooks Lee hit a two-run homer.

Blayne Enlow struck out eight in 4.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits and three walks.  Tyler Beck struck out five in three shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.

KERNELS 10, RIVER BANDITS 5 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Ben Ross hit a two-run homer in the first and Cedar Rapids followed with a four-run second.

Noah Miller was 2-for-2 with three walks and two runs.  Jeferson Morales was 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, and two runs.  Ross was 2-for-5 with a home run and two runs.  Emmanuel Rodriguez hit a three-run homer, his second.

Starter Jaylin Nowlin allowed four runs in 3.1 innings, giving up five hits and three walks and striking out two.  Orlando Rodriguez pitched 1.2 scoreless innings despite walking four.  He struck out one.  Regi Grace struck out two in two shutout innings.

THRESHERS 5, MIGHTY MUSSELS 3 IN CLEARWATER

Justin Crawford's two-run double in the seventh broke a 3-3 tie.

No Fort Myers batter had more than one hit, and they were all singles.

Starter C. J. Culpepper pitched four innings, giving up two unearned runs on one hit and three walks and striking out two.  Zach Veen pitched a perfect inning.

SAINTS 10, INDIANS 6 IN INDIANAPOLIS (12 INNINGS)

St. Paul scored four in the twelfth.

Tony Wolters was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and three runs.  Andrew Stevenson was 3-for-6.  Hernan Perez was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs.

Starter Brent Headrick struck out eight in five innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.  Brock Stewart struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  Jose De Leon struck out two and walked one in a scoreless inning.  Saints pitchers had sixteen strikeouts in twelve innings.

WIND SURGE 3, NATURALS 1 IN NORTHWEST ARKANSAS

Wichita scored two runs without a hit in the eighth to break a 1-1 tie.  They only put one ball in play in the inning:  it went strikeout, walk, error, walk, wild pitch, strikeout, hit batsman, walk, strikeout.

Wichita had just two hits in the game.

Carlos Luna struck out ten in 5.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit and no walks.  Kody Funderburk struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  Alex Scherff struck out two and walked one in 1.1 scoreless innings.  Wind Surge pitchers had fifteen strikeouts.

KERNELS 8, RIVER BANDITS 4 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Emmanuel Rodriguez hit a walkoff grand slam.

Tanner Schobel was 2-for-4.  Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with a walk, a grand slam, and two runs.

Pierson Ohl struck out six in five innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk.  Malik Barrington struck out five in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  Miguel Rodriguez retired both men he faced.  Kernels pitchers had eleven strikeouts.

THRESHERS 6, MIGHTY MUSSELS 0 IN CLEARWATER

The Threshers scored once in the second, third, sixth, seventh, and got two in the eighth.

The Mighty Mussels had just three hits.

Tomas Cleto pitched four innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks while striking out two.  Josh Winder pitched a perfect inning, striking out one.

Minor Details: Game of April 9

CUBS 11, SAINTS 2 IN ST. PAUL

Already leading 5-2, Iowa scored five in the seventh.

Andrew Bechtold was 2-for-4.

Starter Simeon Woods-Richardson pitched 3.2 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks.  He struck out six.  No reliever pitched well.  The best was Cody Laweryson, who gave up one run on one hit and no walks and struck out one in two innings.  The seventh-inning runs came off Trever Megill in his only inning of work.

The rest of the Twins affiliates took Easter Sunday off.  There are no minor league games played on Mondays.

I won't have time to do all the games, but the Saints played an afternoon doubleheader, so I can at least do those.

CUBS 9, SAINTS 7 IN ST. PAUL (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Darius Hill hit a two-run single in the seventh to break a 7-7 tie.

Ryan LeMarre was 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs.  Andrew Bechtold was 3-for-4 with a double.

Starter Aaron Sanchez struck out four in four innings, but allowed four runs on two hits and three walks.

SAINTS 8, CUBS 5 IN ST. PAUL (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Hernan Perez had an RBI single in the second to break a 5-5 tie.

Edouard Julien was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs.  Andrew Bechtold was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.  Kyle Garlick was 2-for-4.

Starter Randy Dobnak lasted just 1.2 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and four walks.  He did strike out three.  Dereck Rodriguez pitched 4.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and three walks and striking out four.  Patrick Murphy struck out two in a perfect inning.

