June 9, 2013: She’ll Get There

I had another in a series of chess games against Skim last night. She can't beat me, but she's starting to learn how to protect pieces. It'll happen...

  1. Fogo de Chao was fine, but I wound up leaving sad. Behind us at a table were three people. A guy, in his late 40's, wearing a suit. A girl next to him, maybe 18 years old, looking very demure with a revealing top. And across the table, the most cliché pimp you've ever seen. Sparkly gold jacket, heavy jewelry, walked like he was about to break out into disco at any moment, and talked like he owned the place. He was trying to get the girl liquored up, and kept begging the staff to get her something, but they refused, thankfully, because she couldn't prove she was 21. The suit kept running his hand up her dress and the girl was forcing smiles to him all night. I almost wanted to cry. I didn't have absolute proof of the situation, but if she wasn't the gold jacket's property, then I don't know what was going on.

Oh, and I tried to order a Harvey's Wallbanger and the bartender had to come over and apologize for not knowing what it was. Not that they had the ingredients for it. Only bar I've ever been to that has was at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater.

    1. The national's announcers talked about that play for like 20 minutes. It was great.

      1. Dazzle and Atteberry talked about it for at least 5 minutes, too.

And I remember something similar at Target Field, last year. I bet Mags finds a clip of it soon.

    2. What's extra crazy is that's not the first time he's done something like that. I'll see if I can find the other gif.
      Edit: Bingo

  2. I may have mentioned here or there that I was in San Diego yesterday, and had the good sense to stop in to The Regal Beagle for a late lunch before my return flight. Excellent beer list (their online list is rather inaccurate, but illustrative) and delicious sausages and sweet potato fries. Only about a mile or so from my car rental return place. #winning
