It is a little early in the season to read too much into anything but there is one thing I can say for certain-- the 1991 Minnesota Twins did not win their third game of the season until their twelfth game.
Chew on that one for a minute.

no Teixeira tonight. Flu-like symptoms
Tragic.
Clete isn't in the lineup? What is Gardy thinking?
So basically you're saying the Twins are going to win the World Series this year? Sounds good to me!
They'll win it in 6 Games!
I guess it was too much to ask the Twins to score in the first inning two games in a row.
Oh crap, just notice that the Twins can get Cuzzi'd this series. He's at first base tonight, home tomorrow.
He already screwed us once last night by calling Carroll out on a steal attempt where he was safe. It was a tough call, but still, he was wrong.
Phil Cuzzi wrong? Why I never!
Andruw Jones tonight, Eric Chavez last night. Is New York a retirement home for players that were good in the 90s?
Where's ARod and Jeter?
WILLINGHAMMER
The Ham is Willing!!
Bandbox.
I like this guy.
Josh Willingham is a pretty cool dude.
Anyone else having mlb / ps3 connection issues?
Mine's working.
All good here.
If the problem is that you're hearing an annoying noise, you might try switching to the Yankee's broadcast.
And then, if it keeps happening, switch to the Twins broadcast.
This could be a problem.
Cuddyer who?
Good timing, me.
that ball was not pulled pork, but a center cut
Willingham is going to hit 73.6 home runs!
He's just going to beat out Bonds.
.6 HR, is that what Jeter hit last night?
I like HRs.
Also, Boooooooooooooooooo!
Dazzle is not good at improvising. Whoda thunk it?
anyone remember Bobby Darwin?
He actually started his MLB career 9 years earlier - as a pitcher!
I remember Darwin. He hit some HRs, and then disappeared. Like Ortiz, but no one picked him up.
actually, he made it to his age-34 season.
also, he led the AL in Ks three straight years (all with the Twins). He did NOT lead the league in HRs or SLG, however.
Bobby Darwin, you say? Here you go.
Uh oh. Tommy John for Light Rail.
Another wonderful analysis by the Twins medical staff.
Baker went to the Mets doc for a 2nd opinion and didnt find it.
Well, it is the Mets.
Maybe we should just preemptively give all of our pitchers Tommy John, maybe on a rotating schedule.
They should just make it mandatory before kids start little league. Get it out of the way as early as possible.
I'm thinking about getting it for my son.
Scott Baker had Tommy John surgery today. wow
"Well, I don't know anything about medicine, but..."
Yeah...just stop right there, Dick.
I think this wouldn't have been necessary if Baker just would have kept the ball down.
It's the well-kept secret that would solve every problem for every pitcher. Why don't they listen to the announcers?!?!!?!
That's not a balk for Pettitte or Buehrle.
Ugh.
Oh f-bomb.
Do you guys remember that time when Francisco Liriano didn't suck?
ah yes, when gas was .99 a gallon and sliced bread was just invented
Can we start calling him BBiBBiaBBo?
Well that turned out better than I thought it would.
"Pavano a pitcher, Liriano still a thrower." -Bert
"I think the viewers have figured that out." -Dick
Pavano's a tosser, Liriano a thrower.
I'd argue Dick and Bert are tossers as well
/British'd
They've found their punching bag this season!
Mind=blown.
Wait, what's the opposite of mind?
Don't mind.
Does anyone else find those "deep thoughts" Twins commercials kinda lame? Kinda really lame?
It would have been kinda funny 15 years ago.
Yeah, I mean Jack Handy was funny, but he's not exactly relevant these days.
I'm a sucker for the Morneau/TC one, but otherwise they're pretty stupid. Especially all involving Bert.
The first one with Mauer was pretty great. Also, he looks pretty sharp in that cardigan.
I like Mauer's catcher mask tan lines, but everything else is pretty lame.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.
Well, I'm off to Trey's game. Hopefully, they'll get their first hit. They were shut out their first two games, but they won 9-4 in their last game after getting a bazillion walks.
SEND HIM!!!
Laddie can pwn Cheezeburger?
??????????
wow, Dspan is animated
now he is tossed. uggg
OMFG, what just happened???
Umpires.
Bobby Cox is looking back at Gardy, and he's getting close
Get your money's worth, Gardy.
Way to deal with some adversity, ump. You whining bitch.
Yep. God they're terrible.
Bobby Cox, here comes Gardy.
CLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For those of us not watching, a little summary of just went down would be nice.
Ump called an borderline/inside pitch a strike, then I have no idea.
Span took exception to the called strike (Span was right, at least according to PitchFX, but it was close). He said a few things, quietly, and the ump exploded and tossed him.
Gardenhire came out and engaged the ump and last about 15-20 seconds.
Span faked a bunt but pulled back on a pitch inside. Span asked why that was called a strike and then started to bark at the ump
Span got ejected in one of the lamest ejections since 'Sheed Wallace in the playoffs about 10 years ago.
I'll nominate Clemens getting tossed in the first or second inning of a playoff game for shaking his head at the ump.
I'm not out here arguing balls and strikes. I'm arguing you suck. --gardy.
Best. Quote. Ever.
Gardy was carping from the dugout about the balk call, and apparently Span was also having some words with the ump about calls and they both got tossed.
This umpire just wants camera time.
Rabbit ears!
It's amazing to me that soccer refs can get mobbed and no one so much as gets a caution for dissent, but a baseball player can say a few things rather calmly and get the heave ho. I suppose it's ultimately because when you toss a baseball player, the team doesn't have to play with 8 guys in the field, but still, it seems that both positions are a little extreme.
CLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the legend of Clete grows!
woo-hoo!
Take that, home plate umpire!
Well, he did allow Casilla to go to second with the balk...
Yeah, but he only did it to show up Span.
Trader Clete!
To are team!
Clete!
Any time I'm annoyed with him, I think of that quote and I love him all over again.
burned by the edit!
Heh.
Now it doesn't make any sense!
JC!
You can only hope to contain Jamey Carroll.
I didn't realize that the game had started. Seeing "Ron Gardenhire" trending on twitter caught my eye - glad it was only because he'd been ejected from the game.
These extra runs are just giving F-Bomb more runs to have to allow at the bottom of the inning
We're doin' it for our dead homies.
ohh. nice catch
Nice catch, he said grudgingly.
that's three excellent plays in the outfield for the yanks this series. boo. ooooo.
Yeah, since when do the Yankees play Twins baseball?
Not a lot of ground to cover in that bandbox, eh.
"Nice play," Tom Swift said with a catch in his throat.
Liriano's trying to set a MLB record with a WHIP of 3.000 for the season.
need a double play, but with stupid Gardner up it might not happen
Especially if every pitch in the strikezone is called a ball.
I'd like to see Liriano's ERA broken out by innings following a Twins lead.
So how could Liriano have pitched so well in Spring Training? Where did those few good innings come from?
No pressure?
I fucking hate the yankees.
Impeccable diction, sir. Impeccable.
Liriano has recorded only 34 outs in his 3 starts this year.
Hey, I'm here. I see I only missed 8 runs and 2 ejections.
Nice Knoblauch homer Jones.
that ball was hit high, but man its a short LF porch at Yankee stadium
GOSO.
Somebody just ran out on the field--I'm guessing Beau.
Lead = insurmountable
Hey, back after a long and exhausting conversation with the Milkmaid.
Ooh, another run! I'm glad I didn't miss all of it.
rally inning
maybe next inning
You were off by half.
So much for my prognosticating.
Too bad I don't have anymore Lakefront IPA.
nice defensive play by Valencia. dont see that too often
'Babe' Doumit has zero extra base hit so far this year
All our base belong to them.
and only 1 walk
99th pitch by the Cheesebro is a walk.
E-Rod.
E-Rod
That error cost 173,000 dollars. Check or cash.
Somebody blew A Rod there.
I thought this was a family game?
wow, the burn victim in NCIS had it better than the Twins in the 3rd
That's because they weren't relying on Liriano for anything.
Jeff Gray coming out to pitch?
THE MINNESOTA TWINS ARE GOING TO WIN THIS BALLGAME.
Gray is the new black.
Matt Maloney ate some innings tonight
Listening to Suzyn and Sterling. Did'na know but she's a former Broadway actress. Aldonza in Man of La Mancha.
The Duke: I invent false information about a country and sell it to others stupid enough to believe it.
Miguel de Cervantes: Seems a sound proposition. What brought you here?
The Duke: A lapse of judgment. I told the truth.
To surmount the unsurmountable lead, this is my quest
I had to read El Ingenioso Hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha in Spanish class my senior year. It was a bit of a chore, but it felt good to read a whole book in another language for the first time. Our second book that year was La Vida de Lazarillo de Tormes.
Damnit.
Player A - .267/.327/.435/.762/$491,250
Player B - .271/.333/.440/.773/$3,000,000
you shouldn't be sharing your tax info online
Ramos and Doumit.
which doesn't account for all the OPS that Capps has produced.
I have to recap this tomorrow, but I think it's well in hand. Screw this, I'm going to play The Witcher 2 instead.
I thought Gray was the color of victory??
I love the scene in the sub movies where the cap'n takes the vessel down past the point where engineering says the sub can take, the pipes start bleeding, and everyone is running amok.
She canna take anymore, Cap'n!!!!
rivets popping like gunfire -- THAT'S what the audience is waiting for
flipped over to the hockey game for a second and saw Marty Havlat being taken off the ice on a stretcher. Raffi Torres left his feet on a hit. I think a lengthy suspension is warrented
I don't think that could have been Havlat; he plays for the Sharks now.
youre right. Marian Hossa. For some reason I get the two player confused.
Yeah, I always conflated the two back when they both played for the Senators.
On the bright side, I just bought a bag of Doritos Flamas. Mmm, spicy and lime-y. Thumbs up.
also, Luke Hughes is not winning a Fielding Grammy, according to Dazz.
8-3lead, over a 100 pitches, and CC is still out there. Does that Yankees manager have no faith in his bullpen?
No.
Putting CC in just to pull him for the standing O is kind of dickish.
a standing O for giving up 3 runs
Hey, not everybody could have given up 3 runs to the Twins. Most would have given up fewer.
I would expect nothing less than dickish from the Yankees.
The yankees are dicks.
Dazz talking about Mariano and middle finger pressure....
With Carroll's power and the short porch in right, I was certain that was gone.
Selfish, pussy single.
Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Natch.
With Teixeira, Yankees lose.
Without Teixeira, Yankees winning 8-3.
Coincidence?
So, if Doumit is not great on defense, we have to take away his mit(t) and his "D." If he can't get on base, we have to take away his "O." What does that leave us with?
U
Andruw Jones - another Bane o' th' Twin.
He's willing to accept that, Dazz, because HE HAS NO OTHER CHOICE.

Blech.
We'll just have to settle for 154-8!
