2012 Game 144: Twins v. Royals

Confession:
Last year I watched over 100 Twins games. This year? Maybe 10. I still check the box scores every night. Am I a fair weather fan? Maybe. I guess I don't care. But I'm not going to sink a bunch of time into something that isn't bringing me a heck of a lot of joy.

Go Twins.

  1. There's a lot more to watch this year than last, it seems to me. The breakouts of Diamond, Plouffe and Revere. Perkins and Burton in the 'pen. The Hammer. The return to awesomeness of Mauer and the return to health of Morneau and Span. And the emergence of Cole De Vries, who unfortunately is out for the rest of the season with a cracked rib. That really sucks for an undrafted player earning a shot.

    1. That came out a bit more dramatic than I intended it. Still, more to watch or not, two straight years of losing has taken a toll on me.

  2. The 2 runs scored just as I was opening Gameday, then the radio fellas were immediately talking about Doumit having a hurting oblique. Now news of Devries being hurt when I open the gamelog. I might be finding something else to do soon if my luck don't change here.

    1. The trainer was reportedly talking to Butera after the half inning. Gardy's nightmare of having only three catchers may come true!

      1. And I hear Eduardo Escobar is the backup to the backup catcher's backup (did I get that right?). I thought Willingham was supposed to be the emergency catcher? I was kinda looking forward to that.

        1. I believe the Twins have roster spots (Free Slama!). So they'll only be short on catching for one day.
Actually, do you have to be on the roster before the game? It could be Dammann time!

  3. Didn't realize that the Twins outfield today consists of Mastroianni, Span, and Revere. Flyball-heavy pitcher on the mound and three best outfielders playing, this should go well (ignoring the first inning).

  4. Did they say that Liriano is scheduled for tomorrow night's game? (Might get Sale instead as Tonight's hyped Verlander-Sale tilt was postponed.)
I thought Liriano was just sent to the bullpen.

    1. he was, the but the guy who was scheudled to start tomorrow was used in the pen yesterday, so Liriano got the nod today. but with tonight's rainout, who knows who the Sox will start

  5. Sidenote- I see the Packers are pissing off Aaron Rodgers fantasy owners everywhere by scoring a touchdown on a fake punt/pass to a third-string tight end.

  6. since when is Francoeur a backup catcher? that's what (??) just said -- one of three catchers for the Royales.

  7. Not much to say about this one. The Twins were in control all the way. We're still on track for 78-84.
