Minor Details: Games of 6/18

An excellent outing by Trevor May.  A big game for Matt Koch.  Twins affiliates sweep!

ROCHESTER 4, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 3 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE

Batting starsDoug Bernier was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring once.  Antoan Richardson was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Chris Herrmann was 2-for-5 with a rrunn annd ann RRBI.

Pitching starAndrew Albers pitched 6.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks.

Opposition star:  Francisco Rondon pitched three shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk.

Key inning:  The first.  Richardson doubled, went to third on a Herrmann sinngle, and scored on a single by Chris Colabello.  A ground out put runners on second and third and a sacrrifice fly scored Herrmann to make it 2-0.  The Red Wings built a 4-0 lead after two and held on from there.

NEW BRITAIN 8, ERIE 0 IN ERIE

Batting starsDanny Santana was 4-for-5 with a double and scored twice.  Nate Hanson was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in three.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-5 with a home run (his eighth) and two RBIs.

Pitching starsTrevor May struck out nine in 7.2 innings, giving up four hits and a walk.  Cole Johnson pitched one inning, giving up only a walk.

Opposition stars:  None.

Key inning:  The fifth.  It was a scoreless tie.  Two singles and a walk loaded the bases with one out.  Hanson delivered a two-run single to put the Rock Cats on the board.  Another single loaded the bases.  Miguel Sano hit a sacrifice fly, and an error on the play scored a second run to make the score 4-0.

Prospect watchSano was 0-for-4 with an RBI.  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored twice.

FORT MYERS 15, PALM BEACH 6 IN FORT MYERS

Batting starsMatt Koch was 4-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, and a home run (his fourth), scoring four times and driving in three.  Jhon Goncalves was 3-for-4 with a walk, a home run (his second), and three RBIs.  Kennys Vargas was 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, and a home run (his thirteenth), scoring four times and driving in two.

Pitching starMatt Tomshaw pitched six innings, giving up three runs on ten hits and no walks.

Opposition stars:  Stephen Piscotty was 4-for-5 with two doubles and two homers, driving in four.  Nick Longmire was 3-for-4 with a double and scored once.  Juan Castillo was 3-for-4.

Key inning:  The third.  Trailing 3-1, the Cardinals got a home run from Piscotty to make it 3-2.  In the bottom of the inning, Stephen Wickens doubled, Vargas walked, and Koch hit a two-run double.  With one out, Mike Kvasnicka doubled to make it 6-2.

Prospect watchAderlin Mejia was 0-for-4 with a walk.

MIDWEST LEAGUE EAST 6, MIDWEST LEAGUE WEST 5 IN DAYTON

TwinsByron Buxton was 0-for-3.  Niko Goodrum was 1-for-1 with a walk and two RBIs.  Dalton Hicks was 1-for-3.  Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-3 and scored once.  Jorge Polanco was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.  Jose Berrios pitched a third of an inning, giving up a run on a hit and a walk and striking out one.  Steven Gruver retired both batters he faced, striking out one.

West stars:  Dan Vogelbach was 2-for-2 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Carlos Correa was 2-for-3.  Renato Nunez was 2-for-3.

East star:  Devon Travis was 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs.

Key inning:  The ninth.  Trailing 5-2, the West scored three times to tie it up.  A walk, a single, and another walk loaded the bases.  Goodrum delivered a two-run single and a wild pitch scored the third run.  In the bottom of the inning, Brandon Drury hit a lead-off double followed by a walk.  The runners had advanced to second and third with two out.  Dalton Pompey then singled in the winning run.

DSL TWINS 4, DSL GIANTS 1 AT GIANTS

Batting starsJorge Parra was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice.  Jet Hernandez was 0-for-2 with two walks and scored once.

Pitching stars:  Starter Alexis Tapia pitched four innings, giving up an unearned run on no hits and a walk while striking out three.  Ramses Herrera struck out four in four innings, giving up one hit.  Jadison Jimenez pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Michael Santos struck out four in five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks.  Jose Morles was 1-for-2 with a walk and the only Giants hit, a double.

Key inning:  The fourth.  The Twins trailed 1-0.  A pair of walks put runners on first and second with two out.  Jhonathan Alvarez singled in the tying run and Antonio Tovar singled in the go-ahead run.

    1. But is it RRBI or RrBI?
      I always had this problem with the letters "LL" and "RR" in Spanish (although "RR" never starts a word -- that I know of).
