Mexican Matchups: Games of 11/20

NAVOJOA 3, MAZATLAN 1 IN MAZATLAN

Navojoa:  Jon Weber was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Jose Chavez was 2-for-5.  Alejandro Soto pitched 5.1 innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

Mazatlan:  Miguel Aguilar struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and one walk.  Miguel Ruiz pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks.

The game:  Errors plated single runs for Navojoa in the first and third.  Back-to-back doubles scored one for Mazatlan in the bottom of the third.  A sacrifice fly made it 3-1 after four and it stayed there the rest of the game.  Mazatlan did not get a man past first base after that and their last thirteen batters were retired.

HERMOSILLO 3, CULIACAN 1 IN HERMOSILLO

Culiacan:  Luis Cruz was 3-for-5.

Hermosillo:  Jose Aguilar was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Jerry Owens was 2-for-5.  Barry Enright pitched six innings, giving up one run on five hits and one walk with five strikeouts.

The game:  Culiacan scored in the first on a wild pitch.  Aguilar's RBI double tied it in the second and Luis Borges singled in a run to make it 2-1 Hermosillo in the third.  Hermosillo added an insurance run in the sixth.  Culiacan loaded the bases with one out in the ninth.

MEXICALI 7, GUASAVE 0 IN MEXICALI

Guasave:  Zelous Wheeler (Yankees) was 2-for-4.

Mexicali:  Ramon Rios was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Misael Silverio struck out five in five innings, allowing four hits and no walks.

The game:  Mexicali scored five in the second and was never threatened.  Ben Guez (Detroit) had a two-run single to close out the rally.

LOS MOCHIS 10, OBREGON 3 IN LOS MOCHIS

Obregon:  Carlos Valencia was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Agustin Murillo was 2-for-4.  Martin Sotelo struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.

Los Mochis:  Sebastian Valle (Philadelphia) was 4-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one.  Saul Soto was 3-for-4 with a walk and a two-run homer (his sixth), scoring three times.  Gilberto Mejia was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs.

The game:  Los Mochis scored two in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth, building a 7-1 lead that was never threatened.
