I predict a blowout victory in favor of the home team
Led by Nishioka of course.
His pinch hit grand slam will truly be a thing to behold.
And here we go again.
Are you effing kidding me?
I'm ready to be done with the first innings in this series.
Scott Blackburn π
the Twins have been hosed at first base too many times this series.
UGH...I've been waiting for this game all morning and yet forgot it was my day. What is with my aversion to remembering small changes?!?!?!
Should I send email reminders?
I've never needed them in the past so I hesitate to ask for them. Part of it is that I've worked almost every Sunday this season (though that appears to be changing) and part of it, particularly recently, is that I've had bigger problems to work through that have nothing to do with either of my sites. Nothing worth mentioning to more than a select few, but...there's just some stuff about myself I've decided to work on.
Are there people who don't eat the skin of baked potatoes?
People who hate delicious things.
On the slightly stranger side I also eat peanut shells.
There are places I will go, but I can't follow you there.
If you get some nice fresh roasted nuts, nothing beats it.
Most people in my family not named Kelly.
I ain't a never done it once.
Homegrown potatoes- sure, I'll eat them. Restaurant or store-bought potatoes- maybe, maybe not. Depends on how hungry I am.
speaking of Hunter, I was looking up his stats last night and didnt realize that he is so close to 2000 hits. 1921 in 7682 plate appearances
But how close is he to passing him in leadership?
How did I do that?
Magic.
twitter's embed includes a <script> section that editors can include. That will then transform the tweets into something pretty.
If I just copy and paste a twitter link it is all like tah-dah?
heh.
Oops. Yes.
(actually, no)
True. You need to use the embed part twitter gives you.
I may find Casilla's bat to be absolute boo, but I love how sweetly he turns a double play.
I think Roberts and Rodriguez made the universal gesture of lesbian love after their doubles. I assume that's what that means, anyway.
its an odd hand signal, thats for sure.
Diamond living on the edge.
what'd I miss?
Not a stolen base by Revere. Yet.
good. didn't want to miss that
Diamond giving up HRs, Morneau jacking a long blast. thats about it
oops
Im pretty sure Span was safe at first
Agreed.
crap, Span is hurt
Oh, dear.
**breathes**
Maybe not.
Wouldn't you think that Bert would know the difference between grass and turf?
he smokes turf all the time!
I thought Span might have rolled up on his wrist or something. But, Im glad he is ok.
Two bags of ham.
Consuela!
Doumit switching his walkup music from Danzig's 'Mother' to Nirvana's 'Come As You Are'
Reporting from the sidelines, the Summit Abbey Ale really is delicious.
Howdy, all. Looks like just another Diamond quality start. Now we just need a clutch hit or two.
It didn't look like quality early on, but he's only thrown a handful of bad pitches, at most.
Radke-esque.
Bingo.
I think we're going to regret that run not scoring.
I know I do.
I regret every run not scoring
Uh oh. Span not back on the field.
Heck of a play by Revere there to keep him to a single.
That rundown did not sound like it was executed very well.
It really wasn't, but Casilla seemed to know what was up when he got the ball.
yeah, Dozier threw the ball back to Morneau too quick.
I don't know what Revere is doing to strengthen his right arm, and I don't want to know. But he should keep doing it.
If I remember right, I think he was playing long toss with footballs.
Arm strength is overrated. It's much more important to prevent hits than to prevent extra bases. Yeah, a strong arm can occasionally get an out, but a lot of weak-armed OF rack up assists because they are accurate and opponents will challenge the weaker arm more often. I'm actually surprised how rarely it seems that Revere's arm strength has hurt the Twins. More often than not he gets to the ball so quickly they still can't take an extra base.
Roberts' speed << Upton's speed.
There were about five too many throws in that rundown.
Would have loved to hear TK analyze that. Especially the way Provus described Casilla as the stabilizing influence.
I would agree with Provus there. Once Casilla got the ball, he ran the runner back toward first, faked a toss, and quickly tagged him out.
scoreboards showed a "163634", which I wrote down and then thought, "how was the first throw to SS?", soon corrected to "1363634".
I really don't like that Ryan Roberts is a Ray now. Even though I like the Rays, he was reaaaaaaally popular here in Arizona.
Another inning, another leadoff double.
Did we really just bunt so that Mastroianni could try to drive in the go-ahead run?
I didn't, but Carroll just did. Not every sac bunt is called by the manager, but that one most likely was.
And of course the defensive replacement is up with the go-ahead run at third and one out.
Pointless trivia I just learned (I figure wattsy is interested in things like this, if no one else): only four pitchers have given up two game-winning grand slams in the same season. You've heard of at least three of them.
