The "all-or-nothing" meter swings back to "nothing". Two bullpen meltdowns. Bad baseball abounds.
BINGHAMTON 8, NEW BRITAIN 1 IN NEW BRITAIN
Batting stars: Danny Lehmann doubled and Nathan Hanson singled. Those were the only two Rock Cats hits.
Pitching star: David Bromberg struck out eight in six innings, giving up a run on three hits and three walks.
Opposition stars: Raul Reyes was 3-for-5 with a three-run homer. Zack Wheeler allowed a run on two hits and two walks, striking out six in eight innings.
Key inning: The ninth. Leading 3-1, the Mets scored five times to put the game out of reach. With one out, Brett Jacobson walked Matt Den Dekker. An error followed, then Reyes hit his three-run homer. The next two batters walked, there was a ground out, then two more walks which forced in a run. Jacobson was replaced by Bobby Lanigan, who hit the first batter he faced, forcing in another run, before retiring the side.
Other: New Britain made two errors. My guess would be that the record of teams with as many or more errors than hits is not good.
CLEARWATER 4, FORT MYERS 3 IN FORT MYERS
Batting stars: Josmil Pinto was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Daniel Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a double. Daniel Rohlfing was 2-for-4.
Pitching stars: Pat Dean worked three innings, allowing two hits, before being removed following a rain delay. Jose Gonzalez gave up one run on two hits and a walk in five innings.
Opposition stars: Peter Lavin was 2-for-4. Drew Hillman hit a home run. Austin Wright pitched two shutout innings.
Key inning: The ninth. Leading 3-1, Ricky Bowen came in to close out the game for the Miracle. A walk, a wild pitch, two singles, and another wild pitch made the score 3-2 with runners on second and third and none out. A sacrifice fly tied the score and Cameron Rupp’s RBI single plated the go-ahead run. Fort Myers got a one out single by Lance Ray in the bottom of the ninth, but he did not move past first base.
Other: The Miracle out-hit the Threshers 12-7.
CEDAR RAPIDS 5, BELOIT 3 IN BELOIT
Batting stars: Adam Bryant was 2-for-4. Tyler Grimes was 0-for-1 but walked twice.
Pitching star: Ryan O’Rourke struck out two in two perfect innings.
Opposition stars: Gary Mitchell was 2-for-3 with two home runs, driving in three. Frazier Hall was 2-for-5. Jairo Diaz gave up two runs on five hits and three walks in six innings.
Key inning: The sixth. Leading 3-2, the Kernels started the inning with an error and Mitchell’s two run homer to go ahead 5-2.
Other: Prior to that sixth inning, the Snappers had two runners thrown out at home in the fifth.

My guess would be that the record of teams with as many or more errors than hits is not good.
A quick search estimates the record of those teams to be around .150.
That's surprisingly high.
I think so, too. Granted, it's only three times out of twenty, but I would've thought it would be less than that.
Now that I've crunched the numbers, you are right. It is quite a bit lower. If anyone wants to try to guess what the winning percentage of teams with the number of errors equal or greater than the number of hits, feel free. I'll post the results, broken down by decade, in tomorrow's CoC.
My wild guess is somewhere in the neighborhood of .040.
Hm, I think I may have done the search wrong. Play Index doesn't have any ability to search via errors, so I used ROE as a proxy. However, I think the search ended up being offensive ROE and offensive hits. I don't see any ability to search for errors for the team pitching (my usual proxy for defense), so I don't think we'll know for a while.
Also, errors can occur without the batter reaching (dropped foul ball) and multiple errors can occur on a single play. Not an easy search.
Right. I was hoping that ROE would cover most of the cases. I think it would work well enough and at least give a reasonable estimate. I should add that to the play index wish list.
