I cleared off my iPod on Wednesday and rebuilt my playlist from scratch of what I think I really want to hear.
Not sure how it's going yet, Yesterday was a lot of Halloween music. Today's the test.

That Masked and Anonymous Soundtrack album is pretty cool, highly recommended if you're into Dylan
The new Luscious Jackson album is streaming on NPR Music and has a fun vibe.
I'm liking the new Arcade Fire album Reflector a lot better than The Suburbs
Couple of weeks ago I saw a circa 70's Neil Young cover band with members of Low and Old Yeller. It was a blast. If they play again, I'll put the word out.
Upcoming shows with tickets in hand: Built to Spill - November 17, Doomtree Blowout - December 13, Neutral Milk Hotel - sometime in February. Might go to Ike Reilly the night before Thanksgiving.
I learned of that Tired Eyes/Sparhawk & Mattson do Neil gig after the fact, but I was definitely intrigued. Retribution Gospel Choir is already practically a Crazy Horse tribute band.
I was looking for you at Lee's as I thought you'd be into it. Definitely the most fun I've had at a local show in a long time.
So I recently learned that Google's music cloud is free up to 20,000 songs and I figured out how to shuffle all of my library using the Google player, so that's pretty great. I've had some annoying stoppages while driving because of bad signal, but otherwise its been pretty good to have.

*Notes:
2. New self-released album!
3. Mohn is a collaboration between Jörg Burger and Wolfgang Voigt (a/k/a Gas a/k/a Mike Ink), so this is basically another album form Burger/Ink or Burger/Voigt, the artists behind one of my favorite minimal house records, [Las Vegas]. I just learned of Mohn's existence this week.
5. Alec Empire/Techno Animal collab from 1998.
9. EAR and I were discussing the meaning behind the lyric "A pig is just ham." Given the lyrics around it, "I'm just a nephew to today's Uncle Sam" and "I believe Jesus is God", I wonder if there's some antagonism towards Muslims or PETA (or both?) embedded in it. Or, it just rhymes with "am" and it means more like "we're just flesh and bones".
Heard there's a new Pan Sonic album (a live album from an '09 concert) coming out.
Also that Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic) and Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O)))) are putting out an album together as ÄÄNIPÄÄ. I'll probably give that a chance. (Sample here)
The IPod thinks I should be rocking out today.

Took the day off of work for a Halloween hangover with the boy. I forgot what the internet looked like with the sun out.
The Wild Flag record isn't half bad. I picked it up for its Minders ties but have only given it a couple of spins so far. I will report back in December when I try to make a top 10 list of the 7 new records I have bought this year.

*full track runs 1:56:22, but I’m not sure what it is…something called “@ Skyrock 14-02-2004”. Something from my wife’s college collection….meh.
**also from a compilation CD in my wife’s college collection, but better. Not sure she would have been a fan had she watched the video.

lately, I have been watching/listening to concerts I found on YouTube. like this one from Elvis Costello 'This Years Model' era on Rockpalast (the band rips through about 13 songs in 45 minutes. its awesome)
Does anyone else watch/listen to concerts that way?
Absolutely. I listen to a lot of concerts (and full "LP's") off youtube while working.
I actually kind of like "Wrecking Ball". Ignoring (as I always do) all the media shenanigans and radio over-playing, I think Miley actually has a pretty nice voice.
My twitter timeline is filled with reports from the MBV show and how incredibly loud it is. #whydidntIgo?
