INDIANAPOLIS 4, ROCHESTER 3 IN ROCHESTER
Batting stars: Tsuyoshi Niskioka was 4-for-5. Eduardo Escobar was 3-for-4 with a double. Chris Parmelee was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his sixteenth.
Pitching stars: Caleb Theilbar and Kyle Waldrop each worked a scoreless inning. Thielbar gave up a hit and a walk and Waldrop allowed a walk.
Opposition stars: Brock Holt was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, driving in three. Dallas McPherson was 2-for-4. Evan Meek struck out four in two shutout innings.
Key inning: The fifth. The Red Wings trailed 4-3. A single and two walks (including an intentional walk to Parmelee) loaded the bases with one out. Clete Thomas hit into a forceout at home and Evan Bigley popped up. Rochester did not get a runner to third base again.
Other: The Red Wings out-hit the Indians 11-8. Indianapolis scored all four of its runs in the second inning.
NEW BRITAIN AT PORTLAND
The game was suspended after three and a half innings. There was no score, and the Rock Cats had not gotten a hit yet. The game will be completed Saturday before the regularly scheduled game.
FORT MYERS 9, PALM BEACH 4 AT PALM BEACH
Batting stars: Josmil Pinto was 4-for-5 with two doubles and a home run, his twelfth. Jonathan Goncalves was 2-for-3 with two doubles, driving in three. Daniel Ortiz was 1-for-3 with two walks.
Pitching star: Tom Stuifbergen gave up three runs on nine hits and a walk in seven innings.
Opposition stars: Cody Stanley was 3-for-5 with a home run. Ronny Gil was 3-for-4 with a double. Danny Miranda struck out three in three shutout innings.
Key inning: The eighth. The Miracle had taken a 4-0 lead in the second, but the Cardinals had closed to 4-3. Fort Myers opened the inning with two singles, two walks, and an error, making the score 6-3 and leaving the bases loaded with none out. With one out, a hit batsman forced in a run and another error allowed two more runs to score, giving the Miracle a 9-3 advantage.
Other: The Cardinals out-hit the Miracle 11-10, but out-errored them 4-0.
WISCONSIN 5, BELOIT 2 IN BELOIT
Batting stars: Matthew Koch was 2-for-4 with a double. Nate Roberts was 2-for-4 with a walk. Miguel Sano was 1-for-3 with a home run, his twenty-fifth.
Pitching star: Taylor Rogers allowed one run on four hits in three innings while striking out three.
Opposition stars: Gregory Hopkins was 2-for-5 with two doubles. Michael Garza was 2-for-5 with a double. Chad Pierce pitched five shutout innings, giving up four hits and three walks.
Key inning: The fourth. The Timber Rattlers scored one in the first, but it had stayed 1-0. A walk and doubles by Hopkins and Garza plated two runs to make the score 3-0, which was all the runs Wisconsin would need.
Other: The Snappers stranded nine runners and were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
ELIZABETHTON 5, KINGSPORT 1 IN ELIZABETHTON
Batting stars: Rory Rhodes was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, his fifth. Adam Walker was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his fourteenth.
Pitching stars: Jose Berrios struck out eleven in five shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks. Travis Huber struck out three in two perfect innings.
Opposition star: Maikis De La Cruz was 2-for-4.
Key inning: The second. It was a scoreless tie. Following an error, Rhodes doubled in a run, took third on a ground out, and scored on a sacrifice fly to give the Twins a 2-0 lead.
Other: Kingsport out-hit Elizabethton 6-5.
GCL RED SOX 5, TWINS 1 AT RED SOX
Batting star: Aderlin Mejia was 3-for-5.
Pitching star: Randy Rosario worked five shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks.
Opposition star: Jonathan Aro pitched five innings of relief, allowing one run on four hits and no walks.
Key inning: The seventh. The Twins led 1-0 when the Red Sox broke through for five runs. Two walks and a single scored the first run; a wild pitch scored the second. A walk and a sacrifice fly plated the third run. Mike Meyers then produced and RBI double and Jose Colorado delivered an RBI single to make it 5-1.
DSL TWINS 8, ROCKIES 2 AT TWINS
Batting stars: Carlos Martinez was 2-for-4 with two doubles. Eddy Concepcion and Junior Boni were each 2-for-4 with a walk.
Pitching star: Junior Subero worked five shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks. Edgar Martinez struck out three in two shutout innings, allowing one hit.
Opposition star: Wilson Soriano was 2-for-4.
Key inning: The sixth. The Twins led 3-0 when the Rockies scored two in the top of the inning on three singles and an infield out. The Twins came back to score four in the bottom of the inning. A single, a hit batsman, and a walk loaded the bases with one out. This was followed by four consecutive bases-loaded walks to give the Twins a 7-2 lead.
Nishi will be called up as soon as rosters expand, right? After all, The Red Wings could make the playoffs.