So He Who Must Not Be Named isn't in the list because gave up more than two?
Did he do that in one season, though?
He did that EVERY GAME
My memory might be a little off
dindt get any right.
I'm guessing one of them at least was the Twins vs. the Yankees at Yankees Stadium.
Crud. Hit it too good. Needed to hit it softer for a hit or get under it and let it get deeper for a sac fly.
I think he would have been out, but I feel like you have to send Dozier there.
They might regret that one, too.
*more regret*
Provus did not take into account the possibility that the Twins and Rays will meet in the playoffs. He must not think the Rays are going to make it.
Clearly they're not on track for almost 100 wins like we are.
Can-o-corn.
I totally spookied that pussy walk.
*misreads gameday; thought it said "spitter"*
Mauer = The Flash. Swiping bases like a fool.
YCTOJM.
Joe "Wheels" Mauer!
Wieters with Speed
Provus kind of Gordo'd that one.
We've really gotta stop hitting screaming liners right at the left fielder.
Twins with what seems like 73 men left on base this game.
*unbearable regret*
A lot of unclutchiness today.
SO MUCH REGRET!
I think Perkins needs to reconsider that beard.
Come on Perk, one more out.
Sometimes I wish you only had to get two outs in an inning rather than three.
HBP shouldn't count if it hits the ground first.
its time to don your rally hats
This would be a good time for a pinch-hit walkoff by Nishioka.
Carroll is no Joe Mauer, but I'd send him.
Carroll is no Jim Thome, but I doubt I'd send him in any situation, ever.
With the way the Twins are knocking in runs right now, I'd send Matt LeCroy himself.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
The comedic value would be worth the dead-certain out.
The shock would cause the catcher to airmail it to CF. So they'd just barely get him out.
Could this be the time for Revere's first MLB HR?
free baseball
That inning needed less Farnsworth and more Wernstrom.
I'm still grinning at this.
I can't believe I just now got the whole Prof_Farnsworth thing.
I wish the Twins had a good relief pitcher who could pitch more than one inning.
Can we take a mulligan on this inning and put Perkins back in?
Those watching: Was there a play at the plate for Dozier, or did he make the right decision?
He got eaten up by the ball a little. If he fields that cleanly, it was probably a DP.
He took the play that he was least likely to screw up. It would've been really close at any base but first.
Doziered. π
I wish the Twins had relievers that can get a strikeout.
The impulse walk. Nice job Robertson.
Let's get all the pitchers into the game!
Only three left!
Don't forget Butters!
Maybe Rodney will be worn out from warming up so long.
Maybe he'll injure himself celebrating strike 1.
ugh. thats a backbreaker.
This is becoming anticlimactic.
I blame Casilla.
Come on, he is a stabilizing influence.
I dislike this comment.
I don't often have the "pleasure" of saying it, but there's little I dislike more than investing in a nip-and-tuck game of baseball only to see it become a laugher in extras.
About a decade ago, the Twins lost 5-0, with all five Indians runs coming in the 15th inning. I've only been angrier - at anything or anyone - a handful of times in my life.
I remember that game.
I agree, but I dislike it a lot less when it's the Twins breaking the game open.
Yeah, I can live with that.
This tenth inning is going less well than I'd hoped. Obviously, we haven't used enough relief pitchers.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that my cue to head to the grocery store.
Man, this GreekHouse free comeback is going to be awesome.
Nevermind.
Blow this one up.
that game sucked π
So long, Rays. You really know how to ruin a good vibe.
Although, is there any chance a 6.5 year old can have a heart attack? Maybe it's best I didn't.
Heh, that prompted me to go to Nishi's page and hit "translate" on the posts that people would leave on his wall. That was a fun way to spend a half an hour while getting ready for work this morning.
What're the comments? Anything positive?
Most of them are from Japan (or Japanese folk), and most of them are positive. One guy was talking about driving quite a distance to Rochester to see Nishi play.
Denard Span listed as day-to-day. You know what that means.
Could've gone either way. That's baseball. Time to turn the page. We'll just have to settle for 97-65!
If the Twins win out, they'll tie the 1969 Twins for third best record in franchise history!
I predict a blowout victory in favor of the home team
Led by Nishioka of course.

Le sigh.
Wonderful.
On the bright side they have all been solo shots.
Oh Canada!!!!!!!
Mounted!
MOUNT UP!
holy crap, diamond...
boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Jeebus!
MauerBall.
Good double, good (if unnecessary) bunt, good hit.
Yup, Mauer is still pretty good.

[oops. this was supposed to go into today's cuppa]
I make my s'mores with girlscout thin mints instead of the crackers.
You are brilliant. Dear god that sounds good.
