ADELAIDE 5, MELBOURNE 3 IN ADELAIDE (GAME 1—9 INNINGS—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

TwinsJoshua Hendricks (Melbourne) was 0-for-4 but scored once.

Game summary:  Melbourne scored in the top of the ninth to go ahead 3-2, but Nathan Melendres (Seattle) hit a walk-off, three-run homer for Adelaide.

Melbourne:  Hirotaka Koishi pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and five walks.  Elliot Biddle was 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer.

Adelaide:  Jeremy Cresswell was 3-for-4 with a walk and scored twice.  Melendres was 1-for-3 with two walks.

ADELAIDE 18, MELBOURNE 1 IN ADELAIDE (GAME 2)

TwinsJoshua Hendricks (Melbourne) was used as a reserve and walked in his only plate appearance.  Sam Gibbons (Melbourne) surrendered nine runs on ten hits and two walks while striking out four in 4.1 innings.

Game summary:  Adelaide scored six in the fifth to take a 10-0 lead.

Melbourne:  Carlo Testa (Kansas City) was 1-for-2 with two walks and scored once.  Liam Bedford was 1-for-2 with two walks.

Adelaide:  Paul Mildren worked six shutout innings, allowing three hits and four walks. Justin Howard (Pittsburgh) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a walk, scoring twice and driving in three.

PERTH 3, BRISBANE 2 IN PERTH (GAME 1—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

TwinsLogan Wade (Brisbane) was 0-for-3.

Game summary:  Perth scored in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie.  The go-ahead run scored on a wild pitch.

Brisbane:  Adam Gordon was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.  Nathan Crawford worked 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up only a walk.

Perth:  Scott Mitchinson allowed two runs on two hits and three walks in five innings.  Adam Melker was 2-for-3.

PERTH 4, BRISBANE 3 IN PERTH (GAME 2)

Game summary:  Perth scored in the eighth to break a 3-3 tie.  The go-ahead run scored on an error.

Brisbane:  Carlos Alonso (Philadelphia) was 3-for-4 with a double and a run.  Rhys Niit pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

Perth:  Matt Zachary struck out four in three shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk.  Allan de San Miguel (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

CANBERRA 6, SYDNEY 2 IN SYDNEY

TwinsJacob Younis (Syndey) was 0-for-4.  JaDamion Williams (Sydney) was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored once.  Josh Guyer (Sydney) worked three shutout innings, giving up four hits and a walk.

Game summary:  Canberra scored four in the first to take a 4-0 lead and got two insurance runs in the ninth.

Canberra:  K. C. Hobson (Toronto) was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs, and two RBIs.  Marcus Knecht (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and an RBI.

Sydney:  Shane Benson was 2-for-4 and scored once.  Chris Snelling was 1-for-1 with four walks and an RBI.
