Venezuelan View: Games of 11/26

Good innings for Deolis Guerra and Yorman Landa.  Comeback wins for Anzoategui and Magallanes.

ANZOATEGUI 3, LA GUAIRA 2 IN LA GUAIRA

TwinsEduardo Escobar (Anzoategui) was 1-for-4 with a walk.  Yorman Landa (La Guaira) pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and no walks with one strikeout.

Anzoategui:  Cory Aldridge was 2-for-2 with two walks, scoring once and driving in two.  Alexi Amarista (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Jean Toledo struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.

La Guaira:  Jamie Romak (Dodgers) was 2-for-5.  Hector Sanchez (San Francisco) was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Reynel Pinto pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  La Guaira scored single runs in the second and third to take a 2-0 lead.  RBI singles by Aldridge and Amarista tied it at two in the fourth.  Amarista had another RBI single in the sixth to give Anzoategui a 3-2 lead.  La Guaira did not get a man past first after that.

MAGALLANES 9, ZULIA 4 IN ZULIA

TwinsDeolis Guerra (Magallanes) struck out two in a perfect inning.

Magallanes:  Ramon Hernandez was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, scoring twice.  Lew Ford was 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs.  Amailo Diaz struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks.

Zulia:  Francisco Arcia (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a run.  Ernesto Mejia (Atlanta) was 1-for-4 with a walk and a double, driving in one.  Cesar Valdez pitched five innings, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

The game:  Zulia scored two in the first and two in the second to take a 4-0 lead.  They still led 4-1 after five.  In the sixth, Renny Osuna singled in a run and Ford delivered a two-out three-run triple to give Magallanes a 5-4 advantage.  Hernandez hit a three-run homer in the seventh to take control of gthe game.

CARACAS 7, ARAGUA 1 IN ARAGUA

TwinsOswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 0-for-3.

Caracas:  Ramon Cabrera (Detroit) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his third.  Alex Gonzalez was 3-for-5 with two runs.  Guillermo Moscoso pitched five innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

Aragua:  Luis Maza was 2-for-4 with a double.  Harvey Garcia pitched three shutout innings, allowing four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Daniel Hurtado (Angels) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks with one strikeout.

The game:  Aragua took a 1-0 lead in the first, but Caracas came back with five in the second and it was never close again.  Jesus Aguilar (Cleveland) opened the inning with a home run, Cabrera hit a two-run homer, and Jesus Guzman (San Diego) hit a two-run double in the inning.
