  1. Twins games are rapidly disappearing commodity, so I'm watching as many as I can while they last, despite the low quality of play. I can't wait for the year when the Twins discover 'hitting' as a strategy for winning games. Also, I'm only up this early because the dog pooped all over the living room carpet.

    1. That's usually how I feel, but this season after the last two is really trying my patience. I am pretty annoyed I missed last night's game now.

I feel for you, spoons. That's no way to go through life.

  2. Man City's back line seems suspect.
Hull is running circles around them, but cant find the back of the net.

  3. Roberto Martinez has Everton players completely disinterested in attacking. Very frustrating.

    1. Ok, now they're building up some very long potential attacks but they all fizzle out well before actually becoming dangerous.

      1. Well, this referee has been awful. I don't think the non-penalty to Baines was a bad call, but the yellow to Barkley for a clean tackle was absurd. Missing Bellamy's elbow to the face of Baines was even worse. Pinnear has been fouled several times without any calls. The ref has been inconsistent and clueless.

  4. Since a lot of you guys have small children, I thought this was good. Lots of bad language.

We should take our children on record buying trips. We should read Keith Richards’ autobiography before bedtime (with some censoring). We should show them what a cassette tape looks like and tell them that if they make a really cool mixtape, they’ll make someone fall in love with them. We should force them to listen to the uncut versions of “Stairway to Heaven”, “American Pie” and “Free Bird” because they should be subjected to the same 20 minutes of radio monotony that we had to.

    1. Thannks.
I thinnk I've knownn enough of the pop charrts of the past decade-plus to be able to say that the last thrree yearrs or so have beenn a nreal low poinnt. "Blurrrred Linnes" might have beenn ann exceptionn except for the lyrrics, which are just horrrrible. I cannnnnot listenn to that crrap.

  5. Uncle Pat might be overselling last nights game a little bit

Twins have won 4,196 regular season games since 1961. Tonight was among 5 greatest upsets. BHTO goes to winner: Liam Hendriks.

    1. My brother and s-i-l are at the game. Too bad they don't get to see Jozy.

Also, I'm getting awfully sick of the Roberto Martinez era already. He has the Toffies trying to walk the ball across the goal line. Deloufou's appearance at the end and his willingness to actually unleash a shot was a breath of fresh air.

  6. I’ve gotten to the point where I have almost no desire to watch Twins games. I hate that.

Just don't watch them against the Royals. In the second half, the Twins are 1-8 against the Royals and 18-14 against everyone else. They're 4-3 in their last seven road games, all against winning teams. Of course, if Mauer doesn't return soon, that may change.

    1. the Mauerless Twins and lack of prospect on the team right now makes it very hard to watch.

        1. Oh, of course. Doogie tweeted a few minutes before it happened nothing was close so I was feeling relieved and comfortable he wasn't going to be traded. I probably shouldn't be so surprised.

      1. I have been hoping that the Pirates win the WS, now I really hope that they do.

Justin was a good soldier for the Twins. He will be missed. I hope he hits a few monstrous HRs in post season. It doesn't really matter what the Twins got for him. Just go into full tank mode now and let's get the third pick. Have Mauer sit out rest of year. Call up Sano and Hicks. Give all ABs to guys who might be with team next year.

        1. Why call up Sano now? He has to be added to the 40 man, and there's no reason to start his service clock considering he ought to spend at least a month in Rochester next year.

      1. On the other hand, with Mauer on the DL, that OPS would put him fourth among Twins players.

  8. I have a pretty neat little Super Mario animation in jQuery going on. If you press W, he jumps (sorta). If you press A/D, walks left/right (just don't hold it or it goes nutso). If you press S, he crouches. (That one I got nailed). It's super simple coding, and I'm pretty sure there's got to be an easier way, but it feels really cool to see what you coded work on the screen.

    1. I got the jump fixed. This is really cool. As long as you don't hold the keys down(I'm sure there's some sort of interrupt I need to learn), it looks just like the animations in the original Super Mario Bros. for NES

        1. Or click here on the "Result" tab. Then click on Mario to start. ASDW controls. Tap them, DON'T HOLD THEM. I don't have the one-at-a-time bit to work yet. If you hold it, it'll go nuts.

          UPDATED BELOW

          1. I just moon-walked Mario off the edge of the page. I think he flipped me the bird as he disappeared. Oh, wait, he came back! It definitely does not like the keys being held down (of course I tried it, I'm a guy).

            That's pretty neat, Mags.

    2. ASDW are still the controls. I've added left and right boundaries. I still wouldn't suggest you hold the keys, but if you do, Mario will only get so far.

Never mind, I've balls'd it up.

Never mind again, I've un-balls'd it. Weird things still happen if you hold the keys, but he stays on-screen now.

      1. Good stuff. I see you're using triple-equals, which is great. It might be easier to structure if you split the anonymous functions into proper functions and pass them to the jQuery events.

Alex Presley will wear uniform number 1 when he joins the #MNTwins

Can you name the last Twins player to wear #1?

    Spoiler SelectShow
    1. Kirk Ferentz should be refunding some of his salary back to the state of Iowa, where he is the highest paid employee

  10. Ron Gardenhire has 990 career wins
With no Mauer (for the foreseeable future) and now no Morneau, do the Twins have 10 wins in them?

  11. I just spent the last hour and a half talking with an employee of the Boston Celtics who knew KG personally and told me quite a bit about the Cs and KG. Yeah I enjoyed that.

  12. I don't understand why this isn't generally considered one the greatest pop song ever.
