  1. I bet Gardy will string a long line of profanities after hearing this news

More bad news for @RocRedWings: Brian Dozier leaves game after slipping while fielding grounder. Poss leg injury.

  2. I am having a tough time pulling myself away from Joe Dirt to watch this game.

    1. I was basically at the park three hours ago and still opted to not attend in person. (I was next door watching the Sounders beat the Whitecaps 2-0.)

        1. It was very fun. The Whitecaps supporters weren't as fun as they were last year, but a victory in front of 50K+ is always a good time. Eddie Johnson's moving up the goal-scoring chart, but Wondo got a goal on a BS PK today to increase his total.

            1. He seems a lot better than he used to be, but I wouldn't put him on a USMNT 'A' squad. If I've learned anything about him this year, it's that if the wings give him good service, he can out-jump defenders and put the ball in the back of the net.

  3. Lineup doesn't really matter, but putting Carroll in the leadoff spot violates the rule of putting your best five hitters in the first five spots in the order. Seems a bit strange. And then, of course, Carroll leads off the game with a single.

      1. Roughly 26 months. We figured that was about right for separation. Bathroom training is going to get serious in this house over the next couple of months.

        1. I've discovered that 22.5 months feels too short (third and fourth).
29 months was definitely long enough (first and second), although we didn't do CER's potty training until after HPR was born.

          1. That's good, because if my wife were to get pregnant right now, it'd be about 21 months. Now that one of my major concerns of having a second is gone, we might start thinking more about it. Good to hear we might not have waited too long.

          2. Firstly, congrats to FTLT.

I am the oldest, 50 months older than my closest sibling.
From there, we waited another 92 months for the third brother.

In both cases potty-training happened before the appearance of the new kid.

          3. I and my only sibling, my sister are also 29 months apart.
AMR Bday - SNF* Bday = CER Bday - HPR Bday + 1 day.

    1. More calves are always a good thing. Congratuations man. We just had kernel's 1st birthday party today and have been talking about timing for #2.

    1. I know I went to high school with a Matt Carson, for sure. He would be kind of old for a rookie though.

  4. Ben Revere (sore ankle) will be available off the bench tonight and could return to the lineup Sunday. Denard Span (sore clavicle) is a possibility to play Sunday but he's behind Revere progress-wise.

Span last played the 12th, making tomorrow seven days. Maybe he'll get to ten days before playing once and then going on the DL.

      1. I got a nasty bone bruise landing on my arm/wrist when wiping out on a dew-slicked home plate many years ago, and it took many weeks before I could shake hands with someone without wincing.

      2. How do you even have a sore bone?
Asks the guy who just announced the conception of his second.

      1. They showed a clip of him hanging out in front of the Twins dugout with his kids. Apparently Doumit gave him one of his catcher helmets.

        1. Apparently Eddie Vedder brings in bad mojo. Why because this sh*thead is one big f*cking liar. If you see him with children, those weren't his kids, they're his nieces. And if you saw a big/overweight bald man with them, that's the real dad Tim Bierman, the pearl jam fanclub manager. And the c*nt who he's supposed to be f*cking is actually Vedder's cousin and Bierman's b*tch. That's the reason why the Twins lost the game Eddie Vedder dickhead, bad vibes, you bring bad luck.

          1. Well, that's a bit from left field, but welcome Mr. Colony.
Let's hope that it's Chris Cornell tomorrow then, eh?

I feel this comment made this video appropriate:

      2. I guess it is okay to root for one major league and one minor league team?

          1. Angels and Royals*. Guessing would have had a few more chances in his 302 games with the Angels.

            * And five games to end his career in Boston.

            1. He had 30 in total against the Mariners. Four of the extra six were in '91 with the Angels.

      1. Not to contradict you, but I think what the WASTE is saying is that his eyes are too high.

    1. I would really like to work up to longer rides (I know DPWY said he liked his Duluth ride). Problem is Dad's bike is too small a frame and I get really cramped up after more than 4 or 5 miles. Dad's a good 4 inches shorter than me, so his handlebars are way to close to my body.

      1. I think I mentioned this before, but we're right by Elm Creek Park with a 17 mile trail circuit. I want to do that in an hour by the end of summer.

      2. Yeah, getting the bike to match your body is important. A couple of millimeters in the tuning can make a big difference.

        1. It's a really nice road bike too, and I like riding it. I take it all over town for errands, but I just can't do any appreciable distance on it. My elbows are crammed into my ribs and I really have to crane my neck backwards to see.

              1. Its the Zipps that make you swallow. Tri-dude (came in 3rd) told me that the 404's took off a minute a mile on his triathlon time. Wow.

                1. The improvements that can be gotten with more expensive bike technology seems like the worst part of bike racing. I feel much the same way about softball bats, too. At least with the softball bats, it seems like the logical solution is just to have the league provide bats.

        1. The Pokemon catcher guy looks to be Florentino Perez, the president of RM. He's got the Real Madrid logo on his hat and the ball. The flaming lizard is Cristiano Ronaldo. The turtle is Kaká. I'm not quite sure who Pikacho or the thing in the lower left is.

PS - I got why we were using it, just wondered about the content.

          1. I just found it on the interwebs and thought it was a great graphic. Figured it had something to do with Pokemon and/or soccer, but didn't have a clue.

    1. Furbush? What's wrong with Furbush, Furbush is a perfectly good name. Heh-heh-heh-heh, he said Furbush.

        1. One joy of last weekend's Twins game, was that the baseball CD I put together included "Who's on first?"
Watched a 6yo and 9yo in the back seat in the rear view mirror listening to the bit for the very first time.
I had to play it again immediately and then again when we got home for their mom.

  5. I think it's hilarious that Florimon can completely fake that he's getting a throw from the catcher on that steal attempt and it's considered smart baseball, but if you invented something like that in soccer, you're a dirty, no-good cheater.

  6. The Maestro is a legit defensive CF. Seeing him play shallow reminds me of Gomez playing shallow, though with less speed and less crazy.

  7. Florimon can bunt! I know it's not a tactic that we like to see a lot of, but as long as teams keep asking players to bunt, I like to see them do it successfully. That might be a better sac bunt than I've seen Punto put down.

  8. West coast games really shouldn't count. I mean, they end after I go to bed, so how do I know they even really happened? Anyway, it sounds like the bad guys won. Oh, well. I guess we'll just have to settle fro 93-69!

  9. This was an all-star caliber game thread, kids. Good to see that we're not tanking to get into the lottery. Well played.
