Ha Ha Tonka — Made Example of

Couldn't end my week without playing some Tonka! At SXSW, March 2011.

For those of you who found the other stuff I've played unlistenable, this music should appeal to broader audiences. I've said it before, but I think this is the best band in the world right now. Plenty more after the jump.

"Usual Suspects" acoustic, also at SXSW 2011.

"Caney Mountain" and "Close Every Valve to Your Bleeding Heart" at Off Broadway in St. Louis, May 2009. The second song has rockingest use of "Dostoevsky" in lyrics possible.

Ha Ha Tonka has two covers that they regularly play in their sets. One is "Black Betty" and the other is "12-Inch Three-Speed Oscillating Fan," originally by Bay-Area Honky-Tonk revivalists Red Meat. Here is a clip of them playing the second of those with members of Linfinity and Murder by Death at Lincoln Hall in Chicago, May 2010.
