ARAGUA 10, MAGALLANES 6 IN ARAGUA

Twins:  Oswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 0-for-4 with a walk.  Edgar Ibarra (Aragua) retired all five batters he faced, striking out two.

Magallanes:  Mario Lisson was 3-for-4 with two runs.  Adonis Garcia (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, driving in two.  Lew Ford was 1-for-4 with a walk and scored twice.

Aragua:  Luis Maza was 2-for-3 with two walks and a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Alex Romero was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Luis Hernandez was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

The game:  Magallanes got two in the first to take the lead, but Aragua tied it with two in the second.  Hector Gimenez put Aragua up 3-2 in the third with an RBI double.  Aragua then took control with three in the fourth and four in the fifth.  Magallanes cut the lead to 10-6 in the seventh but got no closer.

MARGARITA 6, ZULIA 5 IN MARGARITA (10 INNINGS)

Zulia:  Freddy Galvis (Philadelphia) was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.  Marwin Gonzalez (Houston) was 2-for-3 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Jose Sanchez pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and no walks with one strikeout.

Margarita:  Breyvic Valera (St. Louis) was 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI.  Kensuke Tanaka was 1-for-4 with a walk and scored twice.  Luis Ramirez pitched two shutout innings, allowing no hits and three walks.

The game:  Margarita loaded the bases with none out in the second and scored four times on a bases-loaded walk, two ground outs, and an RBI single by Valera.  Margarita added another run in the third on an error.  Zulia scored single runs in the fourth and fifth and tied it in the eighth on a two-run single by Jose Pirela (Yankees) and an RBI single by Sandy Leon (Washington).  In the tenth, a walk and a bunt put the winning run on second and Manny Pina delivered a pinch-hit RBI single to win the game.

LARA 6, ANZOATEGUI 3 IN LARA

Anzoategui:  Oscar Salazar was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double.  Cory Aldridge was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double.

Lara:  Guilder Rodriguez (Texas) was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs.  Andrew Lambo (Pittsburgh) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a triple, driving in two.  Edwin Escobar (San Francisco) struck out four in four shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks.

The game:  Lara scored two in the first and Lambo's two-run triple made it 4-0 after six.  The teams each scored one in the seventh.  In the eighth, a wild pitch and a single by Alexi Amarista (San Diego) brought Anzoategui withing two at 5-3, but Oswaldo Navarro delivered an RBI single to put Lara back up by three in the bottom of the eighth.  Anzoategui was retired in order in the ninth.

CARACAS 11, LA GUAIRA 6 IN CARACAS

La Guaira:  Alex Cabrera was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run (his seventeenth), scoring twice.  C. J. Retherford was 2-for-4 with two runs.  Cesar Suarez was 2-for-5.

Caracas:  Jesus Aguilar (Cleveland) was 3-for-5 with a home run (his twelfth), scoring twice and driving in three.  Jesus Guzman (San Diego) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a three-run homer (his fourth), scoring three times.  Gerardo Parra (Arizona) was 3-for-4 with a walk and scored twice.

The game:  J. D. Martinez hit a two-run double to cap a three-run first and give Caracas an early 3-0 lead.  La Guaira got single runs in the second and fourth.  In the top of the fifth, two singles and a sacrifice fly tied the score and an RBI single by Cesar Suarez put La Guaira ahead 4-3.  The lead didn't last long, as the first two Caracas batters singled in the bottom of the fifth and Guzman followed with a three-run homer.  Later in the inning, Bobby Abreu hit a two-run triple and scored on a sacrifice fly, making it a six-run inning and giving Caracas a 9-4 advantage.  La Guaira got two in the sixth to make it 9-6 but did not get the tying run up to bat.
