    2. Hat tip to Daneeka's Ghost. I'm not blown away, but it's decent tape noise and guitars.

    T. The original release on Dinkytowner, not the NinjaTune reissue. This version is ten seconds longer, with a sample of a voice speaking and some static being edited for the international version.

      This still kicks, but this seems like it was their peak: single #2. (At least as far as US Radio play was concerned.)
      I saw them at Edgefest right as this was getting heard ("Everything Zen" had just crested) and they were great.
      One or two years later, I saw them at Roy Wilkins and they weren't. Not bad, but the energy sagged, and the cover of REM's "One I Love" seemed obligatory rather than vital fuzzing of a beloved-by-the-band touchstone. If you were at both, YMMHVd.

  6. #29 is Hoist by Phish. I don't see a lot of Phish being spun around here, but I might be the biggest fan of jam bands around these parts. My ten favorite Phish songs then!

  13. I've been on another Italians Do It Better kick because I haven't got a chance to listen to After Dark 2 yet. It's up for $10 on iTunes... or I can wait until they get physical copies in on the IDIB store and order vinyl for $10-15 and get a digital download immediately. My patience is quicky fading, but there's a bunch of stuff being restocked so I really should wait so I don't miss them this time. Argh.

    1. coincidentally, i almost spun some glass candy today, but i couldn't quite find a video to my liking.

      i should also add that i really like the idea of digital downloads accompanying vinyl purchases.

    *Perhaps my most enjoyable moment ever of teasing Sheenie's sister the music snob involved The Shins. It's too long to explain, but I had both Sheenie and one of her sister's really good friends unable to stifle their laughter at her.
