The Pussy is pretty good at baseball.
The ipad tells me Mauer with a ground rule double.
Not even a REAL double.
Make mine a double!
Cudiier wouldn't want to let Joe show him up.
DUUUUUUDE!
Kubel'd again.
This has to be the first time this team has had 4 extra base hits in one inning all season (let alone in a row), right?
Sad to say, I'd bet you're right.
Twins spending their runs like drunken sailors on shore leave.
That was Mauer's 500th RBI. JoeC:
Back-to-back doubles by Plouffe and Mauer. That's 500 career RBI for Mauer, and a whopping 28 this year.
Every chance anyone gets in the media, must stick a knife in Mauer. It's almost like an obligation. Yeah, 28 RBI. He's missed a lot of games.
And considering the OBP of the batters in front of him hasn't exactly been stellar.
Others Batted in Percentage, 2011: Mauer 15.6%; Cuddyer 13.7%
A great year for Cuddyer, a down year for Mauer.
I thought we were still living in a fact free universe?
That's too bad because JoeC is usually pretty objective and even-keeled. Of course, he's stuck covering this abomination for a team on a daily basis. But that's what they are paying him for.
He wrote the blurb about Nishi not even trying, too.
Chill, bud.
It seems that JoeC isn't as good at taking criticism as JoeM. Another area where JoeM is better.
It appears you struck a nerve.
Yeah, way to go you crazy, mean mafia guys
It was "unfair", I tells ya!
I dream of a future where beat writers can spout off ill-thought opinions, free from facts and context.
Free @JoeCStrib!
Maybe he's auditioning for Souhan's job.
He's gonna have to dumb it down a little.
The Twitter exchange I just read makes me want to buy you a beer, sbg.
I'm too lazy to figure out how to find twit streams. Is somebody gonna link?
You may have to look around for the SBG bit, but this link should at least get you in the door.
Edit: If I would've read further, I'd have seen tangs LTE below...in any case, there are some really thoughtful responses in there - reminiscent of a strib comments section.
who's tang?
can we just call him "Fuzzy Cosmonaut"?
in all honestly, i thought CoC was the victim of a random sean-->tang autocorrect (he shoulda looked up instead of down), and i was trying to be a smartass. it all makes sense now, thanks to tangsean's visual representation.
(p.s. sean: apparently, i'm staying in the same buffalo hotel you did in a couple weeks)
Cool. Unless it's the same room, then creeeepy. The food is a bit overpriced, though decent. Their wifi setup is annoying (have to "register" for it, bleh), and mediocre. It's a bit drafty and cold at night, but.. oh wait, that's E's hotel.
Buffalo hotel. Is that a metaphor, or, like, a hotel in Buffalo?
apparently, i'm staying in the same buffalo hotel you did in a couple weeks...
No joke, -6, I've had a tour of that hotel, in bracelets.
What's SBG's twitter handle?
It's impressive that a guy who, for the most part this season, has hit following guys with OBPs of .267, .300, and .322 (in that order) could manage to get to 25 RBI's.
Edited to add: Or what the former Bossman said above.
What's not so impressive is the fact he's knocked himself in just once this season.
That's true. I'm disappointed by that, too, but given his overall level of play over his career, I think it's almost a given that the guy is really hurting.
I sure hope you're right, Stick. I so badly want Joe's 2011 to be an anomaly, rather than a harbinger.
It could be both, unfortunately.
edit: What I mean is, it could be a harbinger, i.e., he may not get healthy.
Heh. Now I'm part of Mauer's twitter mafia, per JoeC:
@JoeCStrib JoeChristensen
To Mauer's Twitter Mafia: Strike the use of the word "whopping" from my earlier tweet.
JoeChristensen
@JoeCStrib JoeChristensen
Also, please note that my reference to Cuddyer's "team-leading" RBI total (63) was meant to be an indictment of the team, not praise for #5.
@JoeCStrib JoeChristensen
RT @martellus732: @JoeCStrib Sometimes beat writers are so transparent. Mauer = bad interview. Cuddyer = good interview = does no wrong
Well then
Luke, use the force.
Why that be a dongeree-doo!
I've come to the conclusion that the problem must have been where I was living.
Peavy's pitching like he's audtioning for the Twins bullpen.
Way to come out and throw strikes. Is it time for give backs already?
I'm here -- let the scoring commence! Oh...nevermind.
No give-back runs! Woohoo!
that IS progress
Just realized that the Twins were mathematically eliminated from the wild card race with the loss last night.
Guess they'll have to focus on the division now.
Oh, they're plenty divisive.
Thank God. The suspense of the give-back runs was killing me.
Give-back runs. 🙁
It's not like we can expect a shut out every game. And it was 3 innings later.
frugaltrinket says "Go Twins!"
She also asks "why no video of Kuble and Hughes dongers?"
Aw.
In just 4 years, she'll probably be crying at the end of a tough loss at Target Field!
No amount of Twins buffoonery this year can take the shine off the Frugaltrinket.
Indeed. No matter their suck right now, I wanted her wearing that logo the first time she came through the door to her house.
Nice catch, tonsils.
5th inning, and I'm just now noticing that it's a day game? I suck at watching them play as much as they suck at playing. And of course I miss six runs.
It was a fun top of the 1st.
And my twitter dustup with JoeCStrib.
Enjoying it now.
The Consigliere.
He's gonna get banned by Batgurl JoeC!!!!1111one111!!
It's the price I pay.
trickle trickle
I've had this nagging feeling ever since the 2nd inning that the 6-run outburst in the 1st would be our total for the game.
Replican says, "Needer needer needer!"
Nevermind
Repko says 'nahhh'.
Jason Repko apparently does not agree.
Repko'd.
Not that I was missing elmn anyway, but the replacement outfielder dudes sure are making his absence even less noticeable.
His Tiggers OPS was down to a whopping .684 before going 1-for-3 with a sac fly today.
1 for 3 with SAC fly = .583 OPS (assuming single), so down we go.
And that's an improvement for the Tigers.
Har, nice use of "whopping."

This will be a stupid question: how do I give myself an avatar?
there's a link on the front page under the video (Sick of Lurking?).
Perkins is trying to create the all-important save situation for Nathan.
Ed Farmer keeps calling Perkins "Duensing" and confusing the heck out of me.
There were easier ways for Perkins to set up the save than the way he chose.
Whew!
Just trying to make it exciting, it would appear.
Edit: Which was supposed to go under DPWY's comment. Score.
I can understand if you don't want to have anything to do with me right now. (You have no idea how much I agonized over who to choose.)
Oh Lord, no. It's a game. I'd have to be mental to get all hot under the collar about a game.
I was agonizing over my plans, anyway. That was half the fun.
This one - the elimination, and the entire season - has been wild. Of course, I still suspect Daneeka's Ghost will swoop in and win the thing somehow.
I feel like one of the cult members in Call of Cthulhu.

That ball 4 looked like strike 3 to me.
non-obligatory two RISP
Nathan doing his best Crapps impression.
with Crapps, that Konerko excuse-me bloop would have been a line drive off the wall
uh huh
Sweet god.
That was one ugly "save".

Good job, now teach the others how to do that.
