According to mlb.com Blac_burn "is 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA in four career appearances against the Orioles." Change the ERA to 3.06 and you have pitching joe's numbers for this season. I refuse to look up any more stats for Nick, as with the way this week has gone ignorance is bliss.
But I do think he's been pitching well this season. Hail Blackbeard the Pirate Ace who loves hitting the plank.
The Orioles are having some Britton toeing the rubber tonight. I plan on asking him who designed Kate's dress, then make fun of him for his questionable dental hygene.
If my luck holds out this will be the third year in a row that I go to the MN/Balt tilt that gets rained out. Maybe I have time to make a circle this Bert poster of Baker looking at a pen of bulls.
Take it away Boys, Go Twins!
I don't think I ever experienced a single rain delay in my years of attending every Twins-O's game in Baltimore. Of course, I did go to an early season O's-Red Sox game one year that lasted 13 innings with the final 3 or 4 being played in snow.
I dont think there will be a delay tonight. currently 86 degrees. mostly cloudy is the forecast
It is super windy.
speaking of Sideways and pictures, I will be watching Bottle Shock tonight.
Good flick.
There will be some dongers tonight. Strong wind to left.
Is Boog still BBQing??
I once took an intern there who didn't recognize one of the condiments as horseradish - he thought it was cole slaw or something. Until we got settled into our seats and he took his first bite...
There will be some dongers tonight. Strong wind to left
maybe for the O's
Maybe Cuddles can finally get one.
Correct.
good call GH!
thats a major league level call right there
I absolutely do not understand why I'm blacked out of this game in Iowa...
Mason doxon line
Or Mason City line
Isn't this thing on ESPN? For some reason, I'm getting it on MLB.tv. Are the exclusivity rules different this year?
I've had the same problem with ESPN broadcasts before. The reason is that there's also a local (FSNN) broadcast. Since Iowa is inside the Twins broadcast area, the game is blacked out. This is the case despite the fact that most cable providers do not provide FSNN within Iowa.
This. (I've understood that this is why, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.)
Weak pop-fly and Repko nearly parked it. Hope Blackie's sinker is on
Love to see Kubel driving the ball to left lately.
Hey, Laddie's out tonight! That's good news!
Fortunately, Laddie's out tonight.
Unfortunately, Tolbert's in tonight.
Fortunately, Tolbert also works as a nanny under the alias Muhammad del Fuego.
Oh, snap, I have to go back and read that one again. Nothing unfortunate about that.
Unfortunately, I saw the name "Muhammad del Fuego" on the FBI's Most Wanted list at the post office today.
Fortunately, Laddie is as incompetent as and FBI agent as he is as a hitter.
Unfortunately, I find myself stuck writing only "Unfortunatelys".
Fortunately, Spooky has been volunteered to come in and write the next Unfortunately.
Unfortunately, we've gone so far off topic I'm not sure how to progress the story.
Fortunately, the game is over now, so you guys can concentrate your creative juices.
Unfortunately, I have to go do laundry, so I'm going to be watching the game on delay for a while.
Actually, we're midway through another game and DK's playing. We've got an excuse.
He might mean the baseball game, though.
Oh. In that case, he's probably right.
Cuddles!
An RBI!?
Cuddyer finally not on a pace to drive in zero runs this season.
YES!
BOOM! I credit yickit.
Walks still don't get a point in Pick the Stick? I don't know why I bother waiting for slash lines on Twins broadcasts, then.
but strikeouts cost you points. I do remember Dick whining about that last year. Same as any other out, he said.
so, there are productive strikeouts?
I suppose, for those that involve a passed ball.
Sweet bunt
Yeah! Eat it Reynolds!
nice bunt Luke!
is it too early in the game for a hit-n-run with Holm?
Tolbert just does not look like a hitter.
Mothertolbert.
Dick saying that Tolbert is a single hitter and he gets a double or triple here and there. He had 104 career hits and 8 of those are triples, that equates out to every 13 hits is a triple
so, that's about one out of every thousand ABs?
Just blew by Alex. Ted and Danny keeping me company.
I hope you're not WGOMing while driving!
He controls the car with his mind.
I'm Rifding Hokme.
Ted Robinson is back huh? How has he been? I really liked him as an announcer back in the day.
