I thought I played this before but after some review it looks like I have not. Either way, I have found myself on a bit of a R.E.M. kick since the group called it quits. This, I think, is my favorite number from the group.

With some lady named Patti.
Awesome. I'd say this or "Country Feedback" as my favorite song from the Athenians.
"Country Feedback" is my fave.
Or maybe "Losing My Religion", despite my desire to pick something that wasn't their biggest hit.
ZOMG! they're using an e-bow in a song called "e-bow the letter"! that's, like, some inception type crap, yeah?
Watching this video, Michael Stipe really bothers me for the first time. I remember people hating on him back in the 90's and I didn't really get it, but now I kindof do. There's a certain pomposity to his performance.
R.E.M.'s Monster Tour was the best-ever seats I got for a big concert: Third row at Target Center, Late May, 1995. (Finals week my Junior year of HS?) That was kindof the crest of my R.E.M. fandom. Sonic Youth opened, and I got hooked on them. I've probably listened to SY 200 times more often than R.E.M. since then.
i can't remember who said it, but i remember them saying something about how michael stipe should sticking to singing instead of talking, or something to that effect.
i only saw them once live over at midway stadium in about 2000 or so, but it was an awesome show. it start to rain about halfway through, and then it started to really rain. they ended up having to cut it a little short due to all the lightning and all, but not that much. they appropriately ended it with "it's the end of the world as we know it (and i feel fine)", just when all hell was breaking loose with the weather (absolutely pouring rain, lightning, thunder, the works). the fact that i was there with a special lady friend that i still miss from time to time was icing on the cake. good times...
