2013 Game 115: Twins at Hosers

Kevin Correia faces Jose Quintana, a reasonably talented 24-year-old, on the South Side.

Here's the prediction spreadsheet.

Four Citizens currently have seven of the playoff-bound teams correct: CarterHayes, DK, Philosofer and sean.

This was the first update since around game 54 of the season, and each league had but a single change: Tampa Bay subbed in for the Yankees, and the Dodgers subbed in for Arizona.

Washington and Toronto continue to be the most-picked non-playoff-bound teams.

Any other AMRs out there can break this down further, if they see the need. We never did settle on a points system for this, so maybe I should figure one out...

    1. Funny how that corresponds with the bunch of home runs the Twins have hit this series, too.

    1. Didn't look like Morneau called it, or if he did Correia didn't listen. Definitely should have been Mornie's play, but Correia still should have caught it.

  1. I thought Garcia was out at first, but Bert was talking about pinwheel fireworks from 30 years ago so we'll just say the ump must have gotten it right.

      1. Yeesh, my math skills have deteroriated. Or I can blame it on getting dumber from listening to Dick'n'Bert.

    1. You know, I wouldn't mind a retired player coming in every now and then and causing the conversation to totally devolve into stories of the past if that wasn't 90% of what Dick and Bert focused on already.

  2. Tom Paciorek, in the booth, asked how to pronounce Sano's last name. Bremer offered that it rhymes with "Cano." Is that right? No tilde over the N?

      1. Whoa. That's gonna take some getting used to. I remember assuming the pronunciation of "Cuddyer" incorrectly for years, too, until I was straightened out upon his promotion to the big leagues. IIRC, the radio guys mispronounced it, which is most of the reason why I did.

  3. everyone is hitting homers today

    Cedar Rapids Kernels ‏@CRKernels
Adam Brett Walker with a towering 3-run HR over the batters eye in center! Kernels lead 6-1 as we head to the bottom of the 5th.

Walker now with 26 HR and 102 RBI. Franchise record for RBI is 121 by John Tanner in 1949.

  4. F8-7-6-4 DP in the Yankees/Tigers game. I think Brett Gardner got a concussion on the play too, or at the very least got the wind knocked out of him. Wild stuff.

  5. Heh, i like how, after reading the game log so far, i was shocked to see it was 5-0 Twins.

    1. So, obviously, the question needs to be asked whether the twins have ever done that before.

      1. FSN is the first time in MLB history a team have scored 19+ runs in a series, all by HR.

  6. lost one of our best relief pitchers

    Phil Miller ‏@MillerStrib
    Carroll traded to KC

  7. I like it when the Twins hit home runs. I like it when our starting pitcher pitches seven shutout innings, too. We're still on track for 99-63!
