2012 Game 75: Kansas City Royals at Minnesota Twins

Mendoza

Next Wednesday, the Twins will have completed half of the season. One of the things I love about baseball is the sheer number of games. It's more fun when the number of losses stops climbing so quickly, but with so many games we can ignore all of the crappy games and have plenty of great ones to remember.

With so many games however, it soon becomes expected that there's a game tomorrow. We still have 87 games left, but the day that ends is in sight.

  1. We still have 87 games left, but the day that ends is in sight.

I will never understand people who think the baseball season is too long. I think it ends far too soon.

    1. I wonder what it was like when the PCL played 170 or more games a season. The Seals played 230 games in 1905!

  2. Anyone know the Twins' record when they score first? I'm sure all teams have a much better record when they score first, but it sure seems like the Twins have a more pronounced split than in years past. It seems like if the Twins fall behind early, then there's little to no hope of a comeback. Of course, it doesn't help when they have to try to catch up while the starting pitching is usually pretty bad.

    1. Not exactly what socal is looking for, but according to B-R's scoring summary, the Twins are 14-2 when they've had a lead at the end of the 1st, 9-24 when tied, and 7-19 when behind.

  3. Wish the Twins could petition to host the 2015 All-Star Game instead of presumably getting the 2014 one.

  4. Nice to see the new pitchers doing well. I love the way this team keeps fighting back. We'll just have to settle for 117-45!

  5. Fans will complain about no offense against Mendoza, but it's pretty obvious that you need to credit the starting pitcher when the offense suddenly awakes as soon as the pitcher is taken out.
