Dominican League: Games of 11/9

A walk-off sacrifice fly in Escogido.  A two-run sixth carries Aguilas.  A pair of big early innings take care of things for Cibao.

ESCOGIDO 3, ORIENTE 2 IN ESCOGIDO (10 INNINGS)

Twins:  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) played in the field but did not bat.  Deibinson Romero (Escogido) was 0-for-4.

Oriente:  Bruce Billings struck out five in 5.1 innings, giving up one run on six hits and one walk.

Escogido:  Gregory Polanco (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once.  Pedro Ciriaco (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-5 with a double and a run.  Edward Valdez struck out nine in seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk.

The game:  Oriente scored two in the sixth to take a 2-0 lead.  Mauro Gomez (Washington) homered to make it 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth.  Brennan Boesch hit an RBI single in the eighth to tie it.  In the tenth, Ciriaco led off with a double and advanced on a pair of fly balls to score the winning run.

AGUILAS 3, ESTE 1 IN ESTE

Aguilas:  Dustin Richardson pitched five innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and no walks with two strikeouts.  Jermaine Curtis (St. Louis) was 1-for-1 with two walks and a run.

Este:  Hector Gomez was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.  Jim Adduci was 2-for-4.  Robbie Ross pitched five shutout innings, allowing three hits and one walk with one strikeout.

The game:  Este took a 1-0 lead in the third on a ground out.  It held the lead until the sixth, when Este got two on a Wilin Rosario RBI double and an RBI single by Dan Black.  Aguilas added one in the seventh on a wild pitch.  Este loaded the bases with one out in the seventh and got two on with two out in the ninth.

CIBAO 10, LICEY 1 IN CIBAO

Licey:  The team had only four hits, all singles.

Cibao:  Maikel Franco (Philadelphia) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Marcell Ozuna (Miami) was 3-for-4 and scored twice.  Rudy Owens (Houston) pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks with five strikeouts.

The game:  Cibao scored four in the second, two on a Leury Garcia single, and five in the third, two on a Jimmy Paredes (Houston) triple and two on a Jonathan Diaz homer, to lead 9-0.