Sigh. I hate you sometimes, Nick.
Not exactly hard hit balls here
Well, that's the game. Offense isn't scoring again.
These 2011 Twins aren't big on holding leads, are they?
Giveback runs. Awesome, Blackie.
that was a crappy swing on a good pitch that somehow got great results.
Dang.
I have to say neither that swing nor Cuddyer's would have been a homer in Target Field
With Pauer.
dangnabit!
Eff this ish.
Has Mauer With Power ever recorded an out?
HR sound on that one
Kubel sure can't run but he seems pretty competent in the field
The problem is, to be a truly competent fielder, you kind of have to be able to run.
Gardy says Kubel is "one of the most underated outfielders in the game?"
jim palmer believes he's "turned into a pretty good outfielder".
Balls...
Danny just reeled off good Twins outfielders: Span, Hunter, Cuddyer.
where is Dustin Mohr?
Klawitter, I'm getting closer and closer to including Blackburn in our bet.
The tides are turning.
Andino and Pauer have raised their season average a combined .748* points this series
*may not be entirely accurate
This LTE not intended to be a factual statement
oh great, one of these umps.
did I hear that right, Bill Smith said he is not concerned about the lack of runs
[alfred e. newman]
This is where I'd post that Kevin Bacon Animal House picture again!
Cuddyer with a GIDP? No. Way.
I hate double plays. I hate them.
There's the Cuddyer we have all come go love.
Cuddyer really, really wants to be despised
I'm a batter behind on my feed...glad you guys gave me warning.
Trying this again.
Dammit
hmm, you must be posting copyrighted material 😉
I just turned it on and only have once thing to say: Ugh.
I like double plays a lot
Can I see if this works?
Waterfront redo in Baltimore was well done. They have these watertaxis that ferry you around the harbor, cheap and frequent. A good outing is to buzz over to Fell Point for shopping/restaurants.
Other programming is definitely looking more enticing.
Marvelous.
yickit. Nice X.
Vlad the impaler.
Glad I got this beer for the game.
Bridgeport IPA. I'd forgotten how delicious this stuff is.
my house is dry, but the way this series is going, i might go hit up the mouthwash.
I try to keep telling myself that they can't possibly suck this bad all season. Right?.... Right?
Keep telling yourself that- it's gotta be true, right?
I got that IIPA, so my goal is to send a gift out soon.
Awesome. I'm trying to finalize something for you this weekend here.
That reminds me, I need to think of things for bS.
Had Peak Organic King Crimson last night (Imperial Red Ale). Was quite nice - full bodied beaut.
Nice view.
(Ought to have my old Worf avatar for that line)
I'm back to live!
Also, it looks like I'm going to be able to get my poker money out of my account!
Remember when four runs didn't seem so insurmountable?
I think Jeremy Bonderman was pitching
Those were good times.
That's one way to get a DP.
Manny is enjoying the good life in retirement.
Speaking of sports humor, I heard Reusse on the radio today absolutely gushing over Norm Macdonald's new show on Comedy Central. Haven't seen it yet, but I'm a big fan of Norm.
Note to self... DVR Norm's show before it gets canceled.
I didn't even know he had one!
its all right, but its only a couple shows in. It has a SNL 'Weekend Update' feel to it, but also has some taped pieces
I like Norm fairly well too. Deadpan comics are generally my favorite.
Fun fact, though: he has one of the most boring Twitter feeds out there.
Yeah, I think I unfollowed him about four days after I started following him.
It seems like forever since we've gotten a big 2-out hit.
Come on Juicy!
have we got a 2 out base hit this year?
There was the crazy A's game, but other than that - not many hits to extend rallies.
o's got plenty last night...
w00t!
Hello Everybody!
Hi Dr. Nick!
Nice, Danny.
Juicy!!!
Well, things have improved now that I'm here. I guess.
Don't cry for me, Valencia.
yay, danny. another weakly hit ball bleeding through the infield (i'll still take it).
Time for more laundry. I'll hopefully catch up with you guys by the end of the game.
Juicy! Well, not that juicy, but it was placed nicely.
zested?
Ooh, I like.
Did somebody say juicy?
Mmmm. *thwack*
So, I predict Blackie gives up 2 runs this inning...
