  1. Le Menu at Chez Hayes tonight:

Dry-rubbed, bone-in, thick-cut pork chops with roasted beets, chevre, and fresh basil. Dry rub contains fresh-ground ancho chile peppers, finely-chopped piloncillo, allspice, cumin, paprika, coriander, garlic powder, onion powder, dry mustard, oregano, salt, and black pepper.

    1. numnum.

I haven't grocery shopped since I got back from Santa Fe on tuesday evening. The cupboard is bare. Wife and Girl return tonight. I will probably dine on beer, hummous and chips.

    2. I took my parents out for supper at the Mexican restaurant. I had something called 'tacos al carbon'. they were awesome.

      1. What were they? Better than tacos el cabrón, I'm sure. We had flautas de pollo last night, but I splurged and got a "taco loco" (marinated pork & onions, grilled steak, and cheese).

        1. LOL.
well, they were steak tacos. so whatever the translation for this is, thats what I had.

    3. On the grill: a nest. Seriously.

Last used it on Monday, so that was an industrious animal.

    1. Aw, crap. Wish I'd read this earlier; I was in 324, I would've come down and given you an Alliance fist-bump.

  2. Dick says it's valuable having the power "distributed evenly throughout the lineup" and touts seven 10+ homer guys in the lineup like it's still 1980 or something.

    1. I will say this, its nice to get double digit HR production from the 'up the middle' positions (Mauer 11, Dozier 12, Hicks/Thomas 12, Florimon with only 7)

      1. That's a good point. If the corner guys were pulling their weight, that would look pretty darn good.

      2. Yeah, compare to, say
        2008: Mauer 9, Casilla 7, Punto 2, Buscher 4, Gomez 7, Span 6, Harris 7, Lamb 1, Cuddy 3
        2010: Mauer 9, Hudson 6, Hardy 6, Valencia 7, Span 3, Punto 1, Casilla 1,
        2011: Butera 2 (Mauer 3), Casilla 2, Nishi 0, Revere 0, Del 4, Hughes 7, Span 2, Tolbert 0,
        2012: Mauer 10, Casilla 1, Dozier 6, Span 4, Revere 0, Carroll 1, Mastroianni 3

  3. Keppinger's SLG coming into this game was an awesome .285 in 376 PA. (OPS of .552 yikes)

  4. Do we really have to watch Correia pitch next year, too? I'm close to skipping all of his starts from now on.

  5. So, Colabello was optioned back to AAA. His last fourteen games he was at .272/.415/.485 (33 AB's), and the last seven games he'd batted .368/.500/.579 (19 AB's).

I sure would have rather kept him on the roster than Wilkin Ramirez (no offense, Wilkin).

    1. from the quote I was reading, both Gardy and Terry Ryan really liked Colabello (good teammate, etc) but was kind of caught up in a numbers squeeze (boy, that Doumit contract extension last year doesnt look so hot now), but will be back for September callups

      1. At least after the Red Wings bring the Governor's Cup back to Rochester.
Maybe LaTroy Hawkins can ask to borrow it.

  6. Konerko and Dunn on the bases--I don't know if you could turn two on that ball against any 2 other players in baseball.

  7. I think the White Sox have 3 relievers named Veal. It seems like he is always in the game!

  8. Seems today is Mark Reynolds' first game with the Yankees, so what does he do? Obviously, hit a home run.
