Dominican Digest: Games of 10/19

A good day for Jorge Polanco.  Miguel Sano shows patience.  A walk-off walk in Licey.

ORIENTE 4, ESCOGIDO 2 IN ORIENTE

Twins:  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) was 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Miguel Sano (Oriente) was 0-for-2 with three walks.  Chris Herrmann (Oriente) was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Escogido:  Gregory Polanco (Pittsburgh) hit a home run.

Oriente:  Dean Anna (San Diego) was 3-for-4 with a walk and two doubles, driving in one.  Leandro Castro (Philadelphia) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Bruce Billings (Oakland) struck out six in five shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks.

The game:  Oriente led 3-1 through seven.  Escogido scored in the eighth to make it 3-2 and got the tying run to third with one out.  Oriente came back to get an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth when Anna hit an RBI double.

AGUILAS 12, ESTE 2 IN AGUILAS

Twins:  Danny Santana (Aguilas) was 1-for-5 and scored once.

Este:  Eugenio Velez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-2 with a two-run homer.  Jose Ramirez (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Jordan Pacheco (Colorado) was 2-for-4 with a double.

Aguilas:  Alexis Gomez was 4-for-5 with three doubles and four RBIs.  Andy Marte (Angels) was 2-for-5 with a walk and two doubles, scoring twice and driving in one.  Mike Bianucci (Texas) was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in two.

The game:  Aguilas scored two in the second, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth to take a 7-2 lead before putting it away with five in the sixth.  The five-run inning featured a home run, a walk, and four doubles.

LICEY 2, CIBAO 1 IN LICEY

Cibao:  Fabio Castro pitched four innings, giving up an unearned run on two hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

Licey:  Yamaico Navarro (Baltimore) was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.  Yunesky Maya (Washington) struck out five in 5.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit and two walks.

The game:  Licey scored one in the fourth, and Cibao tied it with one in the sixth.  Licey won the game on a single and error, a walk, a bunt, an intentional walk, and a bases-loaded walk.
