Twins: Eddie Rosario was 0-for-4. Max Kepler was 0-for-3 with a walk. A. J. Achter pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Glendale: Jared Mitchell (White Sox) was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, his fourth. Brandon Jacobs (White Sox) was 2-for-5 with a double and a run. Corey Seager (Dodgers) was 1-for-4 with a grand slam, his second homer.
Mesa: Steven Souza, Jr. (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Kris Bryant (Cubs) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Blaine Hardy (Detroit) struck out three in three shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks.
The game: Taylor Lindsey (Angels) homered in the fifth to give Mesa a 4-0 lead. It stayed there until the eighth, when Seager hit a grand slam to tie it up. Mitchell hit a two-run homer in the ninth to win it for Glendale.
PEORIA 6, SURPRISE 5 IN SURPRISE
Peoria: Aaron Altherr (Philadelphia) was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring three times and driving in one. Jonathan Meyer (Houston) was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Cameron Rupp (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with a walk and two doubles, scoring once.
Surprise: Dariel Alvarez (Baltimore) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Henry Urrutia (Baltimore) was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Mookie Betts (Boston) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run, scoring twice.
The game: Peoria used a hit batsman and two walks, one with the bases loaded, to build a three-run third and take a 4-0 lead. Surprise got two in the fourth and a two-run single by Alvarez tied it in the sixth. A Betts homer put Surprise ahead 5-4 in the seventh. In the ninth, Japhet Amador (Houston) led off with a home run to tie the score. Altherr then doubled, went to third on a passed ball, and scored on a sacrifice fly to give Peoria the lead.
SCOTTSDALE 7, SALT RIVER 4 IN SCOTTSDALE
Salt River: Jake Lamb (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer. Merrill Kelly (Tampa Bay) pitched two shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk with one strikeout.
Scottsdale: Alen Hanson (Pittsburgh) was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Andrew Susac (San Francisco) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a home run (his second), driving in three. Vidal Nuno (Yankees) struck out four in four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk.
The game: Scottsdale scored five in the second to go ahead 6-0. Jarrett Parker had a two-run triple and Susac a two-run homer in the inning. Salt River never got closer than the 7-4 final, which they achieved with a run in the eighth.
