Only one Twins affiliate was in action yesterday.  Red Wings pitchers allowed three home runs.  Drew Butera was used as a pinch-runner.

BUFFALO 5, ROCHESTER 3 IN ROCHESTER

Offensive star:  Rene Rivera was 2-for-3 with a home run.

Pitching star:  Jeff Manship struck out four in 3.1 perfect innings of relief.

Opposition stars:  Valentino Pascucci and Matt Tuiasosopo each singled and homered.  Daniel Herrera worked two shutout innings of relief.

Key inning:  The eighth.  Pascucci’s homer in the top of the inning gave the Bisons a 4-3 lead.  The Red Wings had there 3-4-5 hitters, Joe Benson, Matt Carson, and Matt Rizzotti, coming up in the bottom half.  Herrera retired them in order, striking out Benson and Rizzotti.

Other:  Rivera singled leading off the seventh.  Drew Butera came in to pinch-run for him.  One suspects this is a role to which Butera is not particularly accustomed.
