Hicks is now at .276/.375/.443/.818 for the season in AA, compared to a league average of .260/.331/.391/.722. It seems he might turn out okay.
Pardon my laziness for not looking this up, but is he old for AA?
He's 22.83 years (thanks WA!) and the league average batter is 24.5. If we assume he's going to be in AAA next year, then he'll be 23 compared to a this-year IL league average batter of 27.4.
Im trying to remember, did Hick have a hot start, then a horrible May?
MiLB.com has the month by month splits. Looks like good April, terrible May, good June, great July.
90 strikeouts in 348 at bats is a bit concerning
"disconcerting." You've been reading too much Gleeman.
Things Glee. Whatevah.
That's 90 strikeouts in 415 PAs, or 21.7%. Last year he had 110 strikeouts in 528 PAs for 20.8%. In 2010, he was 112/518 for 21.6%. If anything, he's matching his career average.
I seem to be getting that a lot 🙁
Ha! 😛
His R/L split was always bad, IIRC, so it's good to see his OBP is the same from both sides and his OPS is over .800 from both, though he's still better against lefties.
I remember reading that too. For the record, milb.com says:
vs left: .288/.370/.471/.841
vs right: .270/.378/.427/.805
Very encouraging. Needs more plate appearances, but it's starting to look like he was a slow developer (heh, he's only 22!). I'm guessing he will be in AAA next year, making it really easy for the Twins to trade one of Span or Revere. As long as the Twins aren't counting on him to be a decent MLB player until 2014, that should be okay.
Nice to see Dinkelman doing nicely. Hopefully he's a September call-up.
Way not to be too obvious about it.
And isn't the plural "Dinklemen"?
