      1. It's denominated by performer, not film.

I would say the link is semi-NSFW. Visually, the worst is four pictures of two scantily clad women. The text will almost surely trigger any sex filter though.

      2. Yeah, the link is pretty safe. It's actually sort of a funny study.

I think Kelly Wells retired. I go to her IMDb page every couple of years out of dark curiosity, and I recently noticed that she hasn't done any films since 2010. That might not seem like long, but she was doing 20-30 a year some years before that, so I think it's a safe bet that the industry has become a slightly less ugly place.

  1. Little help from the citizenry - working on a puzzle courtesy of my "smart people" calendar. Got 6/8 fairly easily, but I'm stumped on these two. No repository searches or _oogling please. If you know the answer, please spoiler it.

    WI flying ace Eddie _ _ _ _ _ N B A _ _ _ _

    Operetta composer Jacques _ _ _ _ N B A _ _

    1. All "spoilered" answers are correct - thanks guys.

spoons, if it makes you feel better, I'm more impressed that you knew the composer. I wasn't sure if anyone would have that answer in their brain.

  2. Britt Robson is terrific and his latest take on the Wolves is another example of his prowess. He argues that the club should now stand pat.

But after a long, long stretch of performing worse than any of the other 29 NBA franchises, the Wolves are also obligated to reward long-suffering fans with a quality product. The raw materials for that product seem to exist on the current roster. Short-circuiting the chance to see these players gel, for the sake of more savings or senseless churning, will be a fool’s errand if it doesn’t produce an immediate winner. The warranty has expired on reasonable patience.

    1. My favorite part was this suggestion:

From where I sit, losing Pek in free agency is the biggest danger to this team finally taking a significant step forward next season.

      I agree.

  3. meat, I chatted with my old man this morning and he mentioned throwing an entire bag of beads at you.

  4. Question for those familiar with the Baltimore-DC area:

My wife and I have been invited to a wedding outside of Baltimore this September. We're researching flights to give us an idea of what we'll need to save to make it happen (with her illness our income has been very low this year). It looks like flights into DCA (National) are about $100 less than those to BWI, and car rental quotes seem to be the same at each location. Is it worth our while to fly from Chicago to National instead of BWI, or are we just opening ourselves to other kinds of hassle?

    1. I flew into DCA when a couple years ago on a business trip. Traffic was a bitch trying to get to my hotel near the Pentagon (during rush hour, though), but I otherwise had little problem getting around, although I was only going to Capital Heights, MD. If you get flights that get in and leave in the middle of the day I don't think you'll have many problems. Driving through downtown DC was actually not that bad.

    2. I routinely tried for DCA, but I was always using the metro anyway. It's a fairly easy airport too.

    3. DCA and BWI are both wayyyyyyyyy superior to Dulles (IAD) if you're trying to get around in a car. I'm assugreying that you will be renting a car to get to the wedding. DCA driving to Baltimore will take, at minimum, an hour, so budget your time accordingly.

      1. Yes, we'll need to rent. Mrs. Hayes had researched just driving out, but then I reminded her that the wedding is during the semester. The wedding's about half and hour west of Baltimore. Not sure if that's also where we'd plan on staying, or if we'd prefer to stay in the city. I've never been to Baltimore before and would like to check a bit of it out since I'm going to be that close.

        1. My wife and I went to Baltimore for a concert a few years back. Ween was playing a total dump venue: under a parking ramp, basically underneath the Jones Falls Expressway (I83?). Seemed a bit like St. Paul - pretty devoid of life (it was during the football/baseball off-season).

        2. an hour west of Baltimore?? Why not fly into Dulles instead of BWI or National? Despite the truth of what DPWY says, it still puts you a hell of a lot closer to Frederick (which is ~an hour west of Baltimore) than either of the other options.

          1. True, if you're going to Frederick, IAD might actually make the most sense because you won't have to backtrack all the way to the Beltway to head north. However, if you're going somewhere in which the driving directions involve getting on 495, then you might as well use National because it is way more convenient.

  5. Don't think I've seen it mentioned here, but Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" on Crackle.com is very funny. I've seen the Alec Baldwin, Michael Richards, and Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks episodes. Basically, Jerry picks a different car each episode and picks up a comedian and they have coffee, so it is just comedians getting together to make each other laugh.

  6. On the grill - Italian sausages from D&D in So. Hartford - pork sausage w/ red wine, and chicken sausage w/ broccoli rabe. Also broccoli rabe (boiled in salt water, then dunked in iced water, then sauteed with olive oil and garlic).

    1. I love broccoli rabe. Great pairing with grilled sausages -- the bitter edge cuts right through the fatty, salty awesomeness of sausages.

Similar, but somewhat more broccoli-ish, is broccolini. Costco has been peddling the broccolini of late. Great roasted or sauteed.

        1. NBBW is Catholic, but not I. That being said, I'm thinking lets get an I'teye back in there.

    1. I want to see a mascot all-star game. I'm picturing TC Bear laying down a bunt on Mr. Met and hustling down the line for at least a double.

      1. I saw a pregrame mascot game at the Metrodome once. Three innings maybe? TC and a lot of corporate mascots. Maybe Crunch or Goldie, too? Quite ridiculous and much more spontaneous than, say, mascot races.
Funniest thing was some inflated mascot that slowly deflated. There was a person in it, but like the oversized thing was a balloon over the person's head and upper body.

    2. yeah, ESPN has it on after the Home Run Derby.
I said to my brother earlier this week that these celebrity games are nothing without MTV running the show.

      Dan Cortese!!!

they eventually added crazy things like places on the court worth 5 points and a 25 foot high basket worth like 50 points or some crazy thing.
