TwinsDaniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk and scored once.  Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 1-for-4.  Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 0-for-4.

Game summary:  Mayaguez scored three runs in each of the first two innings to take a 6-3 lead.  Santurce closed to 6-4 in the fifth, and Mayaguez got two more in the eighth.

Santurce:  Jeff Dominguez was 3-for-4 with a double.  Geraldo Valentin was 3-for-5 and scored once.

Mayaguez:  Irving Falu (Kansas City) was 4-for-5 with a double and a triple, scoring three times and driving in two.  Randy Ruiz was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs.

Game summary:  Carolina led 3-0 after five and then scored eight in the sixth.

Ponce:  Henry Ramos (Boston) was 2-for-3.

Carolina:  Mario Santiago struck out six in six innings, allowing four hits and one walk.  Jesus Feliciano was 1-for-2 with a triple and two walks, scoring twice and driving in three.

PONCE 6, CAROLINA 2 IN CAROLINA (GAME 2—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Game summary:  Ponce scored three in the third and two in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.

Ponce:  Adalberto Flores gave up one hit and one walk in four innings, striking out three.  Christian Colon was 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in one.

Carolina:  Ben Lasater hit a home run.

CAGUAS 12, MANATI 9 IN MANATI

Game summary:  Caguas led 10-3 after five, 11-6 after seven, and 12-9 after eight.

Caguas:  Ramon Castro was 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs.  Lou Montanez was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, scoring twice and driving in three.

Manati:  Keiji Nakahara was 2-for-5 with a double and a home run, scoring twice and driving in three.  Helder Velazquez was 3-for-4 with a double and scored three times.
