Twins: Chris Herrmann (Oriente) was 0-for-3.
Este: Matt Hague (Pittsburgh) was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Jose Ramirez (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a run. Elih Villaneuva (Miami) pitched 4.2 innings of relief, giving up one run on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
Oriente: Alex Valdez was 2-for-4 with a triple and a home run, scoring twice and driving in three. Alfredo Marte (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Evan MacLane struck out five in 4.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs on seven hits and one walk.
The game: Leading 1-0, Oriente scored three in the third, with Valdez hitting a two-run triple and later scoring, to make it 4-0. Hague hit a two-run single in the fifth to cap a three-run inning and cut the lead to 4-3, but Oriente got one of the runs back in the bottom of the fifth on a Valdez home run. Este did not get a man past first after that.
LICEY 3, ESCOGIDO 0 IN LICEY
Twins: Jorge Polanco (Escogido) was 0-for-5.
Escogido: Julio Lugo was 2-for-3 with a walk. Erik Gonzalez (Cleveland) was 2-for-4.
Licey: Sean Halton (Milwaukee) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Yunesky Maya (Washington) pitched five innings, allowing three hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
The game: Licey scored one in the third and two in the fifth. Halton had a two-run single in the fifth inning. Escogido loaded the bases in the sixth and got two runners on in the eighth.
