Venezuelan View: Games of 11/6

Eduardo Escobar keeps hitting.  A six-pitcher shutout for Magallanes.  Oswaldo Arcia goes deep for Aragua.

ANZOATEGUI 4, CARACAS 1 IN ANZOATEGUI

Twins:  Eduardo Escobar (Anzoategui) was 1-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

Caracas:  Danny Dorn (Detroit) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Collin McHugh (Colorado) struck out seven in 6.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks.

Anzoategui:  Jose Castillo was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and three RBIs.  Chris Smith pitched six innings, allowing one run on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Caracas scored one in the first and it stayed 1-0 until the seventh, when Anzoategui scored once to tie it.  In the eighth, Escobar hit a one-out RBI double to give Anzoategui a 2-1 lead.  With two out, Castillo hit a two-run single to make it 4-1.  Caracas was retired in order in the ninth.

MAGALLANES 4, MARGARITA 0 IN MAGALLANES

Twins:  Antoan Richardson (Margarita) was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Margarita:  Breyvic Valera (St. Louis) was 2-for-4.  Eric Berger (Houston) pitched five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

Magallanes:  Adonis Garcia (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Ezequiel Carrera (Cleveland) was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.  Anthony Lerew pitched four innings, allowing four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  A Lew Ford sacrifice fly put Magallanes on the board in the third inning and a Robinson Chirinos (Texas) RBI double made it 2-0 in the fourth.  Carrera hit a two-run single in the seventh to make it 4-0.

ZULIA 10, ARAGUA 6 IN ARAGUA

Twins:  Josmil Pinto (Aragua) was 1-for-4.  Oswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer.  Aaron Thompson pitched one-third of an inning, giving up one run on one hit and no walks.  Virgil Vasquez (Zulia) started and pitched 4.2 innings, giving up six runs on nine hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

Zulia:  Ender Inciarte (Arizona) was 4-for-5 with a double and two runs.  Freddy Galvis (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run (his second) scoring twice and driving in four.  Felix Perez (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fifth) and four RBIs.

Aragua:  Guillermo Quiroz was 3-for-4 with a double and a run.  Jorge Cortes was 2-for-5 with a triple and a run.  Alex Romero was 2-for-4 with a run.

The game:  Arcia hit a three-run homer in the first to cap a five-run inning and give Aragua a 5-1 lead.  It stayed 5-1 until the fourth, when Zulia put up six.  Perez hit a three-run homer in the inning.  Aragua scored one in the fifth on a Hector Gimenez homer to cut the lead to 7-6.  In the seventh, Galvis hit a two-run homer as part of a three-run inning that made the score 10-6.
