  1. I'm digging the Triple-A outfield. It's fun to watch outfielders who can run, and, you know, catch.

    1. I'm much more sold on Repko than Raging Tonsils, but maybe that's just cuz 'ko has been around longer.

  2. Gardenhire has asked for Plouffe to play first in Rochester. Maybe he can be Ty Wigginton. That's a useful player.

    1. Chief Wigginton has hit 20+ HRs four separate times in the Majors, and twice in the minors. Plouffe has never hit more than 15 in a season in the minors, although he's already got 15 this year in Rochester. But he's 25. Wigginton did it at ages 21 and 22. But I doubt it.

I hope you are right, and I hope this season is an indication that Plouffe has grown into a reasonable power threat.

    1. I'm worried that Nathan won't be available. Hopefully, he'll be allowed to finally work back-to-back games, if needed. He did that in AAA, so I would think he could do it in the majors, but somehow I doubt he'll be available in a day game after a night game. Here's hoping for a blowout win, complete-game dominance by Liriano or a walkoff win.

    1. hoooody, zap!

Say, I'm going to be in town next week instead of the week after, so unless you want to meet to "watch" the HR derby, I don't mind if you want to skip this time around.

    1. This, and last night's ending must be the Twins exorcising the Demon of Damon.

  3. Franchise sends them down in the 1st. And in a related note the Australia-Norway WWC game suddenly got interesting.

  4. Twins pitcher hits their first batter, Twins' first batter hits their pitcher.

    Symmetry.

        1. TK's strong suit was the post game presser, he's not very good with the open format or color guys.

    1. I missed that, but I've been enjoying Bob Kurtz on the broadcasts. He has a good voice, a calm delivery, and doesn't spend the whole game trying to show how smart he is.

  5. Oh, I just spilled my lunch because dick wet his pants with the call on that fly out.

    1. At least the bottom half of the order was nice enough to not give him any time to think about it.

  6. Sorry guys - I've been here the whole time - TK's incredible personality must of put me to sleep - I just woke up and here I am at my desk with the game on.

  7. Liriano channeling his inner Cicotte today by beaning the first batter and then giving up 2 runs in the 2nd? Nobody wants to look bad, Frankie's gonna have to do it all himself.

  8. The Rays' announcers want to introduce some sort of appeal replay system like in the NFL.

    No robo-umps, no deal.

        1. Yeah, but we don't need him to be awesome in February. Although, if he's named in October...

  9. Interesting decision to cut off that throw. He would've been nailed at the plate.

  10. I would've preferred if two fewer runs were scored in that half-inning, but it does make the comeback that much better.

    1. I just watched the highlight of Jimmers getting thrown out at the plate. He barely brushed the catcher, and the poor guy almost ended up getting whiplash.

        1. I'm not sure Jimmers can get his shoulder down and still "run". It was a much closer play than I expected it was going to be.

    1. Aw, FFS. Deflection off the wall, goal for Sweden. Shoddy defending by Buehler to give away that free kick in the first place.

  11. Small K-zone for Revere- I know he's short, but there's gotta be a top of the zone there somewhere.

  12. A 3-2 FASTBALL for the strikeout. Even when he succeeds Mijares is unlikeable.
Edited to add: also a 3-0 fastball, and a 3-1 fastball both taken. It was pretty much exactly the same progression as the Prince Fielder at bat.

      1. RIP Sports Show with Norm McDonald. My friend Sad Bill Cosby greatly expresses my views on the show's cancellation.

  13. I just saw these redundant headlines at the Strib:

Mauer to 1B tomorrow, Baker might miss Sunday start
Light rail service in downtown Mpls. shutting down this weekend

  14. Last inning, I noticed on Gameday that Cruz had yet to allow a homer this season and totally spooky'd someone hitting one this game.

  15. Effin' giveback runs. Gardy got all the turds pulled out of the bullpen yet?

  16. why is burnett still on this ballclub (i was typing that before the homer too)?

    1. Since beginning of June for Burnett (prior to today): 13 games, 9.1 IP, 8 K, 0 BB, 2.89 ERA, 1 HR, .518 OPS against. I'd rather have Burnett in there than Capps at this point.

  17. Perkins would have been pitching this inning if Capps didn't suck so much.

  18. Two innings, 4+ runs to score. Unlike earlier in the year, this is at least slightly possible for the Twins to do.

    1. If you have three catchers on the roster, you have to use at least two per game, right?

  19. That Revere kid seems to be putting the ball in play a lot more too. Does he watch with Nishi?

  20. I'm liking this Nishi-Revere combo. If we ever get Span and Kubel back, we've got some decent pieces to stick together.

    1. damn. farnsworth was warming up too. i was really hoping for a matchup between the professor and JI
      JIM THOME.

  21. i don't think FSN should be playing music from an album called "race to the bottom".

  22. dick: do you like the squeeze play?
    TK: when it works.

    heh, nice one, TK.

  23. Who is A. Russell and why is he pitching like he belongs in the Twins bullpen?

    1. Bases weren't loaded for Thome, of course. A single here for Mauer, and we're only down by 5!

  24. Gurgh. Glad that's over. Hide the fireworks and cover the puppies' eyes, boys.

  25. I had a meeting that started right after the bottom of the 7th. I was annoyed when I left my desk. I guess the timing was pretty decent after all.

  26. got home to see Mauer strikeout to end the game. 14 hits and only 1 extra base hit (Cuddys HR) ouch

I was going to mention this last night, but forgot. Phil DUmatrait looks like Boof Bonser, but left handed
