This cold is kicking my butt. I'm going to work because the office is nearly empty and hanging at home would be worse. Share your lists.

Ha Ha Tonka just announced their Thanksgiving shows. Friday in StL!
Saturday in Chicago! Both with Lydia Loveless Opening! I don't think I can make either!
Wow a HHT/LL double bill? If that show ever hits the Twin Towns, the merch table will do record business from AMR alone.
I've already got it all... Had to buy vinyl from LL last time just so I could take something home.
1. Dan Dare -- The Wedding Present
2. Firehouse (live) -- Kiss
3. Moscow Nights -- The Feelies
4. We Can Work It Out -- Heather Nova
5. It Ain't Free -- The Soundtrack of our Lives
6. Month of May -- Arcade Fire
7. Cumberland County (live) -- Fred Eaglesmith
8. I Will Survive -- Cake
9. Let it Beard -- Boston Spaceships
10. I'm One -- The Who
Bonus: Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts -- Bob Dylan
Concert notes: Jesus and Mary Chain Tuesday at First Ave, Built to Spill Wednesday at First Ave. Dinosaur Jr. Oct 18 at the Cabooze. I am definitely going to Built to Spill and Dinosaur Jr. Also AMR, it's been about 6 weeks, isn't Lydia Loveless due back in town?
I really, really want to go to that Dinosaur Jr show. It is my wife's 40th birthday. If anyone can figure out a way for me to be in two places at once, let me know.
Hey, your wife was born exactly five yours before me.
Dude! Surprise B-day party at The Cabooze. Kill two birds with one stone.
I tried to see if I could get her to like DJ. I played them for her on a road trip. She couldn't make it through a full album.
How about these Djr. lyrics in her b-day card:
Sometimes I don't thrill you
Sometimes I think I'll kill you
Just don't let me fuck up will you
'cause when I need a friend it's still you
Just send a subliminal message like J sent to Lou when he made Lou scream "WHY DON'T YOU LIKE ME???" repeatedly.
Try and play up J's sex appeal...
Note to self: never take marriage advice from E or Free.
Lydia's hitting Fargo and Lincoln NE and Ames in mid-October.
My sister-in-law's boyfriend's band, Chatham Rise, gets to open for the JAMC. That's a big freaking deal, if you ask me.
I'm pretty excited for that Lydia Loveless show.
This is the craziest week for shows for me since, uh, I was in college the first time I suppose! The Melvins in Fargo on Tuesday night, then I'll be down for GZA/Killer Mike at First Ave on Thursday and Swans/Xiu Xiu at Fine Line Friday. If anyone is going to either show, or wants to grab a beer or a burger or something Friday evening before the Swans show, let me know.
2. Firehouse (live) -- Kiss
O.k. No one is in the office so this song from my list made me crank some Kiss Alive! at my desk. Of course who strolls by but the boss. I gave her a shrug and said, "At least I'm still at my desk."
This time it is from my iPod which I remembered to bring to work today.
1. Indigo Girls - She's Saving Me
2. Frankie Valli - Grease
3. Maroon 5 - Shiver

Really doesn't look much different than my Pandora station.
Really doesn't look much different than my Pandora station.
Less hip-hop.
Does anyone with an iPod have issues with the stupid thing randomly losing its place in a shuffled playlist? I got through about 650 songs last time before it reset, which is my max. Sick of this.
01. Overkill - "New Machine", Horrorscope
02. Force of Evil - "Hobbs End", Black Empire
03. Decapitated - "Dance Macabre", Winds of Creation
04. Nevermore - "Never Purify", Enemies of Reality
05. Metallica - "One", ...And Justice for All
06. Amon Amarth - "Bloodshed", Versus the World
07. Pantera - "I'm Broken", Far Beyond Driven
08. Epica - "Sensorium", The Phantom Agony
09. Nevermore - "42147", The Politics of Ecstasy
10. Light This City - "Guiding the North Star", Remains of the Gods
I never last that long before going off on a tangent.
Perhaps song #7 holds a clue.
Let's all hope a Pantera song doesn't hold any clues for anything, ever.
It's been doing this since I first got it this summer. I think its just crappy software, which coincides with my general impression of iTunes.
This might be my funkiest playlist of all time.
.
1. Belle & Sebastian - "Funny Little Frog" - The Life Pursuit
2. Cloud Cult - "The Acceptance: Responsible" - Light Chasers
3. Brother Ali - "Victory! (Come Forward)" - Shadows on the Sun

With Belle & Sebastian and Billy Bragg, nothing could be funkier!
Don't forget Soul Brother #1 AC Newman!
I purchased my roommate's ipod from him the other day so that I could bring all of my music to work. It's an exciting development.
The Black Keys - "Black Mud" - Brothers
The Stooges - "1969" - The Stooges
The Hives - "Love In Plaster" - Tyrannosaurus Hives

The Clash - "Rudie Can't Fail" - London Calling
as someone who used to lug around a 100CD case with me everywhere, the ipod was a welcome bit of innovation.
I had like a dozen CD wallets for my different moods. One was Jazz, one was Japanese, etc.
that doesn't surprise me at all.
The Hives - "Love In Plaster" - Tyrannosaurus Hives
love that song!
It's probably my favorite Hives song.

6. Carl Craig recorded a soundtrack for some movie called Landcruising, which was released on WEA label Blanco Y Negro in 1995. (Only in the UK, too. I've got my copy which I bought for like $30.) It's long out of print and I don't think Craig could even figure out who to talk to about obtaining the rights, so he remixed and re-edited all of the songs and re-released it on his own label under the title listed above.
7. This was one of my favorite JHE songs when I was first getting into the band as a teenager. Feels wrong to have it on shuffle, so it's not followed by “If 6 Were 9”.

montreal picked up a lot of that. the beauty of them out here is so... complex? i mean that in the best possible way too. sitting on a train or at a restaurant, at first glance you're like, yeah, she's cute. second glance, oh, wait, she's really cute. then, she is beautiful, then ohmygod have my babies...

my waitress (and the hostess too) last night was one of about 15 examples of this from yesterday alone. also, any woman speaking french adds that much more beauty.

That's a lot of Nirvana, no wonder they show up every week in my random 10.
