Well, today starts a new month. Yep, we have our WGOM Fitness Month that starts on the 15th, but this other, less popular calendar has a new month starting today, so I thought we'd recap.
On January 1, I weighed 214.7 pounds and this morning, I weighed in at 208.0 for a total loss of 6.7 pounds, which at this point is about all I would want to lose in a month. That puts me at 76.5 pounds lost or 90.53% of my goal. I'm within one Delmon Young weight loss clause of hitting my goal.
Last night, I went to spinning class at the focus was on the anaerobic threshold. I don't have a heartrate monitor and I have been meaning to get one, so I don't know if I was at the anaerobic threshold or not. But, I can tell you that we did long stretches of high tension riding. By the end, I was pretty tired. Usually, it seems like I can always go longer, but I was pretty glad when that was done. Still, though, it was a fun ride and I recommend the spinning classes for anyone who has access to them.
That makes 9 workouts in this WGOM Fitness month at the halfway point. I'm a little behind, but that's due to a poor showing in the last trip to ND. With a commitment here in MN and a better showing on my next trip, I'll be able to hit my goal of 20 workouts.
I'll be at 9 after working out today. I'm starting to get shin splints, so I'm gonna take the weekend off from jogging, and I'll just do lifting one of those days. Which means if I stick to my plan, I'll be at 10 after the weekend. I'll need to really stick with it after that to make the goal, but it might be doable. It might not, but I'm feeling pretty good still.
Yesterday was a day of rest, and I ended up indulging a little too (on the road for a trial, ate out (though ate less than I maybe would have before) and had a few sodas). Stepped on the scale today and wasn't any higher than I was the day before, which felt pretty good. It means maybe my working out is working out.
Shin splints are part of the reason I hate running.
In that past I've found that they'll leave in a few weeks if I maintain this level of activity during that period. It'll be a rough couple weeks, but I can make it through. If it lasts longer, then I'll have to figure out something else.
Yesterday I had an after work party for a coworker that's leaving. I had quite a bit to drink and I got home late. But Thursdays are my lifting days and I'm not going to be able to make it up this weekend. So last night I found out that alcohol leaves my upper body quite a bit weaker. Got it done though!
It doesn't leave you weaker, it just affects your reading. Those "2"s were "5"s.
Psh. 5? Why would I even own something I can't lift off the ground?
I recorded a new low in weight this morning: 182.2. When I started, I was at 195 on a good day. I think I have a bit farther to go, but the point where I cease losing fat is nigh. Then, time to improve my awful upper body strength (and flexibility).
Ugh, flexibility. So I strained my back last week and didn't get to the gym. I figured I hurt my back in part because my hamstrings are too tight, so yesterday morning I tried to stretch them out and hyperextended something in my knee. Holycrapithurtslikehell.
Anyway, I hope it feels better soon enough to work out tomorrow and take my daughter ice skating on Sunday.
