VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

CARACAS 7, ARAGUA 4 IN CARACAS

Twins:  Oswaldo Arcia was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double.  He also struck out once.  David Bromberg gave up one run on two hits and four walks while striking out three in 2.2 innings.  Cesar Ciurcina surrendered three runs (two earned) on a hit and a walk while striking out one in two-thirds of an inning.

Game summary:  Aragua led 3-1 after three, but Caracas scored three in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Aragua:  Francisco Butto threw two shutout innings of relief.

Caracas:  Luis Rodriguez (Seattle) was 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles.  Angel Calero pitched two shutout innings.

MARGARITA 9, ANZOATEGUI 4 IN ANZOATEGUI

Game summary:  Anzoategui scored two in the first, but Margarita tallied five times in the second and never trailed again.

Margarita:  Frank Diaz was 3-for-4 with a double and scored three times.  Jairo Marquez was 2-for-4 and drove in three.

Anzoategui:  Luis Nunez (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Carlos E. Rojas worked three hitless innings, allowing only a walk.

LARA 8, ZULIA 4 IN LARA

Game summary:  Lara scored four times in the sixth to break a 3-3 tie.

Zulia:  Ernesto Mejia (Atlanta) was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple.  Wilfredo Boscan (Texas) threw three shutout innings.

Lara:  Joe Thurston was 2-for-5 with a double and drove in two.  Hernan Iribarren (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a triple.

MAGALLANES 3, LA GUAIRA 2 IN MAGALLANES

Game summary:  Magallanes overcame a 2-1 deficit by scoring two in the eighth.  The winning run was unearned.

La Guaira:  C. J. Retherford (Dodgers) was 3-for-3 with a double and home run, driving in two.  Derrick Loop (Dodgers) gave up one run on three hits and two walks in five innings.

Magallanes:  Toru Murata (Cleveland) allowed one run on three hits in five innings.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

GUASAVE 9, LOS MOCHIS 7 IN GUASAVE

Twins:  Chris Colabello was 3-for-4 with a walk and three doubles, scoring twice and driving in three, for Guasave.

Game summary:  Los Mochis led 6-5 after six, but Guasave scored four times in the seventh to take a lead it would never relinquish.

Los Mochis:  Sebastian Valle (Philadelphia) was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs.  Luis Niebla worked 3.2 scoreless innings.

Guasave:  Jesus Cota was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Jesus Lopez was 2-for-3 and drove in three.

CULIACAN 8, MAZATLAN 3 IN MAZATLAN

Game summary:  Culiacan took a 5-1 lead after three and was never challenged.

Culiacan:  Cory Aldridge (Angels) was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, driving in two.  Ricardo Serrano was 3-for-5 with a triple, driving in three.

Mazatlan:  Jesus Castillo was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Heber Gomez was 2-for-3 with a double.

OBREGON 5, NAVOJOA 1 IN NAVOJOA

Game summary:  Obregon scored two in the first and led all the way.

Obregon:  Carlos Valencia was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run.  Arturo Lopez struck out five in five innings, allowing one run on four hits.

Navojoa:  Francisco Arias was 2-for-4.

HERMOSILLO 3, MEXICALI 1 IN HERMOSILLO

Game summary:  Karim Garcia homered for Hermosillo in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.  An insurance run was added in the seventh.

Mexicali:  Geronimo Gil was 2-for-3 with a double.  Jorge Campillo gave up two runs on three hits in six innings.

Hermosillo:  Miguel Ruiz allowed one run on five hits and no walks in six innings.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

LICEY 7, ESCOGIDO 6 IN LICEY

Twins:  Pedro Florimon was 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout for Escogido.

Game summary:  Escogido led 6-1 after seven, but Licey scored three in the eighth and three in the ninth.

Escogido:  Taylor Green was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Roger Kieschnick (San Francisco) was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored twice.

Licey:  Anderson Hernandez (Pittsburgh) was 3-for-5.  Michel Abreu was 2-for-4 with a double.

ORIENTE 2, ESTE 1 IN ORIENTE

Twins:  Drew Butera was 0-for-3 and struck out once for Oriente.

Game summary:  In the bottom of the ninth, Felix Pie doubled with one out and scored on an Alex Valdez single to win the game.

Este:  Aneury Rodriguez (Houston) pitched four shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk.

Oriente:  Ben Snyder (Texas) allowed an unearned run in four innings.  Manauris Baez worked three perfect innings.

AGUILAS 9, CIBAO 5 IN CIBAO

Game summary:  A four-run eighth increased the lead from 4-3 to 8-3 and put the game away.

Aguilas:  Chris Coghlan (Miami) was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, scoring twice and driving in three.  Lorenzo Barcelo (Dodgers) struck out six in five shutout innings.

Cibao:  Marcell Ozuna (Miami) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run.  Matt Clark (San Diego) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run.
