  1. UGH...I've been waiting for this game all morning and yet forgot it was my day. What is with my aversion to remembering small changes?!?!?!

      1. I've never needed them in the past so I hesitate to ask for them. Part of it is that I've worked almost every Sunday this season (though that appears to be changing) and part of it, particularly recently, is that I've had bigger problems to work through that have nothing to do with either of my sites. Nothing worth mentioning to more than a select few, but...there's just some stuff about myself I've decided to work on.

    1. Homegrown potatoes- sure, I'll eat them. Restaurant or store-bought potatoes- maybe, maybe not. Depends on how hungry I am.

  2. boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

    1. speaking of Hunter, I was looking up his stats last night and didnt realize that he is so close to 2000 hits. 1921 in 7682 plate appearances

      1. Magic.

twitter's embed includes a <script> section that editors can include. That will then transform the tweets into something pretty.

  3. I think Roberts and Rodriguez made the universal gesture of lesbian love after their doubles. I assume that's what that means, anyway.

  4. Wouldn't you think that Bert would know the difference between grass and turf?

  5. I thought Span might have rolled up on his wrist or something. But, Im glad he is ok.

  6. Doumit switching his walkup music from Danzig's 'Mother' to Nirvana's 'Come As You Are'

  7. Howdy, all. Looks like just another Diamond quality start. Now we just need a clutch hit or two.

  8. I don't know what Revere is doing to strengthen his right arm, and I don't want to know. But he should keep doing it.

    1. Arm strength is overrated. It's much more important to prevent hits than to prevent extra bases. Yeah, a strong arm can occasionally get an out, but a lot of weak-armed OF rack up assists because they are accurate and opponents will challenge the weaker arm more often. I'm actually surprised how rarely it seems that Revere's arm strength has hurt the Twins. More often than not he gets to the ball so quickly they still can't take an extra base.

    1. Would have loved to hear TK analyze that. Especially the way Provus described Casilla as the stabilizing influence.

      1. I would agree with Provus there. Once Casilla got the ball, he ran the runner back toward first, faked a toss, and quickly tagged him out.

    2. scoreboards showed a "163634", which I wrote down and then thought, "how was the first throw to SS?", soon corrected to "1363634".

    1. I didn't, but Carroll just did. Not every sac bunt is called by the manager, but that one most likely was.

  9. And of course the defensive replacement is up with the go-ahead run at third and one out.

  10. Pointless trivia I just learned (I figure wattsy is interested in things like this, if no one else): only four pitchers have given up two game-winning grand slams in the same season. You've heard of at least three of them.

  11. Crud. Hit it too good. Needed to hit it softer for a hit or get under it and let it get deeper for a sac fly.

  12. Provus did not take into account the possibility that the Twins and Rays will meet in the playoffs. He must not think the Rays are going to make it.

          1. The shock would cause the catcher to airmail it to CF. So they'd just barely get him out.

  13. Those watching: Was there a play at the plate for Dozier, or did he make the right decision?

    1. He got eaten up by the ball a little. If he fields that cleanly, it was probably a DP.

    2. He took the play that he was least likely to screw up. It would've been really close at any base but first.

    1. I don't often have the "pleasure" of saying it, but there's little I dislike more than investing in a nip-and-tuck game of baseball only to see it become a laugher in extras.

About a decade ago, the Twins lost 5-0, with all five Indians runs coming in the 15th inning. I've only been angrier - at anything or anyone - a handful of times in my life.

  14. This tenth inning is going less well than I'd hoped. Obviously, we haven't used enough relief pitchers.

      1. Although, is there any chance a 6.5 year old can have a heart attack? Maybe it's best I didn't.

      2. Heh, that prompted me to go to Nishi's page and hit "translate" on the posts that people would leave on his wall. That was a fun way to spend a half an hour while getting ready for work this morning.

          1. Most of them are from Japan (or Japanese folk), and most of them are positive. One guy was talking about driving quite a distance to Rochester to see Nishi play.

  15. Could've gone either way. That's baseball. Time to turn the page. We'll just have to settle for 97-65!
