2012 Game 106: Minnesota Twins at Boston Red Sox

Duensing
v
Doubront

From mlb.com:

Duensing had less than 24 hours notice of his last start vs. Cleveland on July 29 because of the Francisco Liriano trade a day earlier. But he responded with his best start of the year, holding the Indians to one run on five hits over a six innings.

Maybe he should be the surprise starter instead of a spot starter.

  1. Twins with the dark blues, Sox with the red tops...is this a spring training game?

  2. I wonder if that was a called double steal, or if Revere took off on his own and Mauer saw him and followed.

  3. I guess the Red Sox have been paying attention and realized that the Twins have been attempting 235235 double steals lately.

  4. If Revere had still been on second with one out, he might have been able to score on that.

  5. Twin on the big screen tonite! Have to mute tho, to hear friendly chatter on the CCOTreasure Island Radio Network.

    1. But that's not working. Recent upgrade of Safari has all my Interwebs in a Rastafarian haze.

    1. Just to be safe, we should also score second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth.

  6. The game got interrupted by a storm warning (not for Gettysburg). Did Dazzle's story that ended "Hey, Tom, where's the mustard?" actually have a point that made sense?

  7. NBC is so bored with its own coverage that its airing a special about he 1996 womens gymnastic team.

    1. That's so last century - women wearing bloomers, corsets, petticoats, pinstripers, etc.

    1. I mean, you see 3 players and an umpire running after the ball and you decide to pick it up and wave to the crowd....what a buffoon

      1. Yeah, I don't get it. It always happens though. They must get three free beers to start the game.

        1. No, they just suck. Twins batting .219 with a .513 OPS with the bases loaded. Twins have 111 PAs with the bases loaded (before tonight) and only 66 runs.

  8. Duensing's reaction to Mauer's bad throw was amusing. Joe just kind of shrugged and looked at his nails.

    1. I don't think any starters other than Diamond have anything to complain about. Maybe Duensing doesn't have to buy as many lunches as before.

  9. McDonalds is telling folks to 'stay frydrated' this summer. Because that is good for ones health.

  10. Bert suggesting that Duensing should come out after only 77 pitches because a lot of those pitches were 'under duress'. Where did he pick up this line of thinking? In the past, he has poo-pooed pitch counts

  11. Howdy all. Nice comeback by the Twins. This would be a real good road win if they can get the lead. Of course, with no Perkins tonight, it will be dicey getting to Burton.

    1. 2 in one inning. it has not been pretty. But Duensing has done some great damage control.

    2. Justin put a dent in that scoreboard and tore a hole in his pants. The Mountie is doing some damage tonight.

      1. That wasn't supposed to nest here, but I got all flustered by the two bag wallbanger.

  12. I have a feeling if the game is tied when Morneau is up again, he is going to hit a ball very very far for a home run

  13. Wait. Did Bremer just say he knew Kelly Shoppach would end up on the Redsox because facially he looks like Jason Veritek? I don't listen much to dicknbert, thanks for the reminnder why.

  14. Revere was 15 PAs short of qualifying for the AL BA leaderboard going into this game. Will be glad to see him get there in a week or so.

    1. Gray does have the lower ERA. (But nearly the same number of Ks. Have I said yet how I have hope for Robertson because of those Ks?)

    1. Actually, with Gray's luck this season, it could end two ways. I think Gardy was just trying to make sure either way that it ended.

      1. He got the win, didn't he?
He's second on the team with wins (6). Diamond leads the club with 9.
In his 5 starts, Duderino has as many as Liriano and Hendriks do all season in their 30 combined games.

  15. Ouch. I thought that hit the knob of the bat from how loud the sound was. Mounties are tough.

        1. I was going for something about gray matter, but there was none involved in that decision.