Well, if I have to be completely wrong, I guess this is a good time for it to happen.
Hamburgers, Bush's Best baked beans, Fritos, and a Blue Paddle. I was literally grilling in the sleet and rain while the sun was shining. Bloody weather.
roll that beautiful bean footage...
I love Bush's Baked Beans
Leftover jollof rice we made when we had our host student from Sierra Leone at the house.
Jollof looks interesting - I'll check it out.
It's basically less spicy jambalaya. It's very interesting to see how much the New Orleans cuisine that Sheenie grew up with is completely derivative of the West African cuisine that our host student grew up with.
Pizza! Pizza!
Robinson now in the Twin-squawk-booth. I see he has some French Open experience. No cricket.
that was a quick inning
I'm back!
Let's do this boys.
Kubes is glad to see you; Cuddy, not so much.
Nothing a 3-run rally can't cure.
Dude!
Now we just need a tater!
Are you experienced?
Man, my placement sucks.
Admit it. You were just looking for an excuse to talk to me.
Aren't we all?
My daughters are always amazed, and a bit horrified, when I strike up conversations with total strangers in public places.
Dude lays it out there.
Come on twins
Double Juiced!
Juicy^2!
Nice to pick this back up and see a run scored.
that was an honest RBI right there.
Hoo-Hah! DannyV delivers the grinder.
Valencia...SWEET!
Ooof, Holm-Tolbert-Span for the ninth.
Get well soon Joe and Justin.
Butters is available on the bench
and Casilla!
Nope, he ran for Big Jim
Casilla pinch ran for Thome.
So is Morneau, said the Dazzleman before the game.
Well that is a positive development.
so, PH for holm, pleaz?
You will get no such thing.
Seriously though, why is Holm playing more than Butters? Butters isn't much, but Holm seems worse.
gardy goes by role, not performance. butters is a backup catcher. i don't see what's so hard about this.
Stupid logic.
[sad trombone]
Maybe Morneau isn't available- otherwise you'd think HOLM or Tolbert wouldn't have been up there swinging.
Dick said Morneau was unavailable.
Time for one of those Spring Training Rochester rallies to win the game.
Perkins earns his keep. Time for Greatness.
GreBB is coming in.
Kevin Gregg. Two first names. One more and he'd be a convicted serial killer.
Kevin Wayne Gregg?
Actually, his middle name is Marschall. Not a first name in my book.
My best friend's son is named Marshall. Does the spelling difference matter?
I contend that the "c" takes it out of first name qualification. But I am a strict traditionalist. And even "Marshall" to me is more of a last name used as a first name than vice versa. YMMV.
Not sure it's about my mileage, man. Marshall is a first name, and I know at least three or four of them.
One is over 50. Is that not traditional enough (alright, the "c" is still pretty goofy)? I just don't want to deny Kevin Gregg his serial killer status, you know?
I am somewhat playing Devil's advocate here, because I do know one guy named "Marshall" (no "c"). Honestly, though, I know more people who have it for a last name. But I do agree with you on Kevin Gregg.
Well, he still looks like a d-bag.
Isn't that just an alternate spelling of Marshall? That's totally a first name.
Like Marshall Dillon, or Marshall Cogburn, right?
[Marshall Tucker Band youtube imbed]
The YouTube link embed thing should work now.
Tolbert!
That is not the thing to do with the 3-1 pitch right down the middle.
What a horrific at bat
What a
horrifictotally expected at batIt was moderately better than the one yesterday where he looked at 3 pitches right down the middle.
Tolberttolbert!
This Tolbertin Tolberts.
Fack.
Tolberttolberttolbert!
Nice catch - fwack.
Want to hear something funny? Sheecago lost again.
That does make me feel a bit better. Helps that they are doing it at comparatively full strength as well.
This team depresses me right now.
as another cherry on your day, i think yer FB's got some
spanspam action.Damn. Had that spooky feeling for Span there.
Commence crappy walk and car ride home. Crax.
Well, I think it's high time to do some QC on the beer I bought today and get some reading done.
Well you can't win them all(or 2/3rds of 'em).
or 1/3 of 'em
things could be worse: the Pale Hose have a 7 game losing streak or our team could be bankrupt and run by MLB
