The semi-finals in the Mexican League are completed. Obregon defeated Mexicali four games to one and Guasave defeated Culiacan four games to two. Obregon and Guasave will now play for the championship.
The round-robin in the Dominican League is completed. Escogido won with a record of 11-7. Licey and Aguilas tied for second at 9-9 and are playing tonight. I assume that means the winner plays Escogido for the championship, but I could not confirm that.
If anyone knows of a place where Caribbean League playoff procedures are explained, I'd appreciate it if you'd share that information with me.
Alexi Casilla led off the bottom of the first with a single, was picked off, tried to get to second, and was thrown out. He was removed from the game before the next inning. One assumes those things are related, but I have no idea whether it's anything serious or not.
"FUNDAMENTALS, 'Lexi! Hit the showers."
I don't know if this site is kept up to date, but it appears to include everything about the Dominican Winter League. Of particular note is Casilla leading the league in batting average and stolen bases. Only one caught stealing (as of when it was last updated) as well!
From what I see there, it appears that my assumption is correct, and that the winner of the Licey-Aguilas game plays Escogido for the championship.
