Another 2013 Game 113: Twins at White Sox

Still have no internet, but now due to incompetence. Who thought it was a good idea to have multiple houses share a phone line? Especially when the other house(s) has boring conversations on the phone.

  1. Pregame show, Tim Laudner talking about how it's so awful the Twins are striking out so much, then bemoaning that the Twins pitcher try too hard to strike out guys and need to let the guys behind them make plays. Which one is it?

    1. one thing he fails to say is that the Twins are taking a lot of pitches this year. Not too many times this year where its the 6th inning and the SP is under 90 pitches

  2. I would say this is a 'B squad' lineup for a spring training game for the Twins, but really outside of Joe Mauer not playing its real major league players. yeeesh

  3. ok, so 5 strikeouts out of 7 outs for this pitcher, but his pitch count is 55.
we want to see the Sox bullpen!

  4. Bert was asked what is keeping Hendriks from staying in the Majors? His answer 'consistency'

that answer seems vague. consistency in what? low pitch counts? not shaking off the catcher as much?

also, isnt that the stock answer for all our young pitcher struggles? Kyle Gibson needs more consistency, Hendriks does, Scott baker and Kevin Slowey did.

    1. That's the stock answer for all kinds of baseball men his age. I know it was a running joke on FJM. Anytime Morgan, during his online chats, didn't know the answer, he'd fall back on "consistency."

    2. I feel like it actually comes from a good place when people do this, though it's not very realistic. They take a snapshot of the best they've ever seen a player play and assume he should be able to play that way all that time. The reality of the fact, however, is that the player just isn't that good. If he were, he would not only play that well all the time, but he'd be even better sometimes. Bert just wants to believe the best about him. Well, not of Baker or Slowey, but the rest of them.

  5. I thought El Caballo had a chance at beating that one out. That is, until the camera pointed toward first base and he was still 5 steps away.

          1. You bring up a valid point. We've weakened our bullpen significantly by demoting him. I mean, Carroll had to pitch the other night.

  6. ummmm, when Colabello is running and Herrmann is not swinging.... someone messed up

  7. Hey guys, remember when Willingham hit that game tying home run in the 8th inning?

  8. Arcia does not see many fastballs these days

that said, Lindstrom threw a nasty breaker (curve?) and got his swinging

  9. Dick Bremer: 'Can the Twins find a way to score a run without a home run?'

me: 'a 3 run home run would be awesome right now'
