  1. This is the MLB.tv free game tonight. Hopefully it won't be blacked out; last time it wasn't. Don't know why it wasn't blacked out, but I got to see it. Then again, after yesterday I may not want to.

  2. I'd like the Twins to sell about 40% of the starting rotation, more than half the bullpen, and Delmon. Can we send it all to Florida for Hanley Ramirez?

Having said that, I do want them to keep the rest of the season interesting.

          1. who's the clown in the booth with dicky? is it smalley? he's pretty wretched. according to him, nishioka did a great job grounding weakly to 1st, and _elmon did a great job getting tagged out at home.

  3. This may or may not be the last game I get to watch with all of you for a while since I'll be moving soon. I may be around tomorrow, but we'll see.

Anyway, it's got to be better than last night!

    1. Especially since he's batting cleanup, right? I mean, who would put a left-handed hitter who has struggled against lefties in the cleanup spot?

  4. evening, all. Famished Pete and i'd like to watch longer than the 4th, so this is a good start.

  5. I know Butters likes to try to pick off runners...A LOT. Has he ever been successful? I've never seen it

      1. Which is funny because I would think the Twin's have many in their organization that offer very strong proof that what works in AAA doesn't always work in the show.

    1. isn't it sweet being able to watch games on the big scr-- oh, right. nevermind.

    1. I never miss a perfect game, but the Cheeseburger? The Yankees? Against a team that's already lost 16 in a row? It wouldn't exactly be a feel-good affair.

      1. Hey, this is the first time I've had the opportunity to do this since I got MLB.tv. Besides, I willed the Mariners to a hit.

              1. At the earliest, I'll have it on the 3rd. Worst case is probably the 13th or so, but by then I might not care that much anyway. I could watch on my phone, I suppose...

                    1. Actually, if I traveled back about 5-10 years, I probably would have had a much easier time getting a job.

                1. Thanks for the link, cow. I've never understood what it is about Ms. Welch that I love so much, since it's not a style I get into, but she transcends all my biases.

      1. Heh. Of course, since it just showed up on my radar because they were delayed. I look forward to hearing that he would have finished the perfecto if there hadn't been a 30-minute delay.

        1. Yep. That was pretty much the first thing that came out of the Yankee's announcer's mouth after the hit.

                1. Seeing as how both are completely un-listenable (in my most humble of opinions) regardless of homerism, I'd say its close. Michael Kay is the worst kind of announcer, a Yankee's announcer who also sucks at it.

                  1. Meh, I get the feeling I wouldn't notice him if he wasn't cheering for the Yankees. But, because he is, I tire of him very quickly.

Hawk, on the other hand, would be hideous regardless of team affiliation. He spends entire games talking about nothing but the umps having a vendetta against his team. I seriously don't understand how such behavior doesn't get a guy fired.

                    1. To settle this debate, I'll say that at least Kay is a New York native, whereas Hawk has no ties to the White Sox other than his paycheck.

                    1. What?! I might have to do some painful field research. It's been a while since I braved a Yankee broadcast, but I'd take death over Hawk.

              1. I can't imagine anything being worse than Hawk--even Hitler...or castration.

  6. Remember when the Twins were winning a bunch of games because the starting pitching didn't suck?

    1. Just wait until that deadline deal for a reliever goes down...

(I think it might be time to sell.)

  7. It was 3-2 when we left the restaurant to walk home. I get back and it's 3-7. I'm not gonna bother with the rest of the game.

      1. Next commercial break I'm going to get Catherine installing on my PS3. If this gets anymore out of hand, I'm just going to play that for the rest of the evening.

          1. A strikeout also sucks. Does it make me a jerk to say that he's my least favorite Twin of the entire time I've been alive?

    1. I predict every out the Twins make for the remainder of the game will be one of those.

  8. The following hitters, while much better than Spooky at hitting the baseball, are not batters I'd like to see batting in a situation like this.

  9. why is anyone bothering to run home on infield bouncers this game (and again, smalley thinks it was a good play)?

    1. Sometimes you have to make outs on the basepaths up to three or four times in one game to keep the opposing fielders on their toes.

  10. Nothing separates the TRUE long term die hard fans from the not so die hard fans like a good full discussion on your most ever hated player.

          1. I never really hated A.J. while he was with the team. Even now I don't hate him in the same way I'd hate a Sabathia or Buehrle.

            1. Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.

    1. Congratulations on getting married, Mr. Capps. I hope you throw your back out boning your new wife and are placed on the 60 day DL.

  11. I am starting to think pitching (non-Baker division) is a problem on this team.

          1. Yeah, it's not like he's any great shakes as a pitcher. I thought he'd end up hitting too. It appears his numbers as a hitter are way down this year...maybe he's losing his instincts there.

  12. plouffe! plouffe!d that one (i'm all for a similar usage as "smurf" with "plouffe!)

    1. That was disappointing.

Maybe we'll see Mauer next inning...and Thome...is he available?

  13. I can't prove it - but I am pretty sure there is something Crapps did wrong that caused that hit to be a knuckleball.

      1. When they came back from commercial, I heard The Chicken Dance. The Chicken Dance has all but disappeared from weddings at this point.

          1. You were close. Paste the link like you did, but change the http to be httpv. It will then auto-embed.

  14. Did Bert get something in his contract that stated "while I am away from the broadcast booth for Hall of Fame duties - you are required to find a replacement so ignorant and irritating that it causes fans to actually miss my talent."?

  15. I am so pumped up for Plouffe! to hit a game winning walk off dinger. I guess a game tying HR would also be acceptable.

  16. The way _elm_n shakes his bat and his knees at the plate just screams confidence and competence to me and I am completely shocked every time he strikes out on a pitch in the dirt or pops up to shallow left field.

  17. Question: Should the Twins have pinch ran Repko for Delmon and had Nishi bunt?

  18. This would be a great time for Mauer's first dinger on the season. Come on dingers!

      1. I am grasping for straws at this point. Ms Buffalo is starting to think it was a bad idea.

      1. With the Calf I suggested the first name Gideon. She hated it so much she granted me Mauer as a middle name. I joke that I am going to suggest Jesus as a name in the event of another calf so I can have Radke as a middle name this time. I haven't let Ms Buffalo in on the joke yet.

  19. Looks like they're pitching around Revere to get to Casilla. Not a bad move, IMO.

  20. I'm fine with Cruz hitting hit there. I just wish it would have been harder.

  21. MLBN: I don't want to see highlights of the Royals-Red Sox game, again, when there's an active, really close game occurring.

      1. He froze him. It was really impressive. LEN III also mentioned that Nathan's slider has looked the best it has since he came back tonight.

    1. I agree. He wanted to send you off on your move in a winning fashion.

      1. 🙂

I had such a good time, I might just come back tomorrow. We'll see how things work out. 🙂

          1. I'd just like to point out that despite not being an actual number, my answer is clearly right.

            1. I posited [6, ∞) while you said { a jillion }. Clearly, { a jillion } ⊂ [6, ∞).

              1. Yeah, but if a jillion is the correct answer, then it's a better answer than >= 6.

      1. i think homeboy's holding out and has a few that he needs to add.

        (and, yeah, that's pretty sweet)
