Venezuelan View: Games of 11/2

Lester Oliveros did as much as he could.  A good game for Edgar Ibarra.  The rest of the winter league reports will come either late this afternoon or tomorrow.

ANZOATEGUI 5, CARACAS 4 IN CARACAS

TwinsEduardo Escobar (Anzoategui) was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Lester Oliveros (Anzoategui) faced on batter and got him to hit into a double play.

Anzoategui:  Leslie Anderson (Tampa Bay) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run homer (his fourth), scoring twice.  Jose Castillo was 1-for-2 with two walks.  Mark Serrano (Arizona) pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up five hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

Caracas:  Jesus Aguilar (Cleveland) was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer (his seventh) and two runs.  Danny Dorn (Detroit) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a triple, scoring once and driving in one.  Aharon Eggleston was 2-for-3.

The game:  Anzoategui scored two in the first and it stayed 2-0 through five.  Caracas scored single runs in the sixth and seventh to tie it.  In the eighth, Anzoategui scored three times on four walks and a two-run single by Jose Gil.  Aguilar cut the lead to 5-4 with a two-run homer in the ninth and Caracas put runners on first and third with one out, but Oliveros induced a double play to end the game.

ARAGUA 5, MAGALLANES 3 IN MAGALLANES

TwinsOswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 0-for-4.  Ray Olmedo (Aragua) was 1-for-4 with a run.  Jermaine Mitchell (Aragua) was 0-for-4 with a run.  Edgar Ibarra (Aragua) struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and one walk.  Aaron Thompson pitched one-third of an inning, giving up one run on two hits and no walks.

Aragua:  Hector Gimenez was 2-for-5 with a double and a three-run homer, his fourth.  Luis Maza was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Yohan Pino (Cincinnati) pitched six innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Magallanes:  Erold Andrus was 2-for-4 with a run.  Carlos Hernandez pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeouts.

The game:  Aragua scored two in the second to take a 2-0 lead, but Magallanes tied it with two in the third.  Gimenez hit a three-run homer in the fifth to put Aragua up 5-2.  Magallanes scored once in the ninth and got the tying run up to bat with two out.

MARGARITA 7, LA GUAIRA 5 IN MARGARITA

TwinsAntoan Richardson (Margarita) was 1-for-4 with a walk and a double, driving in one.

La Guaira:  Alex Cabrera was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Cesar Suarez was 2-for-4 and scored once.

Margarita:  Breyvic Valera (St. Louis) was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs.  Caleb Joseph (Baltimore) was 1-for-2 with a walk and a home run, driving in four.

The game:  Margarita scored two in the first and got a three-run homer from Joseph in the third to go ahead 5-0.  It was 7-2 after six.  La Guaira came back in the seventh on an RBI double by Andy Wilkins and a two-run double by Cabrera to make it 7-5.  La Guaira had the tying run on base in that inning.

LARA 13, ZULIA 5 IN ZULIA

Lara:  Anderson De La Rosa (Milwaukee) was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in four.  Jesus Montero (Seattle) was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.  Raul Rivero struck out seven in seven innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and no walks.

Zulia:  Felix Perez was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a three-run homer (his fourth), scoring twice.  Ender Inciarte was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run.  Francisco Arcia was 2-for-4.

The game:  Lara scored four in the third, including a two-run homer by Joc Pederson (Dodgers), and three in the fourth, including a two-run single by Montero, to take a 7-2 lead that was never threatened.