Minor Details: Games of April 7

SAINTS 6, CUBS 2 IN ST. PAUL

Mark Contreras hit a two-run homer in the sixth to give St. Paul a 5-1 lead.

Contreras' homer was his second.  Hernan Perez also homered.  No Saint had more than one hit.

Starter Louie Varland struck out nine in five innings, giving up one run on four hits and one walk.  Trevor Megill pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and three walks and striking out one.  Brock Stewart struck out all four men he faced.

WIND SURGE 2, CARDINALS 0 IN SPRINGFIELD

Wichita scored both runs in the third inning.

Yoyner Fajardo was 2-for-4.  Alex Isola was 2-for-4.

Starter David Festa struck out eight in five shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.  Hunter McMahon struck out three in two perfect innings.  Jordan Brink pitched a scoreless inning, walking one and striking out one.  Michael Boyle pitched a scoreless innings and struck out one.  Springfield had just one hit, a single by Matt Koperniak in the fifth.

KERNELS 5, CHIEFS 4 IN PEORIA (10 INNINGS)

Kala'i Rosario singled home the go-ahead run in the tenth.

Rosario was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Noah Miller was 2-for-5.  Tanner Schobel hit a three-run homer.

Starter Kyle Jones struck out six in 5.1 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and no walks.  Matt Mullenbach struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.  Regi Grace struck out three in two perfect innings.

MIGHTY MUSSELS 4, BLUE JAYS 3 IN DUNEDIN

Fort Myers led 4-1 after three and made it stand up.

No Mighty Mussel had more than one hit.

Starter Andrew Morris struck out seven in 4.1 innings, but gave up three runs on eight hits and no walks.  Josh Winder struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.  Johnathan Lavallee struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  Juan Mendez struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

Minor Details: Game of April 6

CUBS 12, SAINTS 11 IN ST. PAUL

St. Paul scored six in the eighth to go up 11-8, but Iowa came back with four in the ninth.  Christopher Morel's two-run single brought home they tying and go-ahead runs.

Edouard Julien was 2-for-5 with a home run (his second), a walk, three runs, and two RBIs.  Kyle Garlick was 2-for-5 with a home run (his second), two runs, and two RBIs.  Matt Wallner was 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs.  Tyler White was 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk.  The first four men in the Saints lineup were 8-for-19 with three home runs, a double, two walks, seven runs, and nine RBIs.

Starter Baliey Ober struck out six in 2.2 innings, but allowed three runs on three hits and four walks.  The only Saints pitcher to go unscored upon was Connor Sadzeck, who retired the only man he faced.  The four ninth-inning runs were given up by Cody Laweryson.  On the one hand, they were all unearned due to a two-out error.  On the other hand, he gave up four hits and a walk in the inning.

SATURDAY, APRIL 1

SAINTS 6, MUD HENS 1 IN TOLEDO

Chris Williams and Tony Wolters each homered in the second to give St. Paul a 3-0 lead.

Kyle Garlick was 2-for-4.  Williams was 2-for-5 with two runs.   Ryan LeMarre and Matt Wallner also homered.

Starter Aaron Sanchez struck out four in 3.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and three walks.  Dereck Rodriguez struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up two walks.  Trevor Megill struck out five in two scoreless innings, giving up a walk.  Brock Stewart struck out three in a perfect inning.

SUNDAY, APRIL 2

SAINTS 4, MUD HENS 3 IN TOLEDO

Mark Contreras singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth.

Contreras was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.  Wallner was 2-for-4 with two runs.  Elliot Soto was 2-for-4.

Starter Randy Dobnak struck out five in 4.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits and five walks.  Austin Schulfer pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.  Connor Sadzeck pitche two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.

Minor Details: Game of March 31

MUD HENS 7, SAINTS 4 IN TOLEDO

Toledo led 7-1 before the Saints scored three in the ninth.

No Saint had more than one hit.  Edouard Julien and Kyle Garlick each hit a solo homer.

Bailey Ober started and struck out four in three innings, but gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk.  Jose De Leon pitched three shutout innings, but then gave up two in his fourth inning, so his line is 3.1 innings, two runs, three hits, a walk, and two strikeouts.  The only Saint pitcher to go unscored upon was Austin Schulfer, who gave up two hits and struck out one in one inning.
