  1. This has to be the first time this team has had 4 extra base hits in one inning all season (let alone in a row), right?

  2. That was Mauer's 500th RBI. JoeC:

    Back-to-back doubles by Plouffe and Mauer. That's 500 career RBI for Mauer, and a whopping 28 this year.

    Every chance anyone gets in the media, must stick a knife in Mauer. It's almost like an obligation. Yeah, 28 RBI. He's missed a lot of games.

    1. That's too bad because JoeC is usually pretty objective and even-keeled. Of course, he's stuck covering this abomination for a team on a daily basis. But that's what they are paying him for.

          1. It seems that JoeC isn't as good at taking criticism as JoeM. Another area where JoeM is better.

                    1. You may have to look around for the SBG bit, but this link should at least get you in the door.

                      Edit: If I would've read further, I'd have seen tangs LTE below...in any case, there are some really thoughtful responses in there - reminiscent of a strib comments section.

                    2. in all honestly, i thought CoC was the victim of a random sean-->tang autocorrect (he shoulda looked up instead of down), and i was trying to be a smartass. it all makes sense now, thanks to tangsean's visual representation.

                      (p.s. sean: apparently, i'm staying in the same buffalo hotel you did in a couple weeks)

                    3. Cool. Unless it's the same room, then creeeepy. The food is a bit overpriced, though decent. Their wifi setup is annoying (have to "register" for it, bleh), and mediocre. It's a bit drafty and cold at night, but.. oh wait, that's E's hotel.

                    4. apparently, i'm staying in the same buffalo hotel you did in a couple weeks...

                      No joke, -6, I've had a tour of that hotel, in bracelets.

    2. It's impressive that a guy who, for the most part this season, has hit following guys with OBPs of .267, .300, and .322 (in that order) could manage to get to 25 RBI's.

      Edited to add: Or what the former Bossman said above.

        1. That's true. I'm disappointed by that, too, but given his overall level of play over his career, I think it's almost a given that the guy is really hurting.

            1. It could be both, unfortunately.

              edit: What I mean is, it could be a harbinger, i.e., he may not get healthy.

              1. Heh. Now I'm part of Mauer's twitter mafia, per JoeC:

                @JoeCStrib JoeChristensen
                To Mauer's Twitter Mafia: Strike the use of the word "whopping" from my earlier tweet.

                JoeChristensen
                @JoeCStrib JoeChristensen
                Also, please note that my reference to Cuddyer's "team-leading" RBI total (63) was meant to be an indictment of the team, not praise for #5.

                @JoeCStrib JoeChristensen
                RT @martellus732: @JoeCStrib Sometimes beat writers are so transparent. Mauer = bad interview. Cuddyer = good interview = does no wrong

  3. Just realized that the Twins were mathematically eliminated from the wild card race with the loss last night.

    Guess they'll have to focus on the division now.

    1. In just 4 years, she'll probably be crying at the end of a tough loss at Target Field!

      No amount of Twins buffoonery this year can take the shine off the Frugaltrinket.

      1. Indeed. No matter their suck right now, I wanted her wearing that logo the first time she came through the door to her house.

  4. 5th inning, and I'm just now noticing that it's a day game? I suck at watching them play as much as they suck at playing. And of course I miss six runs.

  5. I've had this nagging feeling ever since the 2nd inning that the 6-run outburst in the 1st would be our total for the game.

    1. Not that I was missing elmn anyway, but the replacement outfielder dudes sure are making his absence even less noticeable.

        FTFY

    1. I can understand if you don't want to have anything to do with me right now. (You have no idea how much I agonized over who to choose.)

      1. Oh Lord, no. It's a game. I'd have to be mental to get all hot under the collar about a game.

        I was agonizing over my plans, anyway. That was half the fun.

      2. This one - the elimination, and the entire season - has been wild. Of course, I still suspect Daneeka's Ghost will swoop in and win the thing somehow.

  6. Twins are 2-2 in their last four games and are averaging 6.5 runs in their last two games!!!!!1111111!!!!!!!!
