It is customary as WGOM vjays to play songs with live videos. Today, I am breaking that custom. You can give this video a lesser rating because of that. However, it is my duty to bring you terrific music. This is me doing so.

The Shakes are an unsigned band out of Alabama that have a lady singing Otis Redding tunes kind of vibe to them. This is their profile page on reverb nation. While they are not playing in the Twin Cities soon, nor do they have a record out for you to buy, I suggest keeping an eye on this group. This song is too good to go unnoticed.

  1. I'm very hit/miss with my video listening. I'll go months without listening to one, then I'll listen to one randomly. This was the one randomly. And I'm glad I did, that was really good. This has taught me 2 things - listen to the vids more often, and keep any eye on these guys.

  2. I'm not going to make a habit of playing non-live tunes but I've been searching for a version of this song for too long and needed to share it.

      (by the way, word on the street is they're soon to be "the alabama shakes")

  3. It appears the band will be having to change their name in the near future. So keep an eye our for the Alabama Shakes rather than just the Shakes.

    1. heartily agreed (i cheated and listened to it before it's WGOM debut as well, back when it was a little post that you probably never heard of). unfortunately, i can't find any of their tunes on the internets. i wish there was someway i could get this song onto my JoePod...
