What's missing is exercise. I have only exercised once (plus one abbreviated stint) in the past two weeks. Various things have conspired against it, but I will try to get three sessions in before I return to Minnesota on Wednesday. After that, I will be at home for two weeks and I'll take up the cause in earnest then. I am up against a hard deadline at the end of the year at work and that means I have to put in long hours until 2013. When I'm here, I work. There's no sense in me being away from home if I'm not working. Regardless, though, I need to get some exercise, too.
On the diet front, I had a few days earlier this week when I struggled to stay with it. I was certainly tempted to go on a little food jag, but ultimately, I was able to prevent myself from straying from the goal. I thought about some of the foods that I've missed during this process: ice cream, potato chips, you know, things that will send me on the path back to 284.5. It made me realize during my contemplations on food that these desires sparked that I need to be very diligent going forward, but I will want to have some enjoyment. One of my ideas is to maintain a fairly strict regimen during the week, but have one night on the weekend where my wife and I cook some different foods. I think we can enjoy that and if we go for fairly healthy choices, it doesn't have to be something that blows my diet and relegates me to losing the 3 pounds I gained on the weekend every week.
