May 4, 2013: Loss

A couple of months ago, my good friend from work, Nayasha, moved back home to New York. She died yesterday. I don't know why yet, but she's gone. I've lost a lot of young people in my workplaces over the years, but this one stings. I worked near her and no one else for about a full year and we never tired of one another.

This has been a hell of a stressful week, guys. Keep me afloat.

  1. Sorry to hear that, spooky. I wish i could say more than that but i don't really have any experience with something like that. You'll be in my thoughts though, buddy.

    1. I have an irrational amount of experience with it, and there's rarely anything I can say to others, either. There's not much to be said or done, particularly when it's such a shock. I found out late last night after typing the CoC that it was heart failure. She was actually supposed to drive her sister to the hospital, and by the time she got to her house, her sister had to drive. Nay died at the hospital shortly after.

She was 26 or 27, and one of her brothers is also gone from heart failure. Their family's had it far too rough.

  2. It's only been a few days, but having a smart phone has been pretty convenient, i have to admit. Also, swyping is the greatest thing ever.

      1. The builtin version in newer Android versions (4.2 and later), it's improved a bunch and very easy to use. I was skeptical but it's now my primary method of input.

        1. hmm. I may take another look. My phone is due for an upgrade, although I'm not sure I'm ready to pay for one.

    1. The Kent State shootings—also known as the May 4 massacre or the Kent State massacre[2][3][4]—occurred at Kent State University in the U.S. city of Kent, Ohio, and involved the shooting of unarmed college students by the Ohio National Guard on Monday, May 4, 1970. The guardsmen fired 67 rounds over a period of 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis

  4. On a completely different and happier note, I got the cat-font header again this morning. So. Much. Joy. kudos.

  5. American Airlines is so awesome. Sitting on the plane delayed an hour or more for maitenance reasons and might miss my connecting flight to bangkok. Awesome. Also, I called AA to see if there were any flights after the one I am supposed to be on tommorrow evening from Tokyo and she was dumbfounded that I was concerned about missing a flight that leaves "tommorrow".

      1. I think i will also end my relationship with them. I now have to figure out where to stay in Tokyo, but at least I'm on a plane that should leave Dallas.

  6. FOX 'national' game is O's at LAAAA.
the biggest takeaway from this game is that Freddie Garcia (!!!) is pitching for the O's.

  7. Jeremy Guthrie just Jeremied the Pale Hose: 4 hit, 3 strikeout CGSHO.
Hawk Harrelson was had a somber tone in his voice after the 6th inning.
