ROCHESTER 6, GWINNETT 4 IN ROCHESTER
Batting stars: Chris Parmelee was 3-for-5 with a double. Matt Carson was 2-for-3 and scored twice. Tsuyoshi Nishioka hit a two run homer.
Pitching star: Cole De Vries allowed four runs on six hits while striking out six and walking none in eight innings.
Opposition star: Greg Paiml was 2-for-3.
Key inning: The fourth. Ahead 3-1, Carson led of the inning with a single and Nishioka hit a two out two run homer to give the Red Wings a 5-1 lead.
Other: DeVries pitched better than his final line would indicate. Through eight full innings, he had allowed one run on three hits. He apparently tired in the ninth, allowing two singles and a triple before being replaced.
NEW BRITAIN 3, READING 2 IN READING
Batting stars: Chris Herrmann and Aaron Hicks were each 2-for-4 with a double.
Pitching star: Andrew Albers worked six innings, giving up two runs on nine hits and a walk.
Opposition stars: Leonardo Castro was 2-for-4 with a home run. Cesar Hernandez was 2-for-4 with a double. Julio Rodriguez struck out seven in seven innings, allowing only an unearned run on four hits.
Key inning: The ninth. With the score tied at two, Hicks singled, stole second, and scored on a Mark Dolenc single.
BREVARD COUNTY 7, FORT MYERS 2 IN FORT MYERS
Batting stars: Andy Leer was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two walks. Josmil Pinto was 2-for-4. Daniel Ortiz hit his first home run.
Pitching stars: Jose Gonzalez struck out four in 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing only a hit batsman. Matthew Hauser worked two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.
Opposition stars: Shawn Zarraga was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Brandon Williamson struck out five in five innings, allowing only an unearned run on five hits.
Key inning: The third. Leading 2-0, the Manatees struck for four. A walk, a ground out, and a single plated the first run. After another single, Miguel Velazquez hit a two out, three run homer to give Brevard County a 6-0 lead.
Other: Madison Boer has really had a tough time since being promoted from Beloit. In four starts, he is now 0-4, 14.94 and has allowed 35 hits in 15.2 innings.
BURLINGTON 9, BELOIT 6 IN BURLINGTON
Batting stars: Kyle Knudson hit a two run homer.
Pitching stars: None.
Opposition stars: Shawn Jamieson was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring three times. Eliezer Mesa was 2-for-4 with a triple, driving in two. Max Perlman struck out five in 4.1 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit.
Key inning: The seventh. Trailing 6-4, the Bees tallied five times on only two hits. Four walks and an error aided the rally.
Other: All six Snappers runs came in the third inning.
